Blo Monkey Chunks Salon: A STUDY IN ARROGANCE.

If you can get pass the loud music, cramp space, not having any one consistently answering their phone that knows when they are open and when they are not, then you may just get a good hair cut. But that’s only if you can tolerate staff arrogance, entitlement and not really caring about doing good work and appreciating your business.

I visited Blo several times last year and last time I walked out with out getting a hair cut. The person scheduled to cut my hair made me wait 20 minutes because he was too busy chit chatting with his last costumer. Not once I was approached by him nor the “receptionist” to let me know that they were running behind. That’s how much they appreciate your time. He did called an apologized by saying that his costumer would not let him go but then that’s another issue.

I decided to give Blo a 2nd chance after a year. I called and made an appt for 2 O’clock this past Tuesday. I didn’t received a reminder call so I called and left a message confirming that in fact this appt was on . No one called me back. When I arrived on Tuesday I was told that the person scheduled to cut my hair was on vacation and my appt was on Thursday at 2:00 PM not Tuesday. When I asked why no one had called me back I was told that she wasn’t the receptionist yet she offered me an appt for 3 o’clock the same day with someone else which I didn’t cared to take. I walked around the neighborhood and spoke with different salons with in 3 to 4 blocks from Blo. Hair cut prices ranged from $15 at the cosmetology school to $100 at oxenrose. I must say that the people at the cosmetology school were super friendly and welcoming. I would had gotten my hair cut there but I needed to be seen right away. So I got my haircut at Oxenrose (please read their reviews).

Yesterday I received a phone call from Blo confirming my appt for today at 1:00 PM (I guess I not even had gotten the 2 O’clock time right). I left a message advising them how dissatisfied I was and that I had already gotten my hair cut some place else. To what a received another message saying that they are closed Tuesdays so there could had never been an appt made for that day. The dude cutting hair there on Tuesday must had been a ghost.

Blo Blows! I’m not wasting my time or cash on them. If you are a non-white gay person or just an outright person of color you are better off taking your business someplace else. That’s right we have choices.
