Since the new stats on v3 let me know I am a top 10 list maker, I think I have a lot of experience with this aspect of the rateitall site. I personally do not care for most of the changes made to the site that effect maintaining weblists. It isn't difficult to create a list on V3. The new format, despite needing to move to several pages to get it finished, appears pretty efficient at making the list. However, I still prefer what was available on the previous version of the site. First...I liked being able to see a complete list of all my weblists by hitting a link for "See All My Weblists." On V3, I would have to scroll a long time with the "See More Lists" tab to view my complete list at one time. I don't care for this. I also liked how I could previously add 3 new items at one time. At times this makes for faster list making, although the new method isn't awful. This is a minor part of my complaints. One of my major beefs with the listmaking is part of maintaining lists that I've already made. I don't like that listmakers are no longer able to delete an item from their list once a review has been left. I believe I understand why V3 was constructed this way. I believe I've heard people complain before V3 that people would "leave" RIA and delete their lists before they left. I would notice this occassionally when a more prolific member might leave and my helpful votes would suddenly decrease. This would usually mean somebody had removed weblists which I had rated a lot and received votes. I think I also remember seeing Lawrence defend this issue by saying that RIA felt what was added by a member belongs to them and not the site. Therefore if they wanted to delete it, it was their choice. I noticed somewhat of a change when lists would be authored by weblister once a person had closed their account. I get the need to respect both lists that are created by an individual and reviews that are left as well. However, if I change my mind about having an item on one of my lists, it bothers me that I no longer have the ability to remove that item if somebody, including myself, has rated it. I feel I should have the ability to edit my lists as I see fit, and remove an item if it no longer fits the list. I guess others might have used this ability in the past to silence or censor others who they do not agree with or don't like. However, I've never removed an item from a list because of a personal issue with another reviewer or because I didn't like what others expressed.Damn that was a long paragraph. Last point...When others suggest an item for my weblist, once I approve it, I no longer have any control over that item. I recently accepted a suggestion, only to notice later that the reviewer who suggested it had included their review in the item description section. I tried to edit the item to create a neat item description. I would then contact the reviewer who suggested the item and inform them of their mistake as an act of courtesy so they could repost their review. Unfortunately I realized I can no longer edit items that somebody else suggested. As somebody who wants a good looking weblist, I've often edited typos, misspellings, and bad capitalization on weblist suggestions I've accepted. Now...if I don't catch it the first time around, I can't make a change. That can lead to my weblist looking disorganized, which is a peeve of mine. RIA admins...Its still my weblist right? You aren't taking away ownership from your users are you? I would love to see a little more autonomy for the listmaker as I feel there used to be.
