RateItAll: The Opinion Network

Evite is one of those sites that kind of sucks, but that everybody uses anyway. It's super slow, the ads are intrusive, and it doesn't tell you any useful information in the email invitations (it makes you click through). But unfortunately, like everything in the social media space, you use what your friends use - and most people's friends use Evite.

Now there are a whole bunch of better options - sites like Socializr and MyPunchbowl come to mind. Whether anybody can make any headway against Evite remains to be seen, however.

Since there is no description of Evite from RateItAll management, this service allows one to electronically manage social (and perhaps informal business) events via the Internet. Invitations (i.e. evites) are received via email, and the link therein provides all the details, including who's coming, who's not, who's on the fence, directions, etc. The service seems rather popular in Atlanta, as I've received several evites since relocating there. Having not been a host using the site or used all of the Evite's features, I can only give 4 stars at this point.

Rude chat rooms. If you don't download the talkable chat and create an avator don't bother. However, I do use it as a seach engine.

I got an invitation to a party through evite-which I originally thought was a goofy idea, but it was actually kind of fun to check out who was going and to read their comments. I'd probably use it myself sometime.

I also like mambo.com, it categorizes the invitations and includes fun graphics.
