She won 269 of 270 matches including her professional career! The only match that she lost was because she was sick and had to abandon. She dropped only two sets In her 232 amateur career matches and won a lot of sets by 6-0. She won almost all her matches with ridiculous easiness. Definitely she must be the number one female player of all time.

different periods of time a hardly to compare. we shouldnt be too arrogant in that. every time has its heros - and this player was a definitely a sensation at her time. not only the courts but also roofs and windowws of houses in the neighbarhood were filled with people when she played some of her famous exhibition-matches. tennis was a bit a kind of exclusive club. instead of water she took a cognac to refresh herself during the sidechange, they say. and the australian open were just to reach by ship. so she never took part. but these ones who saw called her the godness and she dominated the game like no one before. of course i never saw her playing. but a godness earns to get the highest vote.

May have been great for her time, but no way could she belong on the same court as a Graf or Seles. Those ridiculous ballet jumps she did was to get the crowd on her side, it had nothing to do with "grace".
