Hard to believe, but he (along with Frank Thomas) is actually under-rated. One of the all-time greats.

I wish there were more players like Bagwell, who spent all 15 of his solid years with one team. Bags showed unquestionable team loyalty even when he could have looked to move to a team with a better chance of winning a championship. At least he had his two best shots at a World Series ring in his two final seasons, 2004 and (most heartbreakingly) 2005, when the Astros got swept by the White Sox.

Great run producer throughout his career. True professional. Steroid allegations aside, the best Astro ever(?).

Great overall hitter and unquestioned team leader. As a former Houston resident, I can truly say this guy was Astros royalty--second only to Nolan Ryan. Good glovesman and underrated baserunner too. Have to admit I was always suspicious of the fact he looked so much bigger once the mid 90's rolled around. He, Juan Gonzales and Ivan Rodriquez all experienced a vast physical change around the same time. A devoted weight lifter? Or did Ken Caminiti give Bags the hookup? Until there's proof, we gotta leave it alone. Have no problem with Bags being in Cooperstown--as long as Andre Dawson, Jim Rice, Keith Hernandez, Al Oliver and Vada Pinson get in too. Those guys all belong. If not, they should've at least gotten far more consideration. Not everyone needs to be a stat god like Hank Aaron or Ty Cobb to be a HOFer.

Always a run-scoring threat. Great power, above average defense. Hit many homeruns in the spacious Astrodome. RBI machine with smart baserunning skills. Team leader, consistent player.

One of the few guys in the National League that possesses that whole aura of an intimidating clean-up hitter. McGwire and Sosa are too nice to really come across that way.
