Veneers 4

One of my top front teeth was chipped from a playground accident in 3rd grade. I got a crown, but the whole tooth looks frankensteinian - with a dark line between the real tooth and the piece of artificial addition. So I decided to upgrade to a veneer. I also got the other top front tooth veneered as well because it was seriously crooked (yes, I had seriously unsightly teeth). So, two birds one stone. And it worked out well. The whole process took about a week and a half, with 2 dentist visits. The first time, they made the mold, cleaned out my teeth and put in temporary veneers (fragile, but I didn't have too much problem). When the place that made the veneers mailed them over, I was called back to the dentist office. They installed the veneers. The temporaries actually look more real than the veneers because they are glossy and semi transparent. The veneers look sort of "fake." But, they get the job done. The only complaint is that my dentist did a bad job of helping me choose a color - I ended up with veneers a shade or 2 too dark. And once installed, the dentist does not recommend taking them out to be repainted. You might break them, in which case you'll have to pay for new ones to be made. A year later, one veneer came off while I bit into a peach pit (the one thing that the dentist said not to do). But he put it back in, free of charge. But a traumatic experience nonetheless- I spent 4 days with people thinking that I'm a freak with a half-missing front tooth. Because normal people would get that fixed right away, right? Overall, I'm very happy I spend over a thousand dollars on this project. But beware- make sure to choose the shade under good/multiple lighting!
