 | lucycampbell (0) 02/19/2008 | I have used this program for the last several years. The first year we purchased it, we were still skeptical that something like this could/would work, so we filled out our taxes and printed them and took them into the place we had been going for years before. They got the same thing we did, so the next year, we did only the software.
This has worked like a dream for us until this year. I efiled, and my return was rejected because of ssn errors. I 'fixed' the errors and re-filed, and it was rejected again. It didn't keep the fixes that I had entered. I have done everything I know how, including saving it as a newly named file, still to no avail. I have contacted support and they responded almost immediately, but have not solved my problem. I am now going to have to file on paper, and will not be able to utilize the 'free' efile that came with the program.

 | JAL (0) 02/07/2008 | I have used this for years and this years software is full of bugs which the tech services nor the law help advice folks can HELP. I am retired and my 1099 pay is being treated like I am getting payments from an IRA and not from my US gov't military retired pay and therefore, my annual ROTH contributions now are too much and I am getting a penalized for thsi software problem. I am only in my 40s. DO NOT BUY!

 | lhindman (0) 02/23/2007 | I have used TaxCut for over 5 years and this is the worst problem I have had with it. If errors are found after performing a final error check on the State return certain ones can not be fixed/edited. You can overide and fix it but then that prevents you from e-filing. I manually edited the appropreate federal form from the open forms menu item and got by the state error check but then the e-filing check found an error at this spot. I then had to go back and pull the same federal form up and delete the information (description of other taxes) then it passed the error check so I could e-file. Tech Support was no help to me. I had to figure this out on my own. I can't believe such highly publized tax software would let such bug as this get by.

 | mosman (0) 04/09/2004 | Could not download state software. Web page would not open. After it was to late I found out that their web page wont open if you have a firewall. Never had this problem with any other web page or with turbotax. Why do they need in my computer to sell me software. Wont use again.

 | marion henneman (0) 03/05/2003 | Interview process through unreimbursed employee business expenses doesn't ask about proof of use for listed property, attempting to add information causes the return to be denied for e-filing because of overriding. The program (software) will not allow e-filing if there has been a recharacterization, the IRS allows it. There were enough problems that I'm sending in what I need to get a full refund, the program was useless to me.

 | Five2Brunette (0) 03/19/2002 | I bought Home & Business, and State. Seemed fairly easy enough at first although I didn't care for the look and feel of the software. Reminds of the old style Windows 3.1 software, big and bulky looking. It' wasn't all that clear on how to navigate from form to form, page to page, but eventually I *think* I've figured it out.
Then, nothing but problems. Software problems, download problems. I now have to do my taxes manually and I'm out the cost of the software to boot! Tech support responded within 24 hours, but their suggestions have not worked. I still have own a non-working program!
This is the worst software I've ever used in my life and it's handling my taxes??? Thank you, but I'll go back to doing them manually if this is what computerized tax preparation is all about!

 | mrkstvns (0) 02/27/2001 | Easy to use with interview-style questions that guide you through preparing even complex tax returns. At about half the cost of Turbo Tax, it's also an outstanding value for the money!!

 | ninjafly (0) 02/03/2001 | This is the worst!!! I used this thing last year and I had trouble with the updates. Tech support is terrible and takes forever. This year I got the federal for 9.95 and the state for free. CHEAPER IS NOT BETTER. Problems every step of the way. Just got off the phone after an hour with tech support. My problem was I could not download the South Carolina state update. Turns out the update was not even there even though the website said it would be there 1/30/01. I used dialpad to call so I had no long distance call. Funny enough, I downloaded the free turbotax just to see what the numbers came to. I owed money with Turbotax, I got a refund with Taxcut. All in all this thing stinks!!!
