I had this laptop for a few weeks only and needed to return it. My main concern was the keyboard, for me, they were not soft-to-the-touch, I mean you needed to have "finger strength" whenever you use them. My fingers got really tired of typing after doing some work online. The rest of the features were really good though.

I have been using an Acer TravelMate 4500+ for over a year. I have been impressed with its performance and durability. In a burst of anger I literally slammed the machine to the floor. Other than a slight crack on an end, it has continued to work flawlessly. While I would not recommend such rough treatment, the experience has won me over. One criticism is that I believe the keyboard could be improved some. Of course, there is new technology out there since I bought my machine, but I would certainly give strong consideration to an Acer machine the next time around.

I bought a 4000 Series total of $987 including tax, shipping and everything else. This is my first notebook that I bought. I am very impressive with the design and LCD quality. Haven't experience their support services yet. I bought it at www.pcmall.com

Had to buy a 3000 dollar piece of crap for school... Anyone considering a laptop, don't even consider Acer. It's the second worst computer I've ever had behind a Packard Bell.

It's a great small and light notebook. Great for powerful and large programs.

Real piece of crap. My sister had one and had nothing but problems. She wanted to throw it away.

I don't like the Acer 505 DX that I bought Feb. 2000. I bought a 400Mhz Celeron, 32MB RAM, 4.3 Gig HD and already I have had to mail it back in. I bear in mind that I bought a bare bones base model, but the HD still shouldn't have failed. The system seems slower than other complicated laptops and takes up to 5 minutes to boot. This particular model is rather large and ugly. However, I have been very pleased with the comprehensive accessories and software bundle it came with. The customer care is excellent and so is the literature.

It is slim and really convenient for carrying around. Looks great and saves space on the desk too. I love the touchpad. Works great and has a great scroll function. Very friendly too.
