Renter, be aware. Do not rent from these guys, they are bunch of Jackals & will rip you off. Also do not fall for the good reviews on this site; they are most definitely from the employees from Rent Max. Remember, you have been warned. Poor quality cars, poor customer service & getting overcharged are what you can expect from Rent Max.

***PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMERS – DON’T DO IT – THE SLIGHT SAVINGS IS NOT WORTH IT. If there was a 0 star they would get it. I rented a car from Rent Max online from 7-31-10 thru 8-7-10. When I rented, I understood that it would not be an AVIS or any of the other top notched rental agency. I expected bad, but got worse. The car was an old PT Cruiser, with scratches and dings all over it. It was, however, clean on the inside, so we thought. Before driving off from the Ft Lauderdale office located at a Days Inn, my husband noticed the check engine light was on. He informed the clerk who said the car had just had an oil change and the service people forgot to turn off the light. After reading some of the reviews I see this is a standard response for them for that issue. After driving in the car for about 30 minutes we notice a terrible musty order. The car was totally moldy as if it had sat in water for days. The car's guide book was a moldy disgusting mess, so much so that... Read more

Rent Max Car Rental — On two recent trips to Florida, we wanted to rent SUVs. My husband and I avoid the family minivans as often as we can! For us, small SUVs give us the room we need with 2 adults, 2 kids and lots of luggage! We went on to Travelocity and Expedia to compare prices of the various car rental companies. The basic cost for a small minivan was $450 per week in Miami Florida. Ouch! We then turned to Google to see if we could get a bargain. (For those that know me, you know that I love to get nice things-- but I love to get a deal more!) Rent Max Car Rental quoted us at $250 for a week long SUV, We decided on Rent Max Car Rental for our car pick-up. Go Rent Max -- thanks for being half price!! When arriving in Miami, we were pleasantly surprised how closeby Rent Max Car Rental was to the Airport. It was the just across the street. (we used their free shuttle) There was no line and no waiting at all and the staff was very pleasant and very accomodating. In our case, ... Read more

I wish I read the review by "patacakepatacake41" before I used RentMax. I just returned from Ft. Lauderdale where I rented a car from them. When I made the reservation, I assumed that I was renting a late model (fairly new) car, perhaps a 2009 or 2010. Well, I was dead wrong. It was only days later after I looked up the VIN number on the Internet that I found out the car was a 2004 Honda (the year was listed nowhere on the paperwork I was given). 1) I was picked up at the airport and taken to the off site location which was at a Days Inn a few miles from the airport. On arrival to the RentMax office, I asked about other rental car options. There were NONE. The car that they picked me up in was my only option. So here I am as this RentMax office, nowhere near any other rental car places. I felt that I had no choice. What was I going to do? Return to the airport with my family and look for other rental cars? 2) So I sign the contract. I swear, initially I thought th... Read more

I noticed that every person that reviewed before me gave rent max a one star rating (probably because star ratings don't go into the negative). There was also 2 five star ratings. I can almost guarantee you the five star ratings came from employees or family members. There is abdolutely nothing about the service or the cars that i can say anything positive about. The car that I rented would have to improve tremendously to come to the level of a car rented by a company called rent-a-wreck. (I have nothing against Rent-a-wreck as they tell you you will be getting older model cars). The car I rented had the check engine light on which the staff said was because of a recent oil change. The week that I had the car it sputtered, was at times difficult to start and shook a lot when I went on the highway. The car had a bad smell and was very dirty. This is by far the worst car rental experience that I have ever had. The review tips suggest being witty. Well there was nothing funny about this c... Read more

OK where do I begin...we went to pick up the car (9pm on a Sat. night). The clerk was rude (did not greet us or ask us to take a seat). When I saw the car we were getting (way to small) I immediately asked for an upgrade. I was told I couldn't because ALL the the other cars were reserved (really?). The lot was absoulutely full of cars. So we set of for our trip (to Orlando from Miami) at 5am the following day, only to realize that the engine light was on, the car made a horrible sound and one of the seat belt buckles did not work so my 11 year old could not be strapped in. When we returned the car and complained we were offered a discount on a future rental (are you kidding). Oh by the way, the same cars were still on the lot (remember I was told they were all reserved). I will never rent from this company again!

Do not rent a car from this company. The cars are older models and are full of problems. I rented a car from the Fort Lauderdale Rent Max office and was given a 6 year Ford Taurus that was dirty inside and out. I had body damage plus when you drove over 55 mph the car shook. I called the Fort Lauderdale office to report the problem and ask if I could take the car to the Miami office to have it checked out. I was told that the was fine when the previous driver had it and that Taurus drove rough. Finally, after arguing with the sales person she told me to call the Miami office. I called the Miami office and I was treat really bad by the sales person. He told me he did not have another car for me and could do nothing for me. When I again explained how dirty the car was, he put me on hold and then came back 2 minutes later and told me to bring the car by the Miami office. I was offered another car which was again a Ford Taurus that was at least 4 years old. As I drove off with t... Read more

I work in Corporate Aviation and travel often. This was without a doubt the best experience ! I extended the rental period 2 days without any hassle and the return was fast and friendly. I will only use Rent Max Car Rental when I need a rental car in Florida from now on ! ! to purchase the tank of gas instead of filling up upon arrival, that was a very good suggestion and was cheaper. And, we were very grateful that the counter agent assisted us immediately and ahead of the long line to split our bill for 2 credit card payments. This was the 3rd time I've used Rent Max Car Rental and will always rent with them first. I am just disappointed that I cannot rent a car in Cleveland, OH at Rent Max Car Rental . Thanks again.
