I'm happy with Yahoo Mail. I've been using it for years and it has only been getting better.

Yahoo started out as a really great web based email client but after about 4 years the spammers seem to have found my email address and now I get 3 or 4 junk mails delivered to my inbox daily. Quite disappointing after having my account for so long.

Although I've been a user of Yahoo mail for about 15 years, I think the power and ease of the service has been matched or even eclipsed by other services. Users can opt for the free email account, which is an incredible value, with virtually unlimited storage; spam filters can be taught to catch a great many of the junk email that initially makes it into your mailbox. If you choose an extension to the free service by paying for extras with "Mail Plus," you receive more spam filters and POP forwarding to your local email client, such as Outlook. However, Google's GMail offers pop forwarding, virtually unlimited space, and handy "conversations" views, which allow you to see not only the mail that originated from Google's mail server, but also your responses from your local client, such as Outlook. In Yahoo mail, mail that you send out is not reflected in the "Sent" folder on the Yahoo server, nor is it linked to any "conversations." And Microsoft's email rival, Live Mail for local machines also offers virtually unlimited storage via Hotmail, a nice interface and synchronization with mail on the server. All in all, the paid service is no longer really relevant, since equally or more powerful services exist. Yahoo has done a fairly nice job of retooling the simplistic Mail interface, but in doing so, causes some extra strain for the browser, and is therefore slow to downright sluggish, at times (at least, in my experience, with FireFox). So, I have reverted back to the "old" interface.

Yahoo! provides unlimited free email addresses, that are widely used for spam distribution. To limit the Web Space littering, Yahoo! admins introduced severe filters, causing my emails never reach my own wife account, since web links in my signature are considered as part of the spam. Also, POP3 option is available for additional fee.

Had an a/c here but after 4months of not using it "email messages, folders, attachments and preferences have been deleted and cannot be recovered"
Very annoying.

I have been extremely pleased with Yahoo! Mail over the years, especially when compared to other web based email such as Hotmail, which receives much more spam in my opinion. Of course there are advantages and disadvantages of both web based mail and POP server mail. The latter allows for unlimited saved messages and larger attachments; however, web based email allows for message retrieval from any online computer, including saved messages and drafts, and one is less vulnerable to email viruses. For a free service, Yahoo! Mail offers an impressive number of features as well, including 1GB+ of storage space, bulk and user created folders, mail filters, POP mail retrieval, and an automatic vacation response. One can also flag messages or mark them as unread. Finally, Yahoo! Mail has a printable view feature which results in clean hard copies.

Spam protection and filtering are a joke - they are primative at best. Service is a joke; it is more like a machine intended to thwart inquiries. I have yet to receive a helpful reply. In fact asked why their 'do not display graphics' option was not working, I was told it was working as designed. Obviously then it was designed to display graphics regardless of its setting because that is what I was getting.

Spam blocker is good, spell checker is good as well. There is a lot of room with 3gb. However, one can not search the Bulk (spam) directory! And they do not have an email address for suggestions.

I switched to Yahoo! after bad experiences with iName (now Mail.com) and Hotmail. I have now been using it for about six years and it has been excellent. It doesn't lose messages, it doesn't show them to random others, like the other services. The new interface is slightly slower because it uses Java, but the good side is that messages now arrive in real time so you don't have to hit the reload button to see them. The spam filter is fast and roughly 90% accurate (it occasionally puts important emails in the spam bin, but it is worth that price to have the main area cleared of masses of spam). Messages are properly displayed in HTML and all downloads are virus checked. I will try gmail as well because I like Google's other products and it is good to have a spare secure email service to be on the safe side, but I intend to stick with Yahoo! and keep paying for the Mail Plus premium service to keep away the pop-up adverts and guarantee massive storage space so I don't have to waste time deleting old emails.

I like the spam filter, but they have been running ads above the opened mail that will not allow your mail to open until the ad runs its full time! two or three minutes at times. I have high speed internet with Win 98, an old IE browser that I can't update?

I installed a Firefox browser and this problem went away! Now all I have to do is get my sound to work with Firefox. add plugins? But again they don't work with Win 98 oh well...

I tried the Avant browser and Presto the slow email opener ads were back, but in the tools menu you can turn of video ads to fix this. The pop-up features window tipped me off to this... very helpful!

I've used many web email services over the years (hotmail, excite, yahoo and gmail) and this one is my favorite. I find that the interface is easy to navigate, it's bug-free. and I get VERY little SPAM, which is why I like to use it for my public email address. In contrast, Hotmail is overrun with SPAM, and gmail has a fair amount as well. I found excite mail to be impossible to work with, I didn't like it's interface.

Just like its name, this website is run by yahoos. My brother recently couldn't access his email account a few months ago, his email wouldn't let him in one day for some reason. His email account was totally lost and he had to create a new one. Today, I went to check one of my own email accounts on yahoo and discovered it wouldn't let me in. So I went to check and get a new password or something, and it told me my account was deactivated! Absolutely no reason or warning as to why. This company likes to delete people's accounts for no reason apparently. I refuse to use them anymore for email service anymore, you simply cannot trust them to leave your stuff alone! I wouldn't say this is a professional way to run an enterprise. And oh yeah, I used that email address everyday, but it wasn't my primary one, thank god.

I remember the day that Yahoo! expanded to 1GB of storage space. That cemented it as truly a great service. Having used it since the days of 6MB, I find it to be a reliable and easy-to-use electronic mail service. You can create folders, and pull out addresses without leaving the compose a message page. Their new Photomail feature finally lets you embed pictures into an e-mail! The spam blocker is second-to-none and instantly dumps almost all unwanted e-mail into the easy-to-delete-from bulk folder. I would recommend this free service to anyone who wants a quality webmail account!

I think yahoo provides a good free email account, you get 1 gig space which is a lot and they have great spam filters, hardly ever get any in my mail, goes to the bulk folder! Easy to set up folder so mail from one person goes strait to a folder, etc, really a good email to have!

I have used Yahoo Mail for a long time and it is great. :) It's free, a large MB space, you can choose plain text or graphics email to send to others, emoticons in the graphic mail, and more. This also moves your junk mail to the Bulk mail for you to preview (to see if there isn't anyone you know had accidently been in the bulk mail section - this happened to me before) and delete. Much better than Hotmail!

Definatly the best eMail service if you don't count gmail (since it's still in beta), now offering 250 MB of space and with the ability to use Y!IM once you sign up they definatle beat the others hands down. Also I've had absolutely NO DOWNTIME the whole time I've used Yahoo! Mail (3 years now).

I have to give Yahoo five stars. Compared to hotmail it reigns supreme. I love the free calendar and reminder tools as well. The interface is clean and easy to use and very little spam. I think Gmail will give them a run for there money as it is slicker, better organized and obviosly awesome storage with great search features but all in all, how can you complain. Kudos Yahoo.

I used to think they were only average, but now that they've added more storage space (100MB for free, and 2GB for YM Plus) and more user-friendly features, they get more than 5 stars in my book!

With my yahoo account, I have 100 MBs of space to use, which is a ton more than I get a Hotmail. The interface makes sense, with easy to access buttons for composing letters, checking mail, and even for searching through my account for e-mails. There are also the standards features of an address book and calendar. I've never gotten spam at this account, only e-mails from Yahoo informing me of latest upgrades and such on occasion. My favorite thing is the customizable features, from the filters, anti-spam and blocking tools (for specific e-mail addresses), and how flexible Yahoo is to my individual needs.

I never get spam. It's the best free-mail out there. Hotmail used to be good but their 'new and improved' hotmail sucks. Yahoo! is great and it's the only one I use now. As long as you don't ask for those stupid offers, you will get no spam. And if you do it won't clutter up the inbox. It goes to bulk. This is a great email service and it is FREE.

I have been a paying subscriber because I wanted POP3 service. I originally might have rated Yahoo! Mail as a 4, but I have been having problems with it lately after Yahoo started automatically upgrading certain accounts to Mail Plus. First, I got an announcement that my NEGATIVE storage quota had been exceeded (figure that logic!) and my account blocked from receiving further mail. Fortunately, that turned out not to be true. On June 21, Yahoo began rejecting my password when my Outlook e-mail client tried to connect to download my e-mail, although my password continued to work fine on the Yahoo website. Because of this problem, I also discovered that Yahoo customer support is extremely poor--I couldn't find anyplace to call or e-mail to complain, although I did later find I could submit a message only after consulting Yahoo FAQs and indicating that they had not addressed my problem. I've been unable to download my e-mail for more than 24 hours now and I don't know when or even whether Yahoo will resolve this problem.

Yahoo! Mail is the best of the non-vaporware free email providers. When I used to be in the recruiting business, I used Yahoo! Mail ALL the time. For any position that I was recruiting for, I'd set up a Yahoo! Mail account like this: positionname@company.com. By doing this, you could source for confidential postings, have access to resumes anywhere you had access to the Web, and be pretty secure that Yahoo would stay up. The site is reasonably quick - much quicker than Hotmail - and Yahoo did a nice job offering storage upgrades - not sure what's going to happen to Yahoo's premium mail service once Gmail arrives.

pretty good e-mail system with alot of options. I't basically the same as other e-mail sites. also I like the fact it has the frames nav which it makes it easy to go to another folder or something that way, if you have alot of messages and you have to scroll all the way up or all th way down to get to the main nav, it's there on the side all the time. Mail.com has the same kind of navagation system, only yahoo mail has a larger storage limit. I really don't have that mauch to say, since it is basically like others in its class, same amount of options, same navagation system, same type of message viewing...But the storage limit is the real plus I have found out to be helpful and it gives you 6MB's of storage space for all your folders and messages.I have had no real problems with the service and it's a real good free mail/indentity service.

Clean interface and easy to use, but spotty reliability. Sometimes you have to click on your check mail link several times before the page actually loads. This is very strange for a site like Yahoo!, which prides itself on fast-loading pages.

I signed up for Yahoo Mail about six months ago and use it all the time. I think it's a great way to be able to get E-mail from wherever you are and no matter whose computer you're using. I haven't had any problems with it (except that it's a little hard to attach documents) and I would definitely recommend it to a friend.

Yahoo! Mail is kinda lousy for anything other than being just a plain old everyday E-mail box. If you send images you ahve to attach them as opposed to just inserting them into the message which is a pain. Attachments take forever and somtimes don't go through, but even more so the site itself is just awkward, (I think). I use it just for places I register and don't want their spam coming back to me.
