Before Gateway 2000's Internet service ended, the company addressed users to switch over to America Online (or World Online, since the service is not only available in the USA). Why only AOL you asked? As a new person to AOL, I realized that this and Gateway's now dissolved Internet service provider are very similar. Multiple e-mail addresses, features, a You've Got Mail message, and yes even the connection screens were getting similar. Aside from the previously stated similarity types, there's one that sticks out more than the thumb that gave the go ahead for Gateway.net, and it's noticeable every month. In case you don't understand, I was talking about the high price. That's right, there was non-AOL service pricing folks in order to have similar features, along with having access to the Internet at all. Unlike myself, I'm sure many plenty of former Gateway.net members realized its similarities to AOL shortly before making his or her own choice of service.

Gateway and AOL are in alliance. Considering all of AOL's other alliances that suck, i'm sure you should expect the same with Gateway. What to expect? 1.Spam2.high price3.cheap software4.to be kicked off before you can even get on.5.your account to be terminated.6. after your account is terminated you will most likly still be paying the expencive amount even after you call into cancel.7.you can also expect them to blind you from the rest of the world and say that there ISP is surely the best.8.more SPAM.9.If you do some how manage to get on you will probley be kicked off when you left your computer when it was signing on so that you could use the bathroom.10. Everything AOL touches it ruins, so you can expect the same from Gateway.

Unless you're the richest person in the world, and don't mind a pretty slow connection, Gateway is not for you.

Too much useless crap on the screen. Also no matter what page you go to the Gateway menu bar follows and slows down loading time.

I got Gateway free when I bought my computer. Definitely not worth it. Connections were always slow. And when there were a lot of people on the server, I was fortunate to connect in under 5 minutes.
