One of the greatests champions ever. She won the most Majors in Singles and Doubles. So we just may compare her with the best of the best: Graf, Navratilova, Evert. But: in my opinion there is a Big "but": The most of her Major-Titles she won at the Australian Open, which were not a real international tournament that time. She won the Grand Slam - but three of four tournaments were played on grass courts. So even if she won two more Major-titles in my feeling Graf lays in front...

Court should have won more Wimbledons (only 3). She won the Australian Open 11 times but against mainly nobody's (except Goolagong in 71 and 73) Take out the Australian Open titles and you havent got much. Sorry, but Margaret Court played in an era when after Billie-Jean the next best players were Virginia Wade and Rosie Casals (who?) Very disappointing big time player who also made irreverent excuses including a famous one when she told the world she was pregnant during the 1971 Wimbledon Final loss to Goolagong. So What.....Evert also had her measure and she really was quite a bore. Way superior to Wade but way inferior to Navratilova

at her time she was as dominant as later graf or navratilova. she won the most single major titles. but most of them are the australian open. So she took a bit advantage of that it wasnt so popular to play there - before the so called open aera. but she also is that player with the most wins including the double and mixed. she won a grand-slam. this puts her in front of navratilova. its not her fought that at this time three of four were held on grass-court. on one level with graf and navratilova. for me personally a bit behind graf and a bit before navratilova. but this is at least a question of personal taste. a legend!

Powerful, athletic serve and volley player. Unfortunately, her game showed cracks against opponents like Billie Jean and Chris Evert who were not intimidated by her and pressurized her.

Margaret Court was a great player with a powerful serve and voley game at a time when such a style was extremely rare among the women. Despite her 24 grand slam titles, and her winning of the grand slam, she remains underrated player. She usually beat all the great contemporaries of her time such as Billie Jean King, Evonne Goolagong, Virginia Wade, etc. Chris Evert was the only player whom Margaret failed to conquer. Margaret's the nerves were rather frail and sometimes let her down and prevented her from achieving even more. I salute this great champion.

Should a true champion be so mean as to be homophobic. (Do you guys and gals remember Margaret knocking Martina after Navratilova won the 1990 Wimbledon as being "a poor role model and example?") I don't think so! After all, being classy, at important times, is a part of a being a true champion.
