As much as I love macs, my PowerMac G3 All-In-One was a piece of crap. It froze all the time, had little memory (I couldn't install OS X), etc. However, I believe this was partly my fault, as I bought it used. I am now setting my sights upon a NEW G4 iBook.

I would rather own a PC that is 2-3 years old over a Brand new current Apple computer....

Apple's are something you eat...not try to figure out.

great machine

Long live Mac! Have a first-generation G3 (266MHz) and it's still going strong.
Rehab 01/15/2001
The browser is faster, however it is not user friendly. It's not easy to use. The mouse and the keyboard are not comfortable enough.
eminus 01/11/2001
Being a graphic arts major, we mainly use Macs, excellent for this application. The G3s are powerful and capable of doing multiple tasks. Mac users will love it.
igotaby 01/10/2001
I have used this and still prefer PC. Mac's are not very user friendly in the first place. It does not provide a good platform for programmers. It serves well for multimedia purposes and desktop publishing, but for regular PC users and programmers, the Mac G3 is a no go.
The Ant 12/07/2000
With Apple introducing new computer models this past convention, the old grey G3 prices have been heading downward, making the 400Mhz G3 a fantastic steal. Sleek casing, great graphics and hands down the best operating system make this bad boy a good buy. Plus, the price of a system, monitor, and printer can now come out to be a little over $1,500. Thus, there is no reason to buy a PC instead.
Yakka 11/30/2000
This is an excellent computer because I enjoy its ease of use. It comes with tons of features and has all I really need in a computer. I also like the look; very stylish. It is definitely a grabber.
HBK2K 11/21/2000
I hear it's okay but I don't really like Macs in general. I think that the good features are that it's very basic and easy to use. I also like that it's fast, but it's still a Mac.
cmclaughlin 11/20/2000
Stylish and very fast. East to upgrade with the fold down door on the side. Unlimitable expandability options (i.e. more RAM, hard drive, etc.), reliable operating system and applications software.
cruzngmstr 10/31/2000
NOOO! Please get that computer away from me! This computer is garbage. I had this computer and it was not worth the money I spent on it. The damned thing takes too long to load any program (esp. art programs), and forget the internet. In my opinion the only place fitting for this "rotten" apple is the garbage.
jedi 10/31/2000
This still runs faster than a Pentium III 500mhz!
mishaneah 10/26/2000
The only problem I've heard of with G3s is on the Yosemite motherboard (1st revision, black and white). It had a problem with the IDE bus. In the others (Sawtooth motherboard), they work perfectly and are very fast, I highly recommend them. A few of my friends have them and love them.
sloan 10/25/2000
I'm not big on Apple computers, but the G3 is one of Macintosh's best. G3 is fast for an Apple computer, but reliable. The operating system is so easy to use a two year old can use it.
ethereal 10/05/2000
I like the fact that Macintosh has far superior architecture to IBM, that its user interface is the original version of what WinBlows is a copy of. Plus, so much awesome multimedia software, sound and graphic manipulation tools.
Fren8991om 07/24/2000
The G3 is a very reliable computer, as every Mac. However, it is not capable of supporting internet use. Trying to consult pages that use Java usually leads to crashing the computer.
cher8922du 07/21/2000
It's a fast computer, when it's not freezing up, which is rare. For some reason, the G3's I worked on never fail to freeze. If you get one, make sure you save your work as you go along.
ncoh8865rg 07/20/2000
A terrific deal for its price. All the power you will need out of a desktop computer for a relatively low price. Plus the ease of the Mac OS. If you're looking for a fast, affordable Mac, this is the one.
hors8635et 07/15/2000
While the iMac lacks a 3.5 floppy drive, the G3 makes up for a similar lack by incorporating a zip drive, making file sharing and tranfers easier. Also, the G3 has enough power, speed, and space for any professional. The only other drawback to buying a G3 is the price. With the Pentium III chip available, G3 prices should come down to a competitive range, yet Apple has yet to lower prices.
Niza8585om 07/14/2000
Not that great. It lacks the operating system. It is not user friendly and is very slow.
makr8076om 07/03/2000
The PowerMac G3 Series computers are the first revolutionary CPU to come out that has enough processing power to defeat the P3 by just about 2x over. The PPC G3 is a stable computer and is great for business, home, and leisure.
WRON8017om 06/30/2000
Very fast computer, comparable to the G4. I like the option where they have a standard firewire port. I don't like the round mouse.
jbhs7867du 06/26/2000
The power Macs memory capabilities are superior to that of a PC, if you are willing to pay the money for it. The Macs sleek monitor and mouse design makes browsing the internet or writing papers fun and hi-tech. The see through monitor is a different look from the normal PC.
mama7824du 06/25/2000
Crashes a lot. Too slow. Problems with PC conversions, although it is easy to use, and friendly, but problems do arise as I've mentioned.

Pefect computer for graphic design. More powerful than most desktop computers. High quality screen.
chan7596om 06/20/2000
Okay for speed and graphics.
seah7582du 06/20/2000
More fun than the iMac because it finally has a color that a man can be proud of...grey. Unfortunately, it is very difficult to expand anything. You have to buy additional ports, including one for a floppy drive. Also, it is difficult to extend the memory, so you are stuck with what you buy.
life7472om 06/17/2000
I am on a PC a lot, and when I tested these PowerMac's, I found them to be sluggish and not very user friendly. Their interface is quite confusing. It's expensive. A PC with all the same features is hundreds of dollars less.
setz7356om 06/12/2000
This computer does what it says, but it is too expensive. It looks good though. It is great for the high end user who focuses on graphics.
djen7251us 06/08/2000
Easy to use machine that you can use for multimedia.
ljm37149om 06/05/2000
Better than the I-Mac. It's more powerful an easier to use. It's great for graphic designs but the computer itself is too big.
kyan7037om 05/31/2000
Very fast and very powerful system. I do multimedia work on it. I use flash, director, photoshop, and other production programs and applications. It consistantly keeps track of how much power it has left to run. The screen is super clear even when compared to regular monitors. JBC speakers built in gives a cool sound effects. I highly recommed it.
mike6878om 05/22/2000
This is a top quality computer. It is ideal for graphics. It has good speed and good OS platform.
sauc6703om 05/16/2000
This computer is great for graphics. The computer is great for pictures, scanning and video games. The computer is very fast and has a lot of memory. People who are involved in some form of the arts or photography should buy this type of computer.

One of the finest machines that I've ever had the pleasure of working one. Makes surfing the Internet a pleasure, as well as handling large, complicated spreadsheets and graphic files with ease.

dhec4450du 03/08/2000
Faster than a speeding bullet when it comes to the Internet, and very user-friendly. But what genius thought it wouldn't be necessary to put in a floppy drive? Zips are great, but everyone in my school's closest computer lab complains about how they don't need 100 MB of secondary storage space, and have to walk across campus to find a computer that will handle their disks.

Face it, Apples are rotten.
phuk4313om 02/18/2000
No software for apples, propriatary technology, slower than comparable IBM clones, very expensive and a declining user base of old hippies and leftist yuppie college professors......why buy it?

Copper IBM microprocessor, 300 MHz-LoneStar chip in the Blue and White tower configuration. This machine is running MAC OS 9 quite stably. In addition, this model, an educator's version with a bundled 17-inch Apple Studio Display, sports the ATI VR video card and AVID Cinema. I'd recommend this machine any day to anybody. was a

I have worked with PC's and Mac's and my G3 never fails me or freezes up. Great computer!
esc@2957et 12/11/1999
I love this machine - it is fast and has only crashed twice in the past six months (unlike my windows box at work, which is awful). Almost as important as its reliability is its sense of design. There are reasons why some people drive nice cars and other people don't -- the same is happening with computers.

Apples are faster, they have a better operating system, and they are easier to use.
