Another year, another annoying player gone (only this time it's Culpepper and not Moss) and Mike Tice is gone. Brad Childress will probably really help to change this franchise. Not only did he get rid of Culpepper, he signed Tony Richardson, arguably the best fullback in the game and a really great locker room guy. It just makes it clear to me that he's turning this team into one built around the team, and not a few players. Signing Steve Hutchinson was pretty big too. They are a little thin at reciever at the moment, but I think their depth at runningback is fantastic, so their offense should do just peachy and they have been improving on defense. Could be a team to watch for.

Nasty habit of coming up short UPDATE: 10 picks?

Let's look at some facts. Randy Moss is considered one of the greatest recievers of all time. What's that? He doesn't play for the Vikes anymore? HA! Everything you've heard is true. Did you ever wonder what it would be like if they lost Randy Moss? Here it is Ladies and Gentleman, one of the worst teams in the NFL. What were you thinking Randy? I don't hear your name anymore. I know that's what you want Randy, media attention. I could care less if you like your team or not, but frankly, I think leaving was a bad idea. You lost a lot of fans bud. Way to go, have a great night, see you on your retirement day.
GenghisTheHun 09/26/2005
I don't think the Vi-Queens (they are too poor to be Kings) are ever going to hit the mark and win the big one.
Kaneohekilla 04/10/2005
Horrible team chemstry even if they dumped Randy they still have the ticking bomb in Culpepper and who really believes in Mike Tice as a serious coach. NFL players should be aid less and playu harder, have you every heard of a viking taking a pay-cut. Or even a viking who is known for hard work.
dj1vike 03/11/2005
What would you expect from me...look at my name. The 70's were GREAT, but the future is bright. Yaeh, we need an owner and a coach and a stadium...the stadium for the fans, perhaps the Twinky-Wagon for the other two!
menotellname 02/15/2005
Perennial losers.
OneHungryMonst er 08/25/2004
Terrific team! They can win 10-12 games this season.
Jimbo04 07/30/2004
I am from Minnesota (thank god for the 1987, 1991 Twins. The Vikings every year do this (find a new way to lose). Losing on the final pass last year. In 1998 have the best regular season than any team in history and can't even get to the Super Bowl. I want to see a Super Bowl win for the Vikings, but the odds are better right now of finding a spaceship in my back yard.

Greatest underachievers of all times

What makes the Vikings fan exceptional is that the Vikings fan continues to support this team despite their history of very poor luck and post season play. The Packers fans adorn themselves with the glory days and rediculous, sanctimonious crap. The Vikings do have a great deal of talent, if only the coaching staff could properly harness it. Conversely, the fudge packers consist of extraordinarily fat, overweight (even by NFL standrads), slow slobs. Favre, albeit dwindling in his skill set, is what makes them tick. If the Vikes can replace Culpepper with someone who can consistently throw to someone with the same color jersey, they will dominate, even with poor coachiing calls.
maersk 05/19/2004
i can see these guys dominating the nfc north this year, enjoy it while you can big purple, cause starting next year the lions own this division.
Favreisthemast er4 04/05/2004
Bunch of choking bitches who I hate more than anything on the planet Earth. Go Pack! Favre is God!
724iniraq 12/31/2003
Unfortunately there is no rating below 1 star. What a bunch of whining preschoolers! There is a reason so many teams passed on Moss, he is a morally bankrupt delinquent(however talented he may be)that no one needs in the locker room or on the playing field. I play when I want to? What kind of Barbara Streisand is that? No one on that team has the class or work ethic of a Rice, Favre, Elway... I could think of a hundred examples. Anyway I'm not going to waste any more words on the lamest team in professional football. Oh, maybe one more word. CHOKE!
roblinb 11/08/2003
If any team in the league could suffer from a second-half choke... it ain't the Vikings. They are in a pretty bad division, and their number-one foe (the Packers) shouldn't challenge them for the division crown. BUT, the Vikings will lose in the first round. Mike Tice has done a good job of getting Randy Moss focused and playing hard, for a change, and Culpepper is playing as well as he can. The running attack is improved, too. I think 11-5 is the future for the 'Vikes' this year, and they will make a little noise before going out fighting.
Joe23665 05/22/2003
Oh for the good old days, of Purple People Eaters galore, Fran the Man running around (not hocking his Mama on every QVC show), the other Gene Washington. I've waited 43 years, guess I can wait a few more.

NFC Central teams are boring
TheMyth 04/13/2003
Dante Culpepper, the underachiever's Donovan McNabb. Oh, but maybe if his line would give him a little bit of time. Michael Bennett.... When I first got him on my fantasy team 2 years, I almost traded him, and thank the Lord I didn't. The Vikings should exploit his talents more effectively. And build up the secondary, please.
guraqt2me2 04/13/2003
The Vikes are an arriving team. Defense and linemen are the NFL hallmark. The Vikings will begin to really turn it on commencing, this season. Look for the shining of Moss - a very strong defense and a BIG year. The band wagon will need a new suspension. Pick them to do very well into the play offs. Don't sell your season tickets just yet !!!
Raider-hater 02/25/2003
this team has good players, but they need a new coach. personally, i hope they continue to do bad, since i'm a Pack fan.
2003 02/23/2003
New caoch! New coach! they have one of the best offenses, but the coach doesn't know how to utilize it, unfortunately.
rogue 02/19/2003
I'm a born and raised Viking's fan, but they're at least two years from an NFC Championship. Oh, and Randy Moss is an overrated punk.
widgeon 02/10/2003
A poor front office that knows little about class and less about football. Couple that with a QB that turns the ball over nonstop and then puts on his whine face and turns the ball over again. Major Changes needed or its more of the same
Xxray138xX 12/23/2002
Anything is Mossable..Yeh Right. Go hit some more cops.
StevenA111 12/17/2002
Ah I figured out why those two nitwits gave the Packers 1 Star... because they're the proud fans of an extremely below average football team with below average coaching and above average talent who manage to screw it all up.
mr.monkey 12/16/2002
they may stink this year, but I still love em
klunt 12/14/2002
for america
Jason1972 10/31/2002
This is a team that loves to give opportunities to other teams, especially on the crucial playoff games (remember that 1998 season). Anyway, Randy Moss is a thug and the team doesn't deliver anymore.
Cage_rules 10/26/2002
LOL! This team is a joke. They have no effort and lack the positive attitude. There defense is horrible. And there offense, LOL. Oh look at me im randy moss im the greatest ever even though i dropped 2 touchdown passes in a row at SEATTLE while I was wide open. Oh look at me I jog on my plays and dont block. Oh look at me i hit old ladies and i do drugs im sooo cool. randy moss is a complete pathetic loser who sucks very bad. if it were up to me I would Cut his ass lol lol. poor poor vikings
lukskywlkr. 10/17/2002
They've won one game this year. That does not a good team make.
norelle 04/04/2002
yea buddy randy moss and donte culppepper, aint no shame in dat.
jmiz 01/23/2002
lifelong Vike fan and therefore must first cop to the fact that yes, they are the losers of four Superbowl appearances and yes, unfortunately, those losses were suffered under the direction of a coach who sits amid the coaching pantheon - Bud Grant. With their colrs, their history and hell, even their mascot (Ragnar, not that Vikedontrix thing), they stand apart as a team of class, commitment and determination. Not the same since we moved indoors, but a lot of us older-than-younguns remember the days when the Vikes went sleeveless and the lambs came into town from LA and conceded before kickoff. Bottom line -- the Hail Mary never should've happened (Krause DID NOT push the guy out of bounds the play before so midfield position would NOT have been established; ALSO that was offensive interference on the actual play) AND the Atlanta win in '98 was total bulls*it due, in part, to Denny takin' a knee with more than a minute left in the first half and three timeouts left. Are we not Vikes?! Hopefully, Mr. Tice and Mr. O'Leary can keep Moss under some kind of control .... and good riddance to Carter -- go to the Hall of Fame and leave your f'n mouth in Canton. One of my favorite and most frustrating teams to root for -- but you just have to love 'em. If you're looking for a team, there's room aborad our ship. COWBOYS SUCK.

Crap coach, crap receivers, crap attitude, crap stadium, crap team!!!

as a long time viking fan, this year is emberresing, viking fans look for long awated changes
Lord of the Waves 10/27/2001
Minnesota is a pretty good team. Their defence has a lot to be said for. Then comes the second most important thing....their icon. A little pigtailed head. Any team that can make this look straight and masculine has my vote.
dobomb34 10/13/2001
Are you kidding me, the vikings suck
loki13 08/17/2001
This team could have been Super Bowl champions many times over, if not for one thing: DENNIS GREEN! Get rid of Denny and the people of Minnesota can finally have a team that they are not utterly ashamed of at the end of each and every season.
MarkSumner 07/22/2001
Without Robert Smith, you are just an average team with a receiver that thinks he is the team. Sorry Viking fans, you had your shot and blew it!!!
likerealmusicn otcrap 07/16/2001
Ah the Minnesota Vikings. So much talent, yet they always come up short. DO they choke under pressure? Get too cocky? Injury plagued but not revealing it? My guess would be a little of everything. Tough to say where they'll go this year. However, since the Vikes bring me such good memories of my dad I have to rate them a 5, he'd roll in his grave otherwise.
Blinx 07/06/2001
They are a very decent team, but their running game is questionable this coming season with the retirement of Robert Smith. If Moss, and most importantly, Culpepper, play like they did last year, they may make the Super Bowl. But they need a GOOD running back.
badmofo 06/17/2001
they suck sorry it is true
FootballStar71 04/12/2001
This team will take it all the way to the Superbowl where they will put up a great game for the rings
CFLrulz 03/13/2001
Now I know I'm a CFL fan, but I have to say this: VIKINGS RULE THE UNIVERSE TO HELL!

dona 10/12/2000
In the Tampa game Minnesota was forced to be innovative, use all the weapons, and fortunately they thought creatively enough to take a few chances and come out winners....playing too conservatively is not only boring to watch, but doesn't always have a positive outcome...just ask the Tampa coach....Great game, gutsy play calling...Worthy of being a Monday Night Football Game....Congratulations Keep up the good work!!
RandyMoss 09/20/2000
I'm the best receiver ever!!!
