I was trying to find a spot on a doctor's billing. and this is the closest I could find.This has nothing to do with Los Angeles.this is in Michigan. But it does have to do with a doctor's bill. What can a patient do when some idiot in billing cannot figure out what to charge?I am going through this right now. I went to a doctor in November for an exam. Since we had limited insurance we knew we would have to pay most of the bill. We waited until January to get our first bill.Our insurance had sent us a statement saying the doctor office agreed to give a discount with the insurance. So we knew some of the bill would be reduced. Now we get our first bill by the "genius" person in charge of billing. It says in a computer statement what the insurance had taken off and in handwriting what I owed. I had an extensive exam and the bill was for $246.60.{I had already paid $35.00} It was agreed ahead of time I could make payments, since we are very short on money. I sent a check for $23.00. the first installment for the bill. Well a few days later I get another bill this one is for $258.60. they wrote down the 23 dollars I sent them and now they tacked on and extra $35.00.in hand writing. someone obviously does not know what they are doing. I am not paying the extra 35 dollars, and intend to let them knw this on Monday when they open back up. I hate it when I get billed and someone is screwing up. I have a copy of the original bill saying I owe $246.60.and they said in november that as long as I paid once a month it would be fine. Now I am waiting for the fireworks when I challenge them on the bill and inform them I refuse to pay the extra $35.00. I have no doubt they will threaten collections. Sorry but i am venting. so I am giving Doctor's bills a one for the incompetant billing clerks who do not know how to do their job.so if you are ever In Michigan and see a Dr.Lee watch out for the billing clerk who tacks on extra money } Anyone out in Rateitall have a problem with a doctor bill that goes up instead of down and they make it obvious they expect payment when THEY change the bill.so if I were rating a billing office they would be getting a one.[This extra 35dollars is NOT a fee they tacked on for paying in installments} they reconstructed the bill and made the bill look like this is what I owed.]
