I use frommers.com as a supplement to other web sources when planning a trip. The introduction sections usually provide a lot of useful information about the places you're visiting, including customs, history, and other things. They generally have very good comprehensive coverage of key points in any given city or region, but they do tend to stick to places that aren't too far off the beaten path. Also, their restaurant and hotel recommendations aren't diverse enough either. The descriptions are usually good, but the coverage of available facilities is limited to only the place the author chooses to highlight. I think frommers is a good source, but don't use it as a "one stop source".

Excellent advice based on the Arthur Frommers Budget Travel magazine. Best features include Arthur's Testy Opinions, where Arthur pulls no punches as he tells about the REAL problems and performance in the travel industry. LOTS of great insight for getting great travel deals...

The areas they cover they cover very well but I don't think they cover nearly as many places as some of the other travel guidebooks/websites, such as Lonely Planet or Rough Guides. Furthermore, their niche isn't the budget traveller so if you want to spend more money and be pampered on your trip. If you want to explore more and kinda travel off the beaten path I'd pick up one of the others.

Frommer's is okay for a couple of things: 1.)supplementing another travel guidebook and 2.) if you've got tons of money and want to travel in a pampered manner. I don't think Frommer's book are very thorough and no where near as informative as a Lonely Planet Guidebook. The websites as plain as the books.

It's the best resource for scouting out the Caribbean, but pretty weak in other areas. Also, the site seems a little too Arthur Frommer focused - it attempts to put all reviews and descriptions from his personal perspective, which makes the site a little creepy... It seems to me the whole point of a Web-based travel site should be to pull in the opinions and experiences of lots of travelers...
