Vadem Clio 4

I have had mine for a week now, and like it very much, BUT... As a long time Apple Newton user (2100), the handwriting recognition is better, but the pen based editing commands as they stand are not enough, not easily invoked, & not as intuitive as they could be. I hope this will be corrected in future versions of the software. Still, it is usable. The screen is nice, and the color great. The ad copy claims about 11 hrs for the battery charge, but I can't get above 5 hours use before I need to change batteries. One of my major uses is drawing engineering drafts while travelling & then needing to fax them in. The graphics programs that came bundled with the system, although adequate, lack the ease of forming regular shaped squares & circles as the Apple did. Again, I hope to see this improved.

Very cool form factor -- has a unique flip-top screen which is much more flexible in terms of the ways in can be positioned than the run-of-the-mill clamshell. Kind of heavy for a CE machine, though -- just slightly more, you might be able to get a subnotebook weighing the same or less, and you're able to do a lot more with a full version of Windows.
