Idiocracy made less than half a million dollars in theaters, so its not something that I had a bunch of expectations about. Comedy Central has been playing it lately, and I watched it start to finish while in the hospital recently. The premise is that stupid people reproduce at a faster rate than those who are educated. Most of the movie takes place 500 years from now when the entire population has been bred into stupidity. Luke Wilson's character is an ordinary guy who emerges from a military experiment after having his body preserved over the last half millenium, and finds himself the smartest person in the world.
Yes...the plot is bizarre and doesn't make sense. However, there are enough funny moments, that this is a likable movie. I imagine many people watching this movie and not being able to get through it due to its stupidity. However, I like dumb comedies, and was mildly entertained.
