I find their "regular" news fairly routine, but I like the site for the feature coverage, especially the travel areas.

Ahhh....I love my morning USA Today.com and a cup of coffee. I keep a browser open and minimized all day so I can check in regularly to see what is going in the world. They keep me up to date and informed.

USA Today has a reall good site, but it doesn't live up to other newspaper-based sites, and I think I know why. When they talk about something on USA Today, they stick to the subject, as for NY Times and Washington Post, they go off-topic and bit and get you a bit more interested. USA Today is still a great site and newspaper, don't get me wrong, but they should work on that.

Compared to great news Web sites like CNN.com and WashingtonPost.com, USAToday.com is a mess. I'm no news snob - I read the print version of USA Today regularly - but I find that their Web site is painfully amatuerish. The home page of a news site should do two things really well: 1) it should summarize the very latest news across a wide variety of topics, and 2) it should look professional and be well-organized, so that it's easy to find what you're looking for. USAToday.com fails in both areas. Open two browsers and compare USAToday.com with CNN.com. Which one gives you more news? Which one has a more professional look and feel? It's no contest. Why a major media conglomerate like Gannett can't build a first-class Web site is beyond me. Give a smart Web usability consultant two weeks and he/she could double their repeat visitors.

OK if you like plenty of advertising. I tried looking at the weather for my City. clicked weather, my state, the closest City was 30 miles away, but the local ski area was listed as a city. iWON.com is a better site for my morning news and features.

I think that USA Today has crossed that thin line between over-commercialism and paying the bills. There are so many ads and promotions on USA Today's Web site that it makes me uncomfortable as to the validity of the news being reported!

USAToday.com is the best! Up to date and thorough, why buy the paper?

This is probably the only one I actually really like to "tune" into. The rest aren't that great.
