At his peak, the most exciting player I ever saw. With a quarter step on a defender he was all but unstoppable, and his balance was such that he could release that vicious wrist shot from almost any position.

This guy has to be one of the 2-4 best players I've ever seen. He used to totally destroy the Bruins, who had good though not great clubs back then. It got to be uncanny, as close as you can get to actually predicting a goal. Of course that's impossible, but it seemed that way.

This guy has had 6 great (consecutive) seasons. But his lack of discipline in his personnal life (partying 365 days a year from the mid-seventies to the early to mid-eighties) simply killed what would have otherwise been a real great career.

Lafleur was a joy to watch. He had moves i'm still trying to figure out. What a great player with heart to match. Those who missed him should go back and find games with him in them. And be awed.

What can you say about a player who was in large part the reason that the Montreal Canadiens of the 1970s won six Stanley Cups four of those on a row. The man was simply AWESOME

Along with Mike Bossy, the greatest right wing to ever play in the nhl. Amazing hockey player. Scary to think of how much better he could have been had Montreal been able to draft Gilbert Perreault the year before they drafted him. Gee, I wonder how many of you are going to find this message "UNHELPFUL"?

I wasn't lucky enough to see Guy in person, but I have seen so many tapes of him. There is only one word to describe "le demon Blond" - AWESOME!!

I'd rate Lafleur as second only to Orr. Far more exciting than Gretzky, and not as wimpy as Mario.

In the era of the Broad Street Bullies, Guy Lafleur proved that finesse, skill and class would win games and fans' hearts. Hockey "greats" come and gone, mostly earning that title by media hype and exceptional teammates, more hockey regulations to cut down on the "violence" and easier positions ..ie..center. Guy Lafleur played right wing to perfection, but he also played left wing, center and power play positions with nearly equal accomplishment. Yes, Lafleur, to many knowledgeable fans, was and Is still Hockey's brightest star.
