I did not have a good experience with Lightning Van Lines. I DO NOT recommend this company. My experience: The company's original estimate seemed like a good deal. But after the delivery, they charged me twice the amount of their original quote. So instead of $2,300 it was $4,500. It cost $4,500 to move a one bedroom!! The heaviest thing I had was a treadmill. I paid to have them pack my stuff. To be fair, one of the guys was great. He was very careful in packing. The other two guys were horrible!! They would open a drawer and just start throwing things into a box. For example, they threw my $500 radio in a box with shoes, a scale and other random belongings. And when I say threw, I mean they didn't organize the box, they just started tossing things in like the box was a waste basket.I paid extra to have them transport my stuff on to a smaller truck because an 18-wheeler could not get into my complex. The delivery person didn't read this on my contract. We had to remind him on the day of delivery. So they were a day late because they had to rent a UHaul. On top of that they didn't call us to let us know they were on their way. What was broke: The leg of my treadmill, dining room chair, dining room table is incredibly scratched, wooden TV tray stand and bedroom TV stand. And I have some random things missing which means one of my boxes is missing/was never delivered. What makes this experience even worse is their claims service makes it a huge pain to get reimbursed for damages. It's not even worth it because you get .60 cents per pound and you have to provide pictures and have a furniture repair company come to give estimates on how much it would cost to fix. You have to provide those estimates to Lightning Van Lines. So basically if they broke something, you have to go through a long, time-consuming process of getting estimates. And if you have something that is expensive but not heavy that broke, you won't get anything for it. I will never use this company again, and I advise you not to either.

Great customer service when taking my order but when it came to the actual moving part that's where the problems started. 1st the moving truck was supposed to be at my home between the hours of 10 am to 1pm but did not get there till just after three in the afternoon. Being that this was my last day in california I had a plan to go do some sight seeing but because they showed up late it screwed that idea all up. So I accepted that and just went on. When they did finally get there they were just sitting in their truck eating lunch in the parking lot of my apartments when i asked why they were so late they told me that they simply could not find the apartment, (pretty hard to do if you're inside truck eating lunch if you ask me) anyways when they did get inside my place thay asked me to sign their paperwork before ever really looking at what all I had to be moved. Keep in mind the paperwork was still blank at this point when he asked me to sign. We were told at booking that we would be able to follow the truck to the weigh station, so that we would know what amount to expect to pay for our items. We quickly found out that this was also a lie because the movers would not be going to a scale at that time.Recently, we picked up our items. This was also a disaster. We had informed the company when we made our reservation that because we lived in Canada, we would be picking up our items at a parking lot in a nearby U.S. border town. This was a huge issue for the driver. He seemed unable to agree with us on a place for drop off of items. When we finally agreed on a Wal-Mart parking lot, he was very late in arriving. First he said that he would be there at 7am. Then he said 9:30am. Finally he arrived at about 11:30am. Prior to pick up of our items, we had packed all of our belongings in large plastic tupperware - style bins. They were large 18 gallon bins. We figured this would be the safest place for our belongings. Were we ever wrong. When we met with the moving truck, we were horrified to see that many of our belongings were strewn all over the trailer and numerous bins were cracked and broken up. They had been hastily mended back together using duct tape. Sarcastically, the driver told me, "Well, you try riding back here for 3000 miles and see how you feel." To save space, we decided to pack our clothing in large vaccum sealed space bags. We were told this was okay. When we looked in the truck, we found that almost all of the bags were torn and what looked to be manhandled. Also, our clothing was all over the trailer. All in all, this was a very bad experience. We are glad it is over, but we will never use lightning van lines again.

I would recommend Lightning Van Lines for their wonderful customer service. They helped me move from Texas to Nebraska . This particular moving company helped us with everything that is required for a good move. They are very well equipped to facilitate the move. I became quite familiar with them as they kept on updating me about the moving plan. I was little apprehensive about the move. They were the ones who packed all my stuffs with care and loaded them. The kind, gentle professionals also unpacked and arranged all my stuffs in Nebraska just the way it was in Texas. They were really very helpful and courteous. You did a splendid job.
