While "Pudge" is way past his prime...offensively for a catcher he is still a bit over average and is still on pace to hit around 15-20 HRs. He calls a great game and is a GREAT mentor tp the young pitchers coming up with the Astros. Every day he plays from here on out just adds to the record books and ensures his enterance in to the Hall even more.

Nearing the end of it, but can still swing a bat, and isn't a liability wearing the tools. When Posada went down, the Yankee's needed somebody behind the plate, and Rodriguez was a obvious choice. Career wise, he's probably assured of the Hall. Currently he's an old banged up backstop, but still able to contribute.

Was a five, but not so "pudgy" after steriod alegations. Was a three after that. Now back to a four.

Has almost no value in fantasy leagues anymore, because his bat has lost most of its pop, though he still hits for a decent average. His arm is still astonishing, but it's been a few years since he was an authentic offensive threat. It just makes Johnny Bench's achievement all the more amazing. Very difficult for a catcher to maintain his batting skills.

The most dominant catcher of the last 10 years. Mike Piazza might have gotten more of the press, but Pudge is the better player. And amazingly he hasn't broken down at all, but is stil a quality all around catcher who can go almost every day.

the best catcher of the last decade.

one of the greatest catchers the game has ever seen has had his overall status marred by unfortunate injuries

Great glove but his bat seems to mysteriously disappear at key times.

There are few players in baseball that play their position any better than Pudge Rodriguez. I am not a Rangers fan but I watch their games for the fun of watching him catch. He is hard to steal on and his offensive numbers are quite good. He seems to really enjoy his job, and that shows in his work.

increase offensive production and handle the pitching staff more professionally

way better than piazza overall.....I'd build my team around him if i had too
saz@749om 04/27/2000
The best overall catcher in baseball. Although his hitting is not quite as good as Piazza's, his defense puts him on top. A totally dominant player.

Piazza is above Rodriguez? Please.

Pudge is fabulous.

The next Johnny Bench if his offensive numbers continue to rise.
