Even when reduced by injuries to the stunner, lou thez press and kicks he was still putting on very entertaining matches. One of the greatest on the stick and the feud with Vince is legendary.

The Stone Cold persona is one of the best in-ring personas of all time, but the gimmick somewhat overshadowed his ability. A lot of people claim that he didn't have great wrestling skills, but that just isn't true. Austin was a good technical wrestler, it's just that the punch and kick style worked better with his beer drinking redneck personality. Could have been better than Hogan if his career wasn't cut short by neck problems.

Where is he now? I thought he was entertaining. I am not a huge fan of professional wrestling but I did catch enough to know he was good at what he did. He probably didn't have as good an agent as Hulk Hogan.

I liked Austin more when he was stunning steve in wcw.I also like his rattle snake character too.Like with the Rock didn't stay in the ring long enough for me to rate a 4.I think to compare to the likes of Steamboat,Hogan,Piper,&Flair, Austin falls way short and would not have beaten any of the latter for a belt in their heyday.

He's the best WWE wrestler of all time. He didnt betray us like The Rock did. The man had great charisma and had a great finishing move.

He's best known for his feud with Vince McMahon. He had good mic skills and that "I don't give a F" attitude, but he was more of a brawler than a wrestler. He only had 3 moves which he always used in the ring.

Stone Cold Steve Austin and The Rock led the huge comeback of wrestling during the Attitude Era. One of the greatest, if the the greatest character in wrestling history.

I always enjoyed the Vince McMahon feud, but Austin has been great at all times. Even the losing his mind gag worked. The singing and guitar were horrible but funny.

the biggest draw most popular wrestler ever. Nobody comes close to him in terms of merchandise sold or arenas filled up to see this guy. Hogan is the Wilt Chamberlin of wrestling, Austin is the MJ.

Stone Cold Steve Austin is most likely the most charismatic person in the history of the WWE. No matter what he did, how hard he tried to be heel, fans still loved the toughest SOB there ever was. Come back to RAW, its not the same without you.

A solid wrestler. His redneck character was brilliantly played and any man that stood beside the Rock as an equal during that golden age (as far as popularity) goes deserves some respect. Injuries or not, he's too strong a player to keep out of the game for long. My guess is he'll crash Vince McMahon's funeral, smash the coffin open, give the stunner to the corpse, drink a beer and piss on Vince's gravestone

Austin was probably the personality most responsible for the WWF catching WCW in the ratings war and eventually winning. He was an upper-midcarder in his days in WCW, most notably as Brian Pillman's tag partner in the Hollywood Blonds team, at that time the best team in wrestling. The bookers broke them up to soon, and Austin was given the US title, feuding with the likes of Pillman, Dustin Rhodes, and Johnny B. Badd. He didn't reach main event status in WCW, so he jumped to ECW and did a number of hilarious interviews mocking Bischoff and Hogan. After his stint in ECW, Vince signed Austin to be the Ringmaster, a loser of gimmick that kept Austin from utilizing his best asset, his speaking. Later changed his name to Stone Cold, and the rest is history. He called out Bret Hart during his hiatus, and they worked a tremendous series of matches, especially at Wrestlemania 13. After Bret's departure, Stone Cold and Vince started the infamous boss/employee feud that carried the company for 2 years. Sadly, his career has been cut short due to neck injuries, but he will be remembered for putting wrestling on the map again in the 90s.

one of the all time greatest he was one of the major reasons if not the biggest for the boom years in 1998-2001.great on the mic and a very good preformer such a shame he got career ending injurys. The WWE are suffering great losses to there main eventers some have departed or left, they still need him even thought he to has left but not as a stale watered down version of stone cold from 2003 but a fresh stone cold with new ideas but the old attitued of 1998

SCSA is an average wrestler, just average. But his gimmick is/was classic...one of the best of all time. 3:16 is solid...WHAT is solid...the Austin/McMahon fued epic...St Valentines Day Massacre v. McMahon one of the best matches of all time - deserves to be on the list for his gimmick but not even close as a technician

Anybody that does not see Austin as the most influential wrestler of the past 15 years is not a true wrestling fan. Not only was Austin solid in the ring, his promos revolutionized the industry. The Austin-McMahon feud still ranks as the best ever. He has had a few shaky moments (the walkout) but look at Flair,Hogan,HBK most of the greats have. This guy will go down as one of the top 5 wrestlers of all time & quite possible THE GREATEST PERFORMER in wrestling history.

The biggest wrestling star of the 1990's, a drawing card for live crowds and TV ratings that wrestling hadn't seen since the hey days of Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan. Rogue, anti authority, loner tough guy character fit great with society in the late 90's, just as Hogan's All American Hero and Flair's aristocartic self serving heel did in the Reagan era 80's. Pretty good in ring performer, agile for his size but not many flying moves, known for brawling style but wrestles well against more technical hold oriented performers. Neck injury limited career at it's peak. Has displayed very funny comic side not before seen in more recent years, still best as the "S.O.B" tough guy.

I would of given him a 5, but he needs a little of variety in the ring. He only has around 4 moves: punch, elbow when they're down, kick to the stomach, and then the stunner. If you're lucky, you might see a chop to the mid section when they're in the corner. But besides that, every match is the exact same thing.

Austin Was wonderfull in the WCW (which most forget) in his tag team with Brian pillman the holly wood blonds. He got a poor WWF debut as the ringmaster managed by Dibiase before coming out with the stone cold gimmic. I dont think its a question of fan or heel as he seems to just follow the crowd.

Great performer and mic man. Too bad he had to resort to the middle-finger and beer drinking tactics. He could have gotten over without them. I hope we see him again soon. With the WWE's recent bad fortunes, we probably will.

Isn't it amazing how one moment can define a person's career. Stone Cold Steve Austin was a new star in the WWF. He had recently come over from WCW where he was the long-haired Stunning Steve Austin. And, then the defining momemnt - Austin 3:16 says he's gonna whip your ass - and a legend was born.

In '93 Austin (still Stunning Steve then) was hand picked by Flair as his heir aparent and was about to be pushed to the top where Ric was ready and willing to lose the title to him. But then Hogan was signed bringing his cronies with him leaving Steve to be squashed and and fired via telephone. Thanx sez the WWF, Hulk, yer ego made us twice as much money with Steve as you did. Steve's body has paid a heavy toll for his fame but even a hampered Stone Cold is better than most. A terrific worker, fans should check out old tapes of his work with Brian Pillman as the Hollywood Blondes to see Steve with all his pistons firing.

What a stupid jerk! He encourages his fans to wear "Austin is God" t-shirts and peddles his "Austin 3:16" merchandise, showing that, in a sport looked down on by many (but not me) as low-brow, Stupid Steve is the lowest-brow in the bunch. What a no-class bum! Hopefully, Mr. Dirt-for-Brains Austin will get his act together and stop insulting his Creator, as well as the many religious people who enjoy real wrestling, and not the soap operas the WWF (Weird Wasted Freaks?) tries to pawn off as entertainment.
