Hecht's (Now Macy's) 1

DONE WITH MACYS!  HORRIBLE SERVICE IF YOU ORDER ANYTHING! FRAUD, SCAM AND CANNOT GET THE RETURN DONE. I went into the Naples Store for advertised luggage. They did not have the pieces and ordered it for me. I ordered two pieces of Delsey lugguage. I went home, and looked online and found the 2 pieces $70 cheaper at ebags.com plus a free third bag and a free back pack. I called Macys and cancelled my order. I was very happy with ebags, except one piece of the Delsey had a broken zipper. I emailed them and they sent out a new bag overnight and emailed me a return label. They had UPS pick up the damaged item and even gave me 25% off my next item. Done!  BACK TO MACYS.  THE ORDER I CANCELLED ARRIVED!!!!!! $330 charged to my amex. I called Macys 17 times in 6 weeks and they kept promising me they emailed me and sent me the return labels. NO LABELS. TOOK 3-4 DAYS TO RESPOND TO EMAILS. THE CUST SERVICE PEOPLE KEPT SAYING "CHECK YOUR EMAIL..." AND IT WAS NOT THERE OR IN MY SPAM BOX. THEY HAVE TO ORDER IT FROM SOME OTHER DEPT. I finally asked for a supervisor, she said that nothing was sent out because it was to go back to their TN distro center that had been being remodeled. She promised me a gift card for my trouble and promised to mail the labels that day. TEN DAYS LATER... we are now talking TEN WEEKS LATER and 23 phone calls and 17 emails.... I GOT ONE LABEL NOT TWO.  TEN DAYS LATER... to respond I got another email. LAST STRAW - UPS does not pick up you have to DRAG the luggage to the POST OFFICE and pay for insurance and delivery confirmation. IT HAS BEEN ANOTHER 12 DAYS and no credit or confirmation on delivery. NO GIFT CARD HAS ARRIVED EITHER.

I WILL NEVER SHOP AT MACYS AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!  DO not ever order anything from them, they frustrate you into keeping it. It's a SCAM!

I lovd Hecht's. I'm sorry that they are gone.  I hate Macy's. I hate their parade. I hate every thing about them.

I went to Hecht's because of an ad on television. I paid and the sales associate couldn't figure out why I wasn't qualifying for the discount. She sent me back to the Executive Offices where I was treated rudely and was told the written ad in the paper explained all the limitations. I said that was not shown on the television ad and she shrugged and said it still applies. This is typical with misleading sales tactics from Hecht's, many times they have signs on racks that they say the items did not belong on, even though there are 10 items on it.

Hecht's is fallen in the past few years and remains average at best when compared to its competitors (eg Dillard's and Macy's). The stores don't seem as clean and feel more cluttered. Nevertheless, one can often find items on sale at Hecht's that are full price elsewhere.

On 2/7/05 I was shopping in Hecht's at my local shopping center. I found a bathroom rug and seat cover which I really liked because I am presently having my bathroom remodeled and these items were a perfect match. There was a sale sign above the items which stated everything was $9.99, a markdown from $20.00 per item. When I went to pay for the items, the amount rang up at the full price. I mentioned the sign, the clerk looked at the sign and agreed with me. She couldn't find the manager to ask about this but talked to a Hecht's employee walking past who was not able to assist but advised my clerk to ring the items up at the sale price. Instead, the clerk went back to look at the sign. She returned to the register and advised that the sales price was for items on a table on the other side of the sign, not for the items I wanted to purchase. I decided I did not want to purchase the items at full price so left the store. This signage was confusing; in fact, I believe, misleading, perhaps intentionally. Hecht's needs to change their signs to either being printed on only one side or putting the sign in an area where it will pertain to only the sales items. Although I have found many good bargains at Hecht's sales, I find this was misleading advertising and I left the store disappointed.

I usually go for major sales, and though sometimes the help is young, or new, or very frazzled, I have never had an unpleasant word directed at me. The store can be very messy at times, but like I said, I go for major sales.

Over the years I have been a very loyal, dedicated customer at Hecht's. It started from Caster Knott's,Proffits to Hecht's. On 2/11/2004 I visited the Bellevue center Mall in Nashville, TN. I had never been to this mall but after the great discounts, quoted by ms. cheap, a co-worker and I decided that we would take our lunch our and try it out. I was not prepared for the treatments that we both received. First one of the sales women passed us on her way to the elevator as we were searching thru the items and made a comment, finding everything ok, please don't try on any of the merchandise. I looked at my friend and she had the same puzzled look on her face as I did. I then asked, did she say what I thought she said, and I repeated the comment? She smiled at me and said yes that's exactly what she said. We talked about it a while but then agreed to let it go, after all we knew our time was limited and had to travel about 20 miles back to work. After reaching the check out counter, the drama continued. We stood in line waiting to be checked out while the two sales people chatted to another person who apparently they knew very well, she even was allowed to come behind the counter. There we stood waiting. Every item we had there was a problem with, it either was not at that discount price or we were charged a price that we did not agree with. My friend was even charged with a item she did not have in her bag and had to return to the store to let the sales person know she had made a mistake. We not only returned to work late, but we were late and a little angry. We talked about our adventure on the way back to work and decided to return to the same store again to see if maybe we had read more into the situation that it really was. On 2/18/2004 we went back to purchase some pants that were advertised on sale. This time, a different sales person allowed two older women to be checked out before us, even tho we stood in line before them. My friend had this very funny look on her face and the sales person ask her if she was ok, of course she agreed that she was ok, but deep down inside we both wanted to say, no, we are not ok, why are you allowing them to be checked out before us when we were in line first. But being the people that we are we didn't make a fuss. after all they were two little old white women and we were two big black ones, who knew if we created a scene the faces and faults would be directed towards us. As the sales person checked out the other two women she went to talked to them about the big sale that would be going on in the next couple of weeks, not looking our way what so ever, avoiding eye contact with either of us. My friend paid for her items first, and then me. At first I was going to use my Hecht's credit card but then decided against it, as my purchase was only $22.02, so I wrote a check. I was asked to see my driver's license, and a another credit card, which I showed her my visa card and asked her if she needed any other type credit information. For $22.02, I found this a bit insulting. I will never return to that store again and I think that after I pay off my balance I will be closing my account. All money is green and it all spends, so I can take it somewhere else and hope to be treated with respect. Thank you, Mrs. Currie Cowan (no so loyal customer anymore)

A definite rating of 5! A wonderful store with a great layout. They might be large, but everywhere you turn a map is there to guide you. The sales associates are always helpful, courteous and informed. They have an effecient gift wrapping - customer service department. Not to mention, that they also have clothes for every member of your family including the hard to please teenager all the way to the weight challanged aunt or uncle. Oh, and their sales are to die for. A great place to shop if friendliness and a good deal are important to you!
