 | RockyRaccoon (4) 07/17/2008 | The Grandfather of "Professional" wrestling. Would it be what it is today without him?

 | Djahuti (57) 02/10/2006 | Way back when I'd watch Saturday Night Wrestling on a 13 inch Black & White TV,this guy was my favorite.Since then, the sport has lost its charm for me.It's now like a comic circus!

Bruno is indeed the Living Legend. He legitimately holds box office records at MSG. Other wrestlers claim they performed before sold out crowds but it's usually fabricated. He was a natural strongman who's always lived a clean lifestyle. A quintessential role model. He kept the WWF in business on a few occasions. There was 1 definite point in time when the elder Vince was considering going out of business due to a decline in attendance. Bruno came back and sparked the territory. For this reason alone Bruno is a HOFer. However, Bruno has publicly stated he does'nt want to be honored due to how the business has turnd out. I respect him even more for his flawless integrity!

 | ThinkAboutYourWords (0) 09/21/2005 | All Around great grappler, Tough Wreslter, My father remembers the days of the Great Bruno, Truly a pioneer of the wrestling business, He was of the First and Great First Generation Wrestlers he walked the path with the late Gorilla Monsoon, and King Harley Race, these guys were getting old when i watched them and even then the second generation wrestlers couldnt match them. I'd love to see a slob on that program now try to go with him in the ring in his prime, they wouldnt know how to act with real wrestling.

 | Savage Fan (0) 09/24/2004 | As a kid growing up in the 70's, and watching old wwf shows at 12p.m., I would never get the chance to watch Bruno wrestle on t.v. so you had to go to Madison Square Garden. I tell you the man was a killer, not only could he wrestle, but his brawling....No wrestler could stand up to him. From matches against Koloff, Graham (who I idolized, even till this day)Zybsko and later in his career in the 80's against wrestlers like Savage (another favorite and Adonis). Man, he killed them. Once he got you in the corner, he ripped apart your midsection. People forget, he actually wrestled with a broken neck against Stan Hansen. If you guys ever get old tapes see those matches. Hell, see as much Sammartino matches as you can. Even Hogan wa afraid!

 | callitdowntheline75 (69) 08/17/2004 | At first glance, Bruno Sammartino did not look like today's prototypical wrestler (muscular/mesomorph). But what he lacked in looks he made up for in grappling ability. No wrestler held on to a World Heavyweight title longer, nor has defended the title against so many of the top-notch competitors of his era so consistently. If Sammartino wasn't the greatest wrestler of all-time, he certainly deserves to be amongst the top ten. But there is no doubt he was the greatest world champion of this sport.

 | alpepper (22) 05/26/2004 | In the mists of my childhood memories, Bruno Sammartino was the god-king of wrestling. No storylines or scripted drama for Bruno. He was a classic wrestler who knew ever grappling move known to man. But he was also tough as nails and he could punch and kick with the best of them. Always had class; I could never imagine him participating in today's sleazy WWE environment. Bruno lacked the size of some of today's 'roided freaks, but I think he could take anybody today.

 | Mat Mann (0) 08/02/2001 | Bruno, a true champion wrestler and a gentlemen, things that are foreign to today's WWF. Even the heroes are slimeballs now, which is why many of us search for tapes of the 60's and 70's wrestling shows. Tune in Classic Wrestling on ESPN Classic cable channel on Sat. mornings, 7-8 EST for a reminder of what real wrestling looked like.

 | KRAMNOR (0) 04/13/2001 | Bruno is the greatest wrestler in history, back when wrestling didn't need gimmicks. Bruno held the championship belt a long time, nowadays it changes week to week so holding the belt means nothing. Bruno's famous finishing hold was the bear-hug. He would squeeze the air out of you. Bruno had classic matches against Superstar Billy Graham, Stan "the Man" Hansen and the not so classic match with Japan's Antonio Inoki, who turned it to a kick fest, but at the tail end of his career he had probably the most famous match against his protege Larry Zbyszko. Bruno's last match was at his Hometown Pittsburgh at the Civic Arena in a steel cage. He pummeled Zbyszko in to oblivion. I saw Bruno a couple of months ago at a gas station and he looked like he could jump into the ring and not miss a beat. Bruno was the last great wrestler. Don't be fooled by today's wrestlers, Bruno had more wrestling ability in his pinkie than these guys have in their entire body.
Like a lot of wreslters back then, they started with an amateur background, today they go to wrestling school. Look for videos of Bruno, you won't be disappointed.
