 | bublubhuyan (0) 06/29/2006 | First of all, Shawn Michaels is argueably the greatest worker ever in history, but at the same time he's also the most controversial ever. The people who say that he's not a good wrestler are surely Bret Hart fans, because he screwed Bret Hart. To know about Michaels's ability one must hear from his critics. Bret Hart hates him like anything, but even he too admits that Michaels is an extraordinary in-ring performer who is unmatched. This guy is the epitome in every department .... mesmerizing performer, mesmerizing promo cutter, mesmerizing charasmatic, etc. He is the olny person who have been able to carry poor workers like Nash, Sid, Hogan, Vince, Masters, etc to good matches. He came back in 2002, 4 years after his retirement. Since then he have been producind 'Match of the year' every year - 1) HBK vs HHH - 2002; 2) HBK vs J2J - 2003; 3) HBK vs HHH vs Benoit - 2004; 4) HBK vs Kurt Angle - 2005 .... WRESTLER OF THE YEAR - 2003,WRESTLER OF THE YEAR - 2005. Even his hated critics consider him as one of the very best ever. And the only people who don't consider him great are the pissy Bret Hart fans. I too am a Bret Hart fan, but not a pissy one of course.

 | chelvey (0) 11/07/2005 | Shawn is an awesome wrestler. He carried the WWE for a long time. When WCW was taking talent who was there to save Vince...Shawn. He was the one who started the "Ladder Matches" and he was the first to be in the "Hell in the Cell" with the Undertaker. Yeah, Hogan was the one whop started Wrestlemania but HBK took Wrestlemania to the next level. He will go into the hall of fame as the greatest in-ring performer EVER.

Wrestling is not as good as it used to be the titles change hands to fast. But I'll always love wrestling. Anyone who does not like Michaels can eat a stinky bananna in a toilet bowl. Look at everything he's gone through most people would bee sitting at home with there thumbs up there ass. nuff said

 | Meygan (0) 11/30/2004 | Sorry but go some of you idiots need to grow up, cmon 'sucks dick for title runs', were talking about one of the greatest wwe superstars here, just think of his Career Highlights: WWE Champion (3); Intercontinental Champion (3); European Champion; Tag Team Champion (3); 1995 and 1996 Royal Rumble winner. I think that proves my point ^-^. Im a newbie to wrestling but i think i can recognise a great when i see one, hes a kick ass wrestler and his all things are possible attitude makes him a great idol!

 | Outlaw_till_i_die (0) 08/27/2004 | True, his his backstage personailty sucked and he spent most of the latter part of his carrer looking out for himself, but as an in ring performer there was no better. In my opinion HBK is one of the greatest workers ever who could have good to great matches with nearly everyone. He carried Sid(one of the worst workers ever) and Kevin Nash (equally as bad) to ****+ matches. He also allowed Razor Ramon to participate in two of the greatest matches ever(WM 10 and Summerslam 95 ladder matches). And gave Mick Foley and The Undertaker there best matches ever. He also participated in some of the most memorable incidents and was an incredible talker and as charasmatic as they come. I beleive that it was HBK who kept the WWF alive during it's 1996 period. While Vince McMahon as having his ass handed to him in the ratings by Eric Bischoff and WCW, aside from the Undertaker, HBK was the company's only star. Deisel and Razor had left for WCW, Bret Hart was on vacation, the Warrior short stint ended on bad terms, Steve Austin had hust turned Stone Cold, Vader Flopped and Mankind hd yet to become a bona fide star. I truly beleive, had it not been for Michaels' great matches as champion, the WWF would have not survived this period.
When you think of the saviour of WWF and the star of the Attitude era, Stone Cold immediately comes to mind, and while I'm not disputing this, i truly beleive that had itt not been for Michaels, the Attitude ere would have not exploded as it did. Stone Cold had become a headliner since early 1997 and this did not have an impact in the ratings. In fact, it wasn't until after the post Survivor Series 97, Raw the ratings exploded. Due to the incident the previous night involving Michaels, the rating for the post Survivor Series Raw jumped a full point. This was probably out of curiousty as people were intrigued by the Montreal screw job. By this time,D-generation X had become the most heavily featured act on Raw. By the next weeks Raw, the WWF managed to maintain that full point they gained. Simpy put, the fan that tuned in out of curiousity, wereaptivated by the WWF product and decided to continue watchins. I beleive that this was he turning point in the ratings battle between WWF and WCW. Baisically, what i'm trying to get at, is that Michaels played a great but underated role in the WWF surval and eventual prosperity. He changed the business and performed some of the greatest matches ever. I think it's safe to say, there ill never be another Shawn Michaels.

 | luckyjack (0) 06/12/2003 | Michaels became one of the greats after a pudgy start as one half of the Rockers. As a solo star he lost his baby fat, became even more dazzlingly daring in the ring and played both the heel and the good guy with equal style. His ladder match with Razor Ramon at Wrestlemania X was a classic.

 | Redoedo (39) 05/26/2003 | I sometimes wonder what may have happened had Shawn Michaels not left the WWE due to back injuries after losing the WWE title to Stone Cold Steve Austin in March of 1998. I still remember watching Austin talking the night after Wrestlemania 14, and expecting that ever famous "Sexy Boy" theme to start out and Shawn Michaels to come strolling on out there with his DX cronies and demanding a rematch. Unfortuantely it did not turn out that way. However, I think that it would've been an extra kick in the new period of "Attitude" had Michaels stayed in the picture. His renegade group which he himself co-founded, Degeneration-X, was in fact a major part of the "Attitude" era, and it seems that the group just was not the same when he left. Let us remember that it was Michaels who carried the WWE through the hard times in 1996 and 1997 when Turner's WCW was clobbering World Wrestling Entertainment in the ratings. Michaels proved many times even in his last match that he was willing to put his body on the line in order to give the fans a good show. I'll never forget his ladder match at Wrestlemania X, or his performance in the first "Hell in a Cell Match" in 1997 against the Undertaker. Even his last match at Wrestlemania in 1998 was a great match. I, like so many others, wanted Shawn to come back so badly for one final match. Between 1998 and 2002, he returned in several non-wrestling roles, but he never laced up his boots. Finally, in the summer of 2002, after reinventing himself personally, now a family man who had found faith in Christ, Shawn returned to the spotlight. It all went down in both his matches against Triple H and his victory in The Elimination Chamber in November 2002, when Shawn proved that he could still put on a good show. He will go down in history as one of the best ever. God bless you Shawn!

 | denom (0) 04/20/2003 | HBK was pretty much unrecognized when he was in wrestling. It wasn't until after he left that people began to realize just how awesome he was. He had the speed of a light heavy weight, and the power of a larger wrestler. He obviously isn't as pumped as he use to be, or as mobile (I believe he had his C4 vertebrea fused). By far the most entertaining wrestler of the 90's, bar NONE!!!!

 | PowdA (0) 04/12/2003 | LISTEN, no one, in the history of pro wrestling in general since it first got started, CAN WRESTLE BETTER THAN H.B.K, NO ONE!!!!! AND THEY'LL PROLLY NEVER HAVE A BETTER IN RING WRESTLER THAN HBK HE IS THE BEST, AND HE PLAYED, IN MY OPINION FAVORIT GIMMICK AND CHARACTER IN WRESTLING, AND ITS A FACT, McMahon said it himself, there would be no WWE with out HBK, when WCW was whoopin WWF's ass in 96' HBK was the champ and it was all they really had to get ppl to watch if he wasent there, there would be no WWE, then he passed the torch to Ausin, and right now since his come back, he wrestle prety much the same he did before he got hurt, and right now today hes still one of the best wresters, no one can put on a better match than Shawn Michels, and its very small chance any one ever will, RVD and Y2J come the closest when it comes to putting on a match as good as shawn can. THATS FACT

 | HBKgaveMeAreason (0) 02/18/2003 | Whether you love him or hate him, he gets a response out of you. I personally love the guy. Its always a pleasure to see a legend who's built and earned his reputation, amidst a slew of 2 Move Wonder newbies who've just been GIVEN their reputation and really have no way to back it up. I've watched the guy since the Rocker days and he's never once disappointed, except in '96 when he was a sap and kissed the bandwagoner fans' butts. That was pretty annoying, but at least he looked darn good while he was doing it :)

 | Sal !!! (0) 07/20/2002 | HBK will go down as one of the truly great wrestlers. He was able to have a great match with anyone and he was always a crowd pleaser but his (real-life) backstage antics and attitude really knock down his score. Also, why is he returning? There is no need for his character to be back. They have no use for him and he was just a ratings-spike attempt that failed. HBK has lost his personality and is now boring and repetitive on the mic. There is no denying his in-ring talent but his backstage attitude and the fact that he should've stayed retired hurts his score.

 | charliethetuna (1) 07/20/2002 | Nobody remembers him when he first got started. He and Marty Jannetty were a great tag team. And, what ever became of Marty Jannetty. But, back then, he used his moves (the guy is pretty athletic) and was popular for them. As the leader of D-X, he was arrogant, but that's what he was supposed to be. Now, he's coming back. He forgot when he was supposed to stay retired for good.
