Another puppet of the corporate fascists who only use socialism to bail tehmselves out at the taxpayers' expense; worse than George W Bush, because he promises a "better day" while robbing us, squeezing us economically, and perpetuating an endless and useless wars for greed in Afghanistan. He has broken every promise he made, and once again the American people are left holding the bag. A terrible person and awful president.

So, how is everyone enjoying having an insurance salesman for a President? A couple of weeks ago, he was selling cars. Before that...it was houses. Before that? Tire pressure gauges. This is one tele-prompter-marketer that's gonna be hard to hang up on. He's shilling way too fast for me. Well, personally, I'm putting an end to this nonsense. My bar has been raised. I'm not going to vote for another president unless they can get up in front of a joint session of Congress and do this with their husband or wife...or whoever they're having an affair with...

As predicted: business as usual from this corporate owned, center/right graduate of the Daley Machine. Not as frightening or embarrassing as Palin/McCain, however.

I wish I shared the confidence of my fellow raters in being able to predict what the future will hold.Right now, I know that Obama has committed a lot of money to programs to bolster the social infrastructure and to hopefully stimulate the economy, but I think it is premature to judge him on that. It was a bold step, and I think people are right to feel a little jittery, but if it works, we will all benefit from it. A lot of people who are smarter than me think that it is a good idea, and that encourages me. I am not an expert on macroeconomics, but I sure as hell hope he is listening to people who are.Right now, it is still too early to see substantial returns, so he is being judged solely on the fact that he is investing borrowed money in building the country up again, and not on the results. But, as I said, it was a bold move and he will have to stand or fall based on how it works out, especially if Al Franken finally gets seated and the Democrats have 60 votes in the Senate. He has slid on the transparency issue, and I think he needs to be kept honest. Our last president used his executive power repeatedly to show his utter disdain for transparency of government, and after that, I, for one, would feel cheated if Obama did not keep government transparent.

Brilliant man who has done more in his first 100 days than any other President. See Time magazine http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/0,8599,18 93277,00.html Where was the right-wing voice when George Bush handed out 3 TRILLION to banks in an unfettered looting of the US Treasury? How about the dismantling of the Glass-Steagall Act by Gramm and Leach, which allowed a little company called AIG to pursue ultra-leveraged, unsupervised hedges known as Credit Default Swaps. Now suddenly they think Barack Obama is spending too much? Is out of control? Come on, you hate him for a different reason that you are too cowardly to admit. All economists indicate that government spending is the only solution to this major economic problem, which the Bush Republicans brought us to after 8 years. And we won't even mention torture, wire tapping, environmental destruction, FDA & FEMA failures.... Time to get the USA back on top and Barack Obama has done more in 100 days than anyone thought possible.
mrsfred9796 04/21/2009
How can anyone call him anything other than terrible? He's trying to tax and spend us right into poverty. He is still too busy campaigning to pay any real attention to what's going on here at home. I am tired of everyone saying that he 'inherited' this mess. Even if he did that is no longer the point. He is the president now and it's his responsibility to take care of it. (Never mind that the mess he 'inherited' came from a dumocrat controlled congress= but everyone conveniently forgets that). He wants to take from those who work hard and are productive members of society and keep giving more to those who don't deserve it! Let's keep encouraging laziness and sucking off the welfare system- why not- it pays more. Electing this inexperienced man for our president was one of the worse things that this country has ever done and it's going to bite everyone in the rear end very soon- if it hasn't already. He wants to own and control everything-doesn't that scare anyone other than me?

There is not room enough in this forum to describe the problems with this man.
oaktowngurl 04/19/2009
I think that the way that he has been spending our money, *or lack of it*, and the stupidity of his spending choices. He WILL drive us into the ground, mainly; #1: because he is becoming friends with the countries that hate the crap out of us (yes. that much.) and #2: his frivolous spending, on stem cell research, the stimulus package, etc. #3: lastly, his obnoxious, fake *star quality* that makes him think that he ISN'T loosing money every second he's on Jay Leno or any other TV show. I believe that race and deception won this election for Obama and nothing else. He lied to our faces and makes me want to spit. Give me a good president. One that will protect my country, and her citizens and good interests. Not some lying, cheating, betraying idiot we call president. By the way, I am half black, as is he. (NO JOKE.)

swide 04/18/2009
He's going to screw us all, one way or another. No one has done this much in so little time to screw up this Nation as bad as Obama. In less than 100 days he's spent and wasted more more money than the other 43 combined. And we have to put up this for four more years!
Scapp70 04/18/2009
Oh my..Harry Knox??Rosa Brooks???Who is next, Sean Penn?B. Hussein Obama could not be more out of touch with the majority of Americans. Keep filling your cabinet with weirdo hate-mongers, and soon the Democrats themselves will be attending and hosting their own TEA Parties.

We are doomed if this spending trend continues. In less than 100 days, this administration has moved to a quadrupled national debt. Let those companies that cannot survive, fail. Make it easier for promising companies and entrepreneurs to succeed. Reward success, not failure. Can we soon expect the government to monitor and control even what we are expressing here. This man is not a leader - bad judgement on many of his appointments - tax cheats all over the place, Caroline Kennedy for Ambassador to the Holy See? Really, even as non-Catholics we should expect a bit more than this. Rahm and Axelrod epitomize the ultimate Chicago political manipulators. They are the President's right and left hands. Although, maybe he only has left hands... People get the government they vote for. Let us hope we will have at least one more opportunity to vote for real leaders. But - are there any out there???On the plus side: Obama has done well for every parent or single person who needs a loan to go to college. His recent move to have the government support loans for higher education could lift a heavy financial burden from a great many Americans. Until now, college loans were a way for lending institutions to make big profits at the expense of families and people trying to do what this country needs as much or more than anything - improve their education. Give credit where credit is due - making it easier to get a higher education is a solid and positive step. Obama just announced he wants to take that step. THAT is encouraging.
grayson2009 04/17/2009
He has done more damage in 40 days than Bush has done in 8 years. At this rate we will be the next Somalia or Ethiopia. The taxpayers need to stand together against Obama and his blank check side kick Pelosi. Stop the spending and try spending cuts. That is the only way to earn confidence in the stock markets. You cannot buy peoples trust. That is if your not a politician. As far as bailouts, STOP!. I have two GM products in my yard and as far as I am concerned, they will be the last. At least the foreign car companies are not crying on their governments shoulders. They are making cuts and riding out the storm. Shame on US automakers. Buy a decent car, buy foreign!
Gris 04/17/2009
Give the man a chance, in a few months Im sure he'll have done a lot of objectionable stuff, but as of right now he has not pissed me off. I don't like the bailouts, but when it appears that the only other option would be to have thousands of people unemployed at once, I think the initial bailouts are the only option. That said, those bigwigs who took the bailouts and then gave themselves massive raises and bonus', should be taken out and shot.Or at least fired.

Where exactly is the "hope" and "change" that was promised? The only change, is that politicians are grabbing for power and money at the expense of our rights and future even FASTER than ever before. As a small business owner, I don't need more taxes, rules, regulations, oversight, or babysitting. We need to STOP the out-of-control growth of the government and the out-of-control spending. "I will eliminate ear-marks". I was always taught that if you tell a lie that makes you a liar.I thought the Bush administration was a problem with their spending and lack of control of our borders, but now the Obama administration seems like they are on a high-speed rampage to usurp our rights, dollars, and freedoms while they build up their own powerbase and line their own pockets. I've never been politically active (I work loooong hours, 6 days a week taking care of my customers and employees, trying to build my business and feed my family), but it looks like I may be forced to get involved. I'm afraid to just stand on the sidelines and watch. Doesn't seem to matter whether they're republicans or democrats, they all just keep spending money that isn't theirs: "Don't worry, we'll just print more". Barack Obama is obviously in over his head and the people he has surrounded himself with are mostly incompetent. Seems like all he wants is to make speeches (mostly to people of the world that are not his constituents) and to make friends with leaders that we should consider enemies. I am afraid for my family and for our country.

I believe that if we must decide on one man to be considered our founding father it would have to be Thomas Paine. He wrote the manifesto for this country, as well as manifestos for the between steps, and we are not sticking with the plan. These problems are meant to be solved by society, and not the sovereign. Besides he is not helping. An example problem comes into existence, like the many we have seen, and Barrack Obama agrees to use 30% of the reasorces used to solve that problem on his parties agenda, and 70% on the actual problem. Then congress ignores him and uses 80% for there agenda 15% to solve the problem and 5% for throwing a wrench in the machine. Barrak Obama then acts like the push over he is and accepts that. We now have solved nothing and used our problems as an excuse to start statism, which is contrary to the exact point of this country. please read common since before saying that I don't know what I'm talking about. It shocks me that most of our country has not been educated on what our real goals our in the continuance of this country, and therefore our responsibilities.

ambiente 04/16/2009
The vast majority of what Obama has spent and will have to spend is to begin to pay for the massive failure of responsibility that has been going on in the country for far too long. Under Bush we spent like drunken sailors and didn't pay for it. If you supported Bush, his wars, etc. put your $ where you mouth is. I'm only 37 years old but I have never seen a national Republican party that pays it's own bills. They rely on the future, credit card debt and welfare. I've seen Dems work hard to pay off Republican debt, but I've never seen a fiscally responsible Republican party. It's certainly the Dems that spend also I'm just so tired of people that supported Bush's spending but were never willing to take the personal responsibility for paying the bills. People get on here and say Obama is spending crazy and taking away personal freedom. I hope those folks were willing to have a massive tax increase for the Iraq war if they supported it, cause if you supported the war but not the taxes that go with it then you have absolutely no real support for the troops and no patriotism that really matters where the rubber meets the road. Do you think it's a problem that Obama has the right to listen to your phone calls, that he can spy on your church that he can arrest you and ship you off with no trial and no right to even know what your charged with? If this is the kind of freedom you're worried about remember who passed those laws. I am willing to listen to criticism about Obama, and there are good points to be made. But, to those Bush supporters who supported an administration that told them that they could have tax cuts and services increases in a time of war. What were you thinking? We are now paying for your foolishness. If you don't want to help pay the bills you created at least maybe you could stop complaining while the fiscally responsible among us work hard to try and avoid the bankruptcy the last administration contributed to. And if you supported the patriot act you have no right to talk about Obama limiting freedom and liberty. The last president and much of the country was so terrified that we fundamentally changed America's legal and consitutional system. You no longer have the right to a trial if you are accused of a crime but the federal government and you think Obama is limiting freedom because he wants health care? Get a grip. If you supported (and the vast majority of the public did) the Bush wars, tax decreases, service increases and consitutional changes, you look rediculous talking about the excesses of Obama.
cdodgela 04/16/2009
He is driving this country into the ground with debt while taking our liberty and freedom away. Wake up people, we are Americans, not Europeans..... If we let what is happening in Washington continue, we will go from "America, land of the free, home of the brave" to "Amerika, land of the socialists, home of the wimps".....
calvinoo 04/16/2009
It seems to me he has already lied to us he said he would'nt pass porkwill it seems he has changed his mind. And I get the feeling he is turning a deaf ear to the voters, people are upset with the bailouts and all the spending and people keep saying don't do it but he keeps on doing it, I thought he worked for the people. And how can a man that claims to be a Christian be so pro abortion? I think he is doing a great job in ruining his chances on winning the next election, don't get me wrong George Bush was good at turning a deaf ear to the people to!
jcspoor 04/16/2009
Excellent performance.Question: Are the wealthy also leaders or are they just special for some unknown reason? The wealthy are those who have control of the distribution of wealth and they have failed to provide for all citizens. Once we have surpassed the minimum requirements for health, food and education the wealthy can once again take the majority of the surplus. Until then the wealthy should give up the surplus in the form of taxes and not loans where they get their money back plus interest.

It's too soon to say for sure. I didn't vote for him, and I fear all the massive borrowing he's utilized in the name of getting us out of this economic condition, but I think we have to give him more time. Maybe he should have just let the chips fall where they lay - let GM and other private companies go out of business. He caved on the Earmarks, which are a disgrace, but maybe next year's budget will be different and eliminate or reduce them. His attitude towards lobbyists (negative) is good - they are a danger to our society. I think there's entirely too much undue adulation of him by the media and some of the public. Let's see what they think of him in a year or so.
gone5421 04/16/2009
too early to tell, but common sense will show the stuff he's doing will destroy what the country was built on. it's not just him but most politicians (Dems & reps) seem corrupt in some way... taking campaign money, earmark money, etc. all equals corruption. vote on issues the way the people want, not in your best interest
Maryellena 04/16/2009
I've always been an Obama fan and to date I'm very happy with his decisions and his administration. I really think it's a little premature to rate his perfomance, he's been our President for less then 3 months. I'm sure the people rating him as terrible would have given him the same rating before he even took office. Let's give him a chance, he inherited a huge mess!
puremutt 04/16/2009
Let's give him at least a year to really rate him. So far, nobody is capable of helping the economy because it's not in one single person's responsibility. It's everyone's.

What needs to be said? He has mortgaged the future of Americans. The American dream was lost for me the day he was elected. It was lost for my children and grandchildren by the end of February. 4 more years of this and there is no doubt America will be a socialist 3rd world country.

He has not done anything I can say that has been good for the US. From spending to setting up a massive goverment to showing no backbone to the extremist Countries of the world.....he has set the downward spiral for the US.In the short time he has been at the helm....He HAS done one thing he promised...and that he DID bring CHANGE...... He has Changed this Proud Strong Country into a weak and mousy one.I am honestly FEARFUL of the future of My Country...I weep for her everyday.

Mr. President, you are doing a wonderful job of keeping your promises. Even theose die hard rebuplicans are confused. They keep complaining about taxes and fail to see that taxes have been cut for most of the country. I am so pleased with this administration that I just can't express it! After being driven to the poor house by the past administration, anything would feel good now. But you have really made me believe in the possibility of having a government of the people, by the people and for the people. God bless you and your wonderful family!
eyrurekli 04/15/2009
I can nto blame him for something that he came into that was already screw as the economy. IT does not take two months to resolve something that the Republicans detroyed as in Bush over the 8 years that he was in office.I think Obama is doing an great job but it take not just Obama but others as us in the USA to try to fix this. It is a world issue now not just the USA.
davelester1940 04/15/2009
He is spending my money like a drunken sailor. One can not borrow and spend his way to prosperity. I also don't care for the way he is enlarging government. It was already way too big and George Bush did nothing to help that problem. I believe in Thomas Jefferson's statement, " That government which governs best, governs least."
dspolson 04/15/2009
I really do not understand how using more credit is going to fix a credit crisis! It's kinda like putting out a fire by pouring gasoline on it. Also, I too would like to know where the money is going to come from to cover the mosterous deficit being created by President Obama. If we as Americans wrote checks on money we don't have, at the minimum we would incur over draft charges at our bank, and if it was intentional, we could do time in jail, why is it that when the government needs more money, they just write another check on the Federal Reserve Bank against funds that aren't there, and get praise for doing it. I hear all that Obama claims to be doing for the American people, yet I haven't benefited form it, nor has anyone I know. Being a disabled veteran on the government records (although the disability is minimal), I would think I would at least hear about possible help that has been put in place for those in my shoes. Yet to date I haven't heard a word. I for one am looking foward to the next election.Dave PolsonRedding, California

Barrack Obama is not dealing with reality.Where does he think all these trillions of dollars are going to come from.He was the biggest liberal in congress and he hasn't changed his ways .He is on the way to bankrupting America. What were we thinking?
magellan 04/15/2009
Mixed bag so far.I'm not happy about the bailouts, I'm not happy about all the cabinet appointees who didn't pay taxes (I have to pay MY taxes), it took a long time to come up with a plan for the liquidity crunch, I was pissed about the idiotic trade war with Mexico over 90 trucks, and there have been some other quibbles. He has done some of the things that he said he would do like start the process of shutting down Guantanamo, shift resources towards going after the Al Qaeda / The Taliban (those who paint this guy as a dove aren't paying attention), take steps to spark the economy (I support deficit spending in the face of a depression), etc.And I'm not going to lie to you - when I listen to him discuss things like the housing bubble and foreign policy, I hear a lot more depth and preparedness than I heard from his incurious predecessor - this reassures me.After four years we'll have a better sense of whether the deficit can be brought under control, and whether we are witnessing unusual spending in the face of unusual conditions, or we are witnessing big government for the sake of big government, with no chance of paying for it.
numbah16tdhaha 04/15/2009
I'm not exactly thrilled about the economic spendulous package we just had rammed down our throats, but it is indeed too early to really say much accept that so far I am unsurprised by anything I've seen to this point. Of course the Kool Aid drinkers of both varieties will soon descend upon this item for their battle royal. Happy flaming, Kool Aid drinkers.UPDATE: Well, I've got a couple months more of data than when I last chimed in and I still haven't seen any miracles. I've seen my government get bigger and I'm not pleased with that, but on the upside he did let our guys do their job and pop those damn pirates in the dome, so my rating won't slide YET. I'm watching, Barry...
MartialArtsMom 04/15/2009
I am not expecting miracles form President Obama, just intelligence, integrity and hard work to try and dig us out of our economic hole. So far, so good. If our taxes build needed infrastructure, protect our children from unsafe food and unsafe toys, maintain national parks and provide a safety net of decency for the elderly, the poor and the sick, I'm okay with paying them. I'm just grateful to be able to work and contribute to the civic community.

Obama is a spend thrift liberal, big government Socialist. You don't ever spend your way out of debt. Policies are detrimental to the progress of the moral and religious values of this nation. Abortion on demand for instance. The reason this nation is in the dilemma she faes today is because of the rejection of God in our public society. We have kicked him out of our schools and as well out of our communities with this rediculous unfounded "Separation of church and state" brought on by the idiots at the ACLU. The Constitution says..."Congress shall make no law concerning the establishment of religion." It was made to keep government out of declaring any denomination the reigning religion of a nation. It was to keep the state out of the church not the churches out of the state! Hopefully, after these four years are expired, people will come back to their senses and vote for physical and spiritual responsibility.

Will his efforts to re-vitalize America's ruined economy be successful? Who can say? Certainly no one on this website, including me. I remember remarking to a friend at the time he was elected, "It's good he got in, but he'll need more than skill to make right all that's been made wrong-- better to be a magician waving a magic wand." Not surprisingly, those you knew were going to vilify him even before he took the oath of office are, for all the predictable reasons (you knew the term "socialist" was coming). All I can say is that I thank whatever God or gods exist nightly that McCain and Tina Fey didn't get elected. Think we're in bad shape now?

After the President Bush this guy is Awesome!!!!! Finally we have a President with some intelligence and some good old fashioned Midwestern commonsense. In 10 weeks President Obama has done more to help our Country than G.W. Bush did in 8 years. Actually President Obama is in a position to have to clean up the mess that the Bush administration caused. The finance problem didn't just happen since Obama took office 10 weeks ago..it was the trickle down ecomomics that has failed misserably. About the economic plan..At one time I thought the same thing about not spending money until I realized that I inadvertantly could cause myself to lose my job. If everyone stops spending and my job depends on people buying my bosses product...guess what?! I won't have a job anymore, so be careful what you wish for out there, It may come back to bite you and then you'll really have a reason to be upset.....The only one you will have to blame for losing your job is yourself and your idiot followers that wanted our President to fail. It's really scarey how the media is turning into a propaganda machine that makes seemingly smart people do some really dumb stuff...like the tea party.
Drummer4Jesus 04/15/2009
Let's take a look at the track record: *All of his initial nominees were tax dodgers or fraudulent filers*He has travelled Europe for the G20, and gained no concessions or guarantees of help*He kisses Castro's political rear end, and Castro snubs him*He denies ownership of the countries existing debts, but wants to triple or (shudder) quadruple them*He sends our tax dollars to Mexico to kill babies*He refuses to relinquish hold over banks that want to return the TARP money (we call that a power grab)*His appointee to DHS labels as a security risk anyone who: rejects federal authority in favor of state or local authority (We call that the 10th Amendment, so they must mean our founding fathers), opposes abortion, or opposes immigation amnesty. (In short, if you disagree with Obama's positions, you must be a domestic terrorist? WTF?)*He wants the Federal government to own private business (GM?)*His Treasury appointee praises a communist for his mental prowess and wise ideas relating to economic processes? He at least earns a 1 for taking the leash off and letting the military do their job against the pirates; he could have rated a 2 if he hadn't waited until the captain had a gun to his head. (And RIA doesn't have a 0, which looks like an O, which stands for Obama...yep, big trouble, right here in River City.)Well, I have been to the country he is trying to make...we call it China. Ni hao ma? BU HAO!Maybe we could get him to go back to voting "present"?

You're doing an absolutely horrid job!You had the ability to undue most of the previous moron's mistakes and instead you expand them!Eveyone should watch the FREE movie on Google Video called the "Obama Deception". My review isn't about the Democratic Party or the Republican Party or whether he is black or white. It's about how he follows the Constitution.....which he doesn't. He's just another corporate puppet.Just watch "Obama Deception" and start doing some friggin research instead of just drinking the kool-aid.

Mr. President, you are doing a great job, you have a tough job ahead of you, and you are keeping your head screwed on straight and I applaud you. Those on the far right, those wingnuts at Faux News and their brainwashed supporters are following Boss Limbaugh's and Dick Armeys marching orders. Intelligence and insightfulness, attentiveness and the art of being calm will win anyday over ignorance and blind support. I don't agree with everything you do, but as far as being a statesman and a great American, I applaud you! I am proud to have voted for you and would do so again IN A HEARTBEAT! Keep up the good work and keep doing America proud!
