sykick 05/25/2005
we are currently in an era of wrestling where talent his very thin....talent meaning undertaker, kane, angle, benoit, HHH, HBK, Big Show, Eddie, and Rey Rey. People who can handle the mic and handle themselves on the wrestling mat(either as a wrestler or a brawler). stone cold is the greatest trash talker and roughneck brawler in all of wwe history. but he's gone now.
twansalem 03/23/2005

DeathRattle 01/12/2004
This man revolutioned the business (both wrestling and character aspects) of wrestling as it is today. Fans of wrestling, both old and new, will name more memorable and entertaining moments that this man has been a part of than any other wrestler to ever exist. He was one of the innovators of the personality character (wrestlers modeling characters more from their personal aaspects than making a full-blown fictional character). Plus, he knows how to sell the moves (probably the most important aspect of professional wrestling). Steve Austin may go down as the most popular wrestler to ever exist.
roblinb 11/07/2003
I have to agree that Steve has very little wrestling ability outside of the STUNNER but he doesn't need it. The concept of this guy is a foul-mouthed tough redneck, not some frilly bitch like Lance Storm or Chuck Palumbo. Wrestling is about characters, and some characters don't need the skills of a Kurt Angle or a Bret Hart when they have the personality of Steve Austin. What's funny is that Austin is not to far from his character in real life. He will be remembered as an all-time great in sports entertainment, but not for his in-ring ability so much as for his persona.

Stone Cold Steve Austin redefined the wrestling business. PERIOD! No man before him or after him will ever have quite the same effect on the business as this man has. Hulk Hogan may have set the precedent, but Steve Austin redefined it. He was very instrumental in World Wrestling Entertainment's rise to fame in 1998, during the infamous period of "Attitude". Austin, to the fans, was "attitude". And it's hard to believe that the WWE would have been so successful without having Austin at the helm. He was the biggest name in the business and by carrying the shows allowed the WWE to build up other stars and send them climbing to main-event status (The Rock, Triple H). While the WWE product has taken a downward spiral so much as of late that I have stopped watching, Austin has not changed. He still gives it his all, and he still loves this business. His departure last year from WWE was truly the icing on the cake, and the WWE was never fully able to recover. Despite his vow to "never bring Austin back", McMahon knew damned well that his only chance at trying to save his precious company was to bring Austin back. It's a shame that even Austin can't dig the WWE out of this massive black hole that it has been creating since 2001.

He's too old and broken down. He should retire.

Totally overrated. His return to wrestling doesn't do a thing for me, infact I enjoyed it MORE while he was gone. He is one huge YAWN.
allknowing 02/14/2003

We need Stonecold!!!!
TheFreak 07/20/2002
What a faker. I was actually starting to like him, too, now that he quit trying to sing and we were actually seeing the better side of him. But then, just about when I'm thinking of boosting him up a star or two, he disappears from the WWE. Well, thanks a lot, Austin.
Kersus 05/05/2002
He was great when he was the amusing Vince McMahon sidekick vying for his attentions over Kurt Angle. Besides that, his 3:16 thing is old, and his boring beer swilling butt is one of the worst actual wrestlers out there. What is with those leg warmers?
DDodgeSilver 10/09/2001
This was a tough one to rate. I wavered from 1 to 5 on this a few times before I finally settled at a three. I have to rate him where he stands today, and the fact is, he can barely stand today. Injuries and prolonged absences have taken their toll on Austin. The best that can be said for him is that his matches are still of the same quality today that they were in years past. But that isn't necessarily a compliment. His mike skills, which are heavily praised by some, are frequently filled with mistakes and blown lines. I will say this for the man, other wrestlers who find themselves put in Austin's position may become discouraged and let their performance and appearance suffer, but Austin did not. However, he is not WWF Championship material, and his win at the 10/08/01 Raw is clearly to be a heel placeholder champion until a new King of Faces is crowned. Who that will be is anyone's guess, but this is about Austin...and Three is the Magic Number.
reeny 08/27/2001
When it comes to imagination in Stone cold's dialogue, I think it's safe to say that it is definitely lacking. They have made him leader of this ECW/WCW aliance and his character's charisma has gone from bad to worse. His speeches and conversations with his aliance cohorts are idiotic to say the least, and this whole thing with him saying "what" after every few phrases doesn't help. I think I liked stone cold better when he was with Vince.
softballchick 07/16/2001
Ignore all that above. I hate him. He actually had the nerve to align himself with HHH and Vince McMahon? Ugh! He completly turned his back on all of his fans, and I will never be able to trust him again. And what he did to JR? He had no right to do that. JR was speaking for the fans. So what now? Unbelievable. I'm sorry for all people who have met him and had a conversation with him, as I have. But he would NEVER want to mess with me when I have a bat in my hand. And for all the people who want inside details, post something saying so and I will give you my e-mail adress, ok? All you have to do to let me know is type 7717, ok? Bye!
rwjacksr 07/11/2001
Steve Austin was once one of the best in the business. But like somany before him the bumps and bruses have left their toll on him. He can't even give a good interview anymore. so I think its time for bad Knees Austin to find a good job managing good wrestlers that can still put on a good show.
Plumpbottom40 06/24/2001
I stopped watching wrestling for a long time, Stone Cold aroused my interests in it again a few years ago! He represents John Q. Public: sticking it to the man for all the working stiffs out there who wish they could! Now, to agree with some of the reviewers, certainly compared to some wrestlers, he comes across as sloppy (a George Forman of pro-wrestling, if you will!)but his brawn and determination always bring him out on top! You and I both know wrestling is as phony as a three-dollar bill, but the reason Austin always wins is simply this: the fans can't stand to see the one personality who represents them lose. If he loses, the fans lose! Get it??? To address Blue Mary's statement, it's simply a fact that no matter how much The Rock and HHH act up, Austin always outshines them effortlessly personality-wise! He IS what the fans want!
taddymaddy 06/23/2001
I absolutely hate him. He has no athletic skills what so ever. Yes he has personality but that is it. I just don't agree with him being the number 1 wrestler out there. There are many more people who are better then him.

dragon666 03/14/2001
stone "old" steve austin is a used up has been that has faded outta the picture. i used to think he was pretty cool til' he had surgery. when he left it was obvious someone had to step up to the plate. HHH did just that! in one short year HHH stomped his way to the top of the wrestling empire and buried steve austin. HHH is the new bad ass of the wrestling mountain and stone cold is old news.
cryskome198 03/11/2001
Sone Cold has the greatest personalty in the ring.
Blue Mary 02/07/2001
Ok now here me out, I think Stone Cold is a great entertainer and he has the ability to make the fans cheer as well he is good on the mike. While this is good, I find two problems with Stone Cold. The first is does this guy have to win every single match and dominate everytime he is in the ring? I mean it's getting old. Sure Austin loses matches but thats when interfearence occurs. I would like to see him lose in a match one on one. No matter how good you are, you have to lose sometime. For example The Rock lost to The Undertaker in a clean match. Triple H lost to Kane ...everybody can lose except Stone Cold which is how I see it. The way he beat Chris Benot and Kurt Angle is B.S. At least these men gave The Rock a hard time but with Austin, it seems he beats EVERBODY including The Rock. Now for the second thing...now I am glad Austin was able to return to the WWF but now that he is back, he is constantly the main event in every WWF TV and house show. It's funny because I remember when Austin was out of action The Rock along with Triple H and Kurt Angle, Rikishi were the main events it was good to see the other entertainers get the spotlight especially The Rock and Triple H. Now that Austin is back, once again he dominates over all which is not fair. Has anybody noticed lately that The Rock seems less important next to Stone Cold? now instead of the main event he is basically the second or third match before the main event. As well for those of you who saw the ROYAL RUMBLE it was obvious that Stone Cold was going to win. I personally thought Kane should have one. Now I know in my comment on Triple H I said he was going to kick Austins ass at NO WAY OUT but now that I think of it, Austin is going to win reguarless because hey he always wins. As far as Wrestlemania goes, well we ALL know Stone Cold is going to win that also. Bottom Line is this I think Austin is good and talented but does he have to dominate over everyone? he is good but when he faces off against the other superstars, he always comes out on top with little problem...well thats just my opinion and how I feel about it.
Hayley 02/02/2001
Stone Cold is a great wrestler. He's got great talent, he always gives his all in a match and he doesn't take crap from anyone. He's got great speaking skills and he can make you laugh with some of the stuff he does. There's no other wrestler quite like Stone Cold.
lasaber022 01/16/2001
stone cold steve austin kicks a** and he doesent take sh*t from anyone. he is my favorite wrestler and he has the biggest target on him at the royal rumble

I've been watching Austin's career since his debut in 1990. He's a thorough wrestling talent, even though you don't see much of it these days. But then again, this is sports entertainment. His interviews are never boring, and his signature move has been copied by every wrestling federation. stone Cold is truly a wrestling icon.
