I love rats. They have to be the best pet I've ever had. They are smart, CLEAN, and love attention. I found my rats to be very similar to having dogs, dogs that used a litter box.

Yes they can be litter trained. They love human contact (if properly raised and conditioned) and like to play!
They give kisses and like to snuggle.

Rats should have an adequate cage that is at least one square foot per rat. They NEED to be in pairs, though males do tend to brawl a bit, nothing out of hand can and should be kept with another of the same sex.

They can be altered and in females it reduces the risk of cancer, common among them, poor breading at its best.

Rats are very sensitive to soft wood bedding and it causes Upper repository infections. I liked Yesterdays news and carefresh the best when I had upwards of 20 rats! Diet is important like so many other animals and proper research shod be done before choosing a pet.

Due to the stipulation that they give many rentals do not allow them as pets, this is unfortunate as they make great pets for YOUNG CHILDREN. They are the only small animal I would trust with a small child. (ONLY UNDER SUPERVISION!!!!)

No rats for me.  I place them in the same category as snakes and mice.

rats are the best pets of all, i was at my mates house recently where they had rats, it was a revelation to me. i never thought rats could be pets but now im all for it!

Rats make great pets actually! People need to get over the whole thinking they are diseased! Wouldnt you be if you lived in the sewer?! And domesticated rats are the cleanest of ALL the rodents and most intelligant. I have had 2 rats, one of which responded to her name and followed me around like a dog! Rats have a bad rep just because of the plague and where they live in the wild. But honestly my rats have to be the best rodents I have ever had...and I have had all the others!! GIVE RATS A CHANCE!!!

Rats are for traps. They are not for pets.
