I have a Brother HL5150D and print over 1000 pages a month. This is a great printer for the price. I do not even use my Cannon MultiPass F80 any more (ink jet) except for scanning and faxing. I'm now trying to sell my Cannon and Brother HL5150d to upgrade to the Brother MFC-8840D. A friend of mine just got one and he has gotten rid of his HP printer. For toner and drums check out inkjetsuperstore.com cheapest prices on the net for Brother.

when it comes down to cost per print for a b&w printing, i dont think you can beat the HL 3030 laser, plus great quality and speed.

After less than one year of use, the drum on my Brother HL Laser printer failed. Replacement of the necessary components was more costly than replacement of the entire device. Although the printer worked well during its life's service... that life was far too short.

I agree that it isn't the quietest of printers; however, I have had mine for two years and I have been very impressed. I highly recommend this printer. The best I have ever had - I use it for my home office; thus, I print about 500+ sheets per month. On some months, 2000+. It has always performed.

I bought this printer because I do resumes on the side and I needed one that produced laser quality work. I chose it because it was the cheapest and that was a big mistake! I now wish I would have paid an extra $200 for an HP. Why? Because 2.5 months after I purchased my Brother, the printer drum went bad. I do not print a lot of copies -- I hadn't even gone through a printer cartridge yet. The HL-1240 printer drums cost $189 (I paid $299 for the printer). It is not covered under warranty because it is considered a wear and tear part. Customer Service was hard to get ahold of as well. I am now stuck with a printer that could go through a drum every two months or so. My advice -- buy an HP (but I hear not the 1100 series) and spend $500 if you want a quality laser printer!

This sucks because it is very loud. Always breaks down, and Brother is not known for their printers.

I bought it because it said Brother. A big disappointment. No thanks.
