Tiger is a fierce competitor. You can't deny his ability to come back from behind and crush others under pressure. He gets in more trouble it seems these days, but watch the incredible come back shots he has in his aresenal. A great player is not just down the middle, it's making the seemingly impossible look easy. And that's what Tiger does most days whether it's shot making or staying mentally tough with throngs of people all around him. The rating is about his golf isn't it? Off the course, Tiger and his foundation have touched  MILLIONS of young people. With greatness comes great responsibility. The future of our country lies with our children and Tiger is doing his part as a leader with charity support, scholarships, and his own learning center. Some see a glass half full, some see one half empty. His golf record is undeniable. Tiger is great for the sport and for our country.

this thread was started 9 years ago, so many of the posters would offer different comments now. it's pretty obvious that tiger is the greatest golfer ever. his wins and majors are only part of the story. like muhammad ali, he's risen to the challenge when everyone has written him off...especially those who wondered what he was smoking when he kept saying 'i'm close, really close', when everyone wanted to know what was wrong with his swing in the early hank haney years. to those who say he doesn't have the competition of the other greats i agree with the last poster on this thread --- the talent now exceeds the talent of those times by a mile. that there are so few other multiple major winners just means that the talent pool is so much deeper now than it was in the day (especially internationally), and it's anybody's tournament. back in the day, golf was a lame spectator sport, appealing mostly to the u.s. and european country club types and just a step above bowling in popularity. arn... I wish Tiger would have used his 2002 swing for a little longer before trying to change (this never worked). If he would have kept using this old swing under Butch Harmon he would have been even more unbeatable than he is now.

I THINK TIGER SHOULD DO THE DIVORCE A.S.A.P. LIKE A BANDAID QUICK & PAINLESS ONE MIGHT SAY. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT HER TRUE INTENTIONS OF THE MARRIAGE WERE OR NONETHELESS THE INITIAL INTENTION WHICH WE'LL NEVER FIND OUT. HOWEVER IF HE FEELS AS THOUGH HE IS VERY CONTENT & AND IS SATISFIED IN ALL AREAS THEN I WISH HIM ALL THE LUCK, CONTRARY TO THAT HE MAY NEED SOME FUFILLMENT WHICH HIS WIFE MAY NOT BRING TO THE TABLE, JUST BY JUDGING HIS FACIAL REACTIONS ON THE GREEN IT APPEARS AS THOUGH HE SEEMS A LITTLE UNHAPPY AND LACKS A CERTAIN CLOSENESS WITH HIS SPOUSE WHICH EVER MAN WANTS. IF YOU TAKE A LOOK @ HIS WEBSITE YOU CAN VIEW HIS FACIAL REACTIONS ON THE FAIRWAY, FIRST & FOREMOST HE IS NOT GETTING THE SUPPORT HE NEEDS, A CAREER IN SPORTS IS VERY IMPORTANT AND HIS WIFE SHOULD ACT AS SUCH REGARDLESS OF THE PREGNANCY TERM. HE HAS ENOUGH MONEY TO KEEP HER COMFORTABLE IN EVERY ASPECT SO I REALLY DON'T SEE WHY SHE IS NOT ALONG SIDE HIM ALL THE TIME. SECONDLY SHE MAY NOT REALIZE THAT HE IS INDEED A ... Read more

I am really wondering what everyone is smoking because saying that tiger doesn't have to competition that Jack did is pure ignorance.  People are confused because they see that Jack had all of the other great golfers like Player, Palmer, Trevino, and Watson and assume that since there aren't a bunch of golfers with a ton of majors next to tiger that that somehow implies that there is a lack of competition.  In reality this says the complete opposite since their was less competition it probably meant that one of those four golfers were gonna win each tournament since they were playing at a different level then the rest of the field. Nowadays there are so many players playing at an extremely high level of golf that it is extremely hard to win a tournament.  Tiger Woods is just a freak of nature and he is simply just that much better then anyone who has ever played the game Vijay, Els, Mickelson, Goosen, all of these names are as good as Jacks competition and in all honesty probably bette... Tiger Woods like most of you say is the best for his age hands down but the players on tour even the long time veterans fear Tiger. We a talking about a force never before seen in golf. Tiger is great Hall of Fame in rookie year type player no question..that being said, Tiger's Competition is no where even close until 3 or 4 years ago none of his best competition had even won majors..Phil Mickelson:0 now 3, David Duval:1.., Sergio:0.... Jack Nicklaus on the other hand had players like Gary Player:9, Arnold Palmer:7, Seve Ballesteros:5, Lee Trevino:6,the list is pretty long so lets wait on this statement deeming tiger the greatest ever...

Goldenbear, you hit it pretty square. Where is Tiger's Arnold Palmer, Gary Player, Billy Casper, Johnny Miller, Tom Watson or (even) Julius Boros? The only contemporary Jack never beat head-to-head on Sunday was Lee Trevino. Lee got on tour when he was twenty-seven. By that time, Jack was only playing in Majors and tournaments he really liked.

Tiger Woods has played against the weakest competion in the modern history of golf. Most of his wins have been the result of the serial chokers who take up space on the PGA tour handing him the tourmament. (how many Masters did Jack Nicklaus win with bogeys on the last two holes?) As Johnny Miller once put it "Tiger has gotten more gifts on Sunday than any golfer history". How can you put Tiger in the same league with Hogan and Jones when his only serious challenge in a major championship came from the winless Bob May?

Golf, it sucks. However, Tiger Woods is awesome dudes, for a golfer anyway. And to the dude with the oreo comment, personally I hate oreos however I don't think Tiger Woods isn't a oreo, but I do agree that Gumbel is an oreo as well dudes! His wife is super hawt!! I'd bang her. 3 stars because golf is for rich, stuck up dudes. Who says asians aren't good at sports, eh?

So Tiger Woods can't date white women with blond hair? That makes him an oreo? Some people don't want to see a black person who isn't a druggie or a criminal, so when someone like Tiger Woods comes along, he's labeled as an "oreo." Tiger Woods seems like a nice guy to me, unlike that idiot Byrant Gumbel, now that's an oreo. Gumbel thinks he's better than blacks and whites. What about Robert Deniro, he dates mostly black women so what do you call him? It's called a preference Samjung. You also said he's dumb, he went to freaking Stanford! I can't imagine the pressure this guy faces every time he's on a golf course. I don't even like golf and even I know that this guy is clutch. Would most people even care about golf if Tiger Woods wasn't around? After reading some of the comments I realized that some people decided not to like Tiger Woods just by looking at him, and that is a shame.

Tiger Woods is the man. What someone said earlier about black people getting in everyone spoirts is true. I hav eno problem with it though, im white too. I feel that if they are better than the current competition then they deserve to be the best, regardless of color. And by the way, this is a brother in christ(DE COLORES!!) and the comment by VtownQB#4 claiming to be anson swindle was an idiot named Nick Smith. He says hes a QB but he warms the bench all season, also hes never set foot on the field as a QB.

Youd think theyd leave us at least one sport. They are good at everything, except paying their taxes. By the way my name is anson swindle.

Tiger is the best at his age and the amount of years he's been a professional. He's done more in less than ten years than most have done in a lifetime, and compared to Nicklaus' first 9-10 yrs. Woods is ahead. Overall, he may be second to Nickalus, but let's give Mr. Woods time.

Brilliant golfer and competitor whose performances this year were a firm two fingered wave at the idiot sport pundits who ruthlessly trashed him for changing his swing (idiots, not for expressing their opinions but for shamefully refusing to publicly admit they got it wrong). Quite apart from his sporting brilliance, Tiger comes across as a decent(if justifiably guarded) bloke who does more than his bit for charity proving unequivocally the irrationality of those who dislike him. Human jealously-ain't it a terrible thing?

I guess I have reached the age that certain things don't surprise me anymore. No matter who the person is, or what field they are in, success breeds both adoration and hate. Also no longer surprising, the way insults are hurled and some turn against someone when they prove to be human. Nobody can deny that Tiger Woods has been THE face of golf over the last decade, probably drawing more fans to the sport than anyone in history. This wasn't because of his multi-ethnic bloodline or even in spite of being a jerk off the golf course, it's because he was simply far and away the best in the game. Even as he has now proved human, fans and other golfers keep one eye on Tiger the entire time. I'll add that he is no bigger jerk off the course than some of the people on this board calling him one.

Ames is also #2 in average earnings over past 6 weeks with 144, 000 on average. He obviously should be top 10 but you OMITTED his name. He is a supberb golfer and he is Canada' s top golfer!

Great golfer, bad personality. He is as mature as an 8-year old and probably in denial about his ethnic heritage. In short, an oreo. He trades off maturity for a wicked golf game and money. Apparently, he only dates sexy blonde models, which is sure to earn him a divorce very soon! I wouldn't be surprised if it's hard to hold conversations with him...he doesn't seem to be very bright. Just a spoiled kid molded all his life into a golfing machine...well, I'm just waiting for the inevitable sports athlete crisis to DESTROY this guy. It's a shame one of golf's greatest has to be such an aloof character.

First of all I just want to say that I in no way am interested in golf. I think it's boring to watch, and the one time I actually played a full game with some friends I really couldn't wait 'till we were through. But I guess I can see why some old men think it's a relaxing way to pass the time. But anyway with that said, I will say this; Tiger Woods is a phenomenon. You can't argue with this man's success, especially at such a young age. Golf is lucky to have someone like this to come along and help bring more interest to the game. It'll be interesting to see how many years this man dominates the game (even though I'll never sit through one on TV or in person, ha)

First of all,I like the guy and think he's a phenom and like it when he wins tournaments.I do think he's folding though and there can be alot of reasons why he is.I doubt I would be disciplined and focused if I had 100 million in the bank and the world at my disposal to do what I want, when I want and with who I want.I think a guy like Jack Nicklaus was hungrier than Tiger because the purses were lower etc.back then and you had to focus on playing well in the future. Then you have the fact that he's not married and isn't settled down and real life relationships take alot of his time away from golf. Then you have his dad who seems a tad bit like the Williams sisters dad in being overbearing and that can really louse up having fun playing and being your own man. There are so many good golfers out there and on any given day a Mike Wier or Kenny Perry can be so good and golf is so competitive and I can't see anyone dominating the tournaments week in and week out.I haven't seen much of Tiger ge... Put this guy back in the 1970s, where there were many men who won majors, and he is slightly above average. The only thing I see in his game that differentiates him from anyone else is the "UNBELIEVABLLY LUCKY" breaks that the guy gets. If you pay attention to what commentators say often they can be heard saying things like: "Woods drives deep into trouble but wait a minute his ball hit the cart path and what was a terrible lie turns out to be an excellent break." If you take note, you will see how often this happens for Woods. Therefore, an extremely overrated player.

back in my day we used to call 100 white men chasing a black man the KKK, now we call it the PGA Tour. This guy is more accurate with the golf ball then Ash is with the Pester Balls in Pokemon Snap. Let me tell you, I played a round with him, he good. However being from Germany, I gotta go with the Sharky Australian Greg Norman as my all time favorite. Thats why I give Tiger 1 Star. SUBMIT

Tiger has really had an impact upon the sport and has "pulled" people to the TV to watch golf even if not a golf fan. I for one have never been a golf fan but whenever there is a tournament and Tiger is participating I defintely watch. He is a crowd favorite and is truly amazing and gifted.
