Greivis Vasquez is a very good college basketball player, and when he is on his game, he is capable of being as good an all around player as anybody in the NCAA. He is a very emotional player, which I think leads to him playing very streaky. Last season he was a second team All ACC selection as a sophomore, but he has slumped during much of his junior year. He is still averaging over 16 points, 5 rebounds, and 4 assists per game, but this is a bit disappointing for a guy who had a ton of expectations put on him this season. I think Vasquez has been hurt by a Maryland team that lacks any sort of inside presence. They aren't a balanced team, which has hurt them against good half-court squads. Overall though he is still a player to watch for, because you never know when he might pull off something impressive like he did today in the Terp's upset of #3 North Carolina.

He can play. It doesn't hurt that as a member of the Venezuela national team, he got the chance to match up against guys like Jason Kidd and Kobe Bryant over the summer - not too many college juniors (with the exception of Patty Mills at St Marys) can say the same.Vasquez is an athletic 6'6", can handle the ball, and is a very good shooter. Before all is said and done, he will likely go down as the best player ever from Venezuela.
