Bought the Quicken 2010 upgrade. Software bug and the install failed. Tried to get some customer support - the phone line won't even ALLOW you to reach a person, instead directing you to the website so THEY can call YOU. Like that's really going to happen. The chat feature on the website had >30 minute wait just to reach a person. Come on guys, this is NOT the way to run a business!

I am so frusterated with quicken 2009 rental property manager. I keep asking questions on the chat, and the questions are not answered. It seems they go away every three minutes to check on it, and don't know the program enough. It is like they are doing the same thing as I am and it ends up being a half an hour or MORE to get to understand the 3 sentence question, or they can't get an answer. There is no manual for people that pay for this program in which is to me uncalled for. I am on chat more than on the program and nothing is accomplished. I don't know why if someone cannot understand the program and has to go look at it is online teaching something they may not know yet. I am so mad at this program. Why can't someone just make a manual for it? You guys won't. Can someone? Why not?

Well add one more to the list. Quicken recently removed the ability to download transactions, and import QIF files. Since when did it become acceptable for companies to remove functions from there software when they feel it is time for you to upgrade. It is not the money even it is that Quicken XG 2004 works great for my uses. This is the worst company to do business with. I refused to do business with companies that have no care for their customers. I have tried GNUCASH ,a free open source alternative, looks good, not a full featured as quicken but if you look at the timeline of development it is moving pretty quick.

I have used Quicken for 10 years. The program works reasonably well but customer service, both online and in person is pathetic. In person I have much trouble understanding the person on the other end, but obviously outsourcing save them dollars. The online service rarely answers my question. I have just dropped Online Backup as a flash drive does it quicker and cheaper.

I had a motherboard failure which accesesed my zip backup (disk left in drive):( and caused an unreadable disk. When I paid $100 dollars to retrieve my backup files all was fine until I tried to open the Quicken backup file with the newly installed program. Not only wouldn't it open the backup but wrote to it corrupting the file on purpose. Quicken only wanted $700 to fix the file. I went on line and there are thousands of these horror stories. BEWARE

The worst thing Quicken did was to buy out MoneyCounts, and then put them out of business. MoneyCounts was a much better program, I wish it was still available.

If you own stocks...this is a terrible program. I had Quicken 2002 and it was great, but this version is too complicated and unflexible for anything other than simple stock trades. This is probably the worst home accounting program that I have worked with.

Since I have never used a competitor to Quicken, I cannot comment on how the program compares with Money, etc; however, with that qualification out of the way, Quicken appears to be the leader in personal accounting/finance for a reason. I have never had trouble getting Quicken to do what I need, the program allows for the user to classify transactions on several levels, and the software is relatively intuitive. On the downside (as others have noted), Intuit has poor customer service, at least with their online help (eg FAQs). I am also having some problems converting some old Quicken files to more recent editions which suggests some limited backwards compatibility.

I haven't needed to contact customer service yet, and I hope it stays that way. Quicken does what I need it to, which isn't much. Good program as long as you don't need to pay for it. (It came with my computer). When and if Quicken makes me pay the 60 or 70 dollars to get the newest version I think I'll just balance my checking and savings accounts the old fashioned way.

This is not accounting. Instead, it's a lot of data entry, just to print out some meaningless pie charts. Spend your time reconciling your bank account, rather than papering your walls with the products of wasted ink jet cartridges!

I was looking for a software that would allow me to down load information from my different accounts (e.g. 401s, 403s, credit unions, brokerage accounts etc...) automatically. Unfortunately it appears that Quicken does not support most of my financial institutions. If you are looking for this feature and have a complicated financial picture you should look else were. A spread sheet software with a Morningstar subscription will be better in tracking your overall financial picture.

I've never had a problem with this software. And I hope I never do, from what I read about their customer service. I've used Quicken since the early 90's and have never had a problem updating old data with newer versions. I use this software to track all kinds of data, not just finances. (I should learn to use Excel)

I have used Quicken since the 95 edition. Each release gives a few more features, most of which I never use. I find the customer service unacceptable. It appears that their main source of revenue is to force customers to call for the most rudimentary information. The frequently asked questions cover NO “program issues (bugs)” that would the most likely reason for a customer inquiry. For instance, when I installed the 2002 edition I had several problems. Suddenly my credit card account would not balance on my spending reports AND my category grouping reports no longer worked. After scouring the Quicken website for several hours trying to find out if it were a know issue, I gave up and coughed up the $50.00 to help Intuit debug the program. The “support rep/cashier” on the line “had never heard of that problem” and suggested that I delete and re-create all the reports I had created for the last 7 years. It did not fix the problem, after spending a week on it I found a transacti... Read more

Have used since the early 90's - used to love it, but finally got fed up with lack of customer service and changed products.

Intuit gives TERRIBLE customer service. No regard for their customers at all!

Great program, I would be lost without it. It helps that my bank allows monthly balance sheet downloads that I can import.

Reconciling my checkbook used to take hours (I am obviously challenged by basic math!!), but now I can rest assured that my balances are correct because of this software. And it helps me with financial planning because I can get a picture of exactly where my money goes each month. Very user-friendly, as well. I have not had occasion to use the tech support, so I have no input there.

I've used Quicken for years and used to think it the best software bargain out there. But customer service has gone through the floor. You must now register on-line in order to use the product beyond a handful of times, or the product will stop working. Who it the H___ do they think they are? And the last straw, Quicken 2000 changes the interface to require twice as much mouse movement and clicking just to move from one account to another. It used to be easy - just clicked on a nice, big, easy-to-see tab. Now you must navigate to a little, tiny target to open a list and then select the account name from a drop-down list. How tedious. I sent it back and switched to a competitive product. Should have done it long ago.

Easy to use and happy too. The internet downloading thing bugs me because it gets in your face every time you open. But other than that lots of nice features.

I love the way the software works, but tech support is terrible. I have spent over $70.00 in phone bills trying to solve a problem, that when the tech support person gave me a solution it totally corrupted my accounts and it took me 10-12 hours to sort it out! I'm not a happy camper...

I've used Quicken since 1990 and found it's very user friendly. However, tech/customer support is poor as their customer base has grown more rapidly than the company's ability to provide service. It works perfectly with Turbo Tax(also Intuit). Investment following is OK but not nearly the quality of morningstar.com or other similar web sites. It offers the best overall package of features. Bottom line-buy it!

I've used Quicken for years from when it was a DOS application. It has consistently been great.

Slick. The best implemented application I've ever used.
