Okay... I've owned season tickets now for 19 seasons and including the abysmal Kotite years and not so good Coslett years I'm less excited about the prospects for this season than I was for even some of those. Two of the additions to our O-Line are rookies- good ones..(Mangold and Ferguson) yes building blocks- but they're not going to make the impact necessary to protect a fragile QB like Pennington and keep him upright all year. As a matter of fact I'll be surprised if he makes it 5 games. Our 4 running backs put together are not going to make up for the loss of Curtis Martin a sure fire first ballot Hall of Famer. So how exactly are the Jets going to move the ball whatsoever? Their tightend stinks (Jolley). They have a brand new and VERY young offensive coordinator (Brian Schottenheimer- I believe he's 36) to go along with our defensive head coach Eric Mangini who's in his 30's. On the defensive side of the ball we have NO pass rush whatsoever- we've traded away one of the best pass rushers in the league John Abraham. Our linebacker core is strong anchored by ProBowler Jonathan Vilma but our secondary is suspect with 3 new starters. I can't see us winning 2 or 3 games this year! It's going to be that bad! I AM however taking a road trip to see them at Lambeau in December because what the hell...that's a great story and they might actually win agains the miserable Packers. LOL

They don't have a long term solution at QB or RB. They have average starting WR, but they have some young offensive linemen with potential. On defense they lost their best D-lineman. They have a great young MLB who might be playing out of position in the 3-4 Mangini is installing. This team is at least 2 more drafts away from threatening the Dolphins and Patriots. They need more depth at just about every position, and they'll be looking at a top 10 pick in the 07 draft.

Jets Suck Big Time this season!!! I'm A Giants fan! Lets go giants Everyone should agree with me?
asskickingboot s 11/28/2005
I'm not a Jets fan, but I bet I'll sound like one. I like the way the team played last year, I thought they got the better deal in the Moss-Coles trade, and they have just generally done pretty well. I don't think New England is going to do well this season because they lost some veteran leaders, so that makes the Jets the probable AFC East Division champ in my eyes. Update: Wow... This shows how much damage a few injuries can do to a team. Curtis Martin has missed quite a bit of this season, as has Chad Pennington and more importantly Center Kevin Mawae. Struggling through these key injuries has turned this genuine perennial playoff team into a trash heap.

Go Vinny. In fact, go straight to the nursing home.

Though i would like to agree with tocwelsh, I dont think they have theam again. A nother NFL draft has come and gone, and us JETS fans are wondering why we even participate in this thing. I hope to be eating my words in January, but i dont think the Jets have it. Good Luck Boys

New York is the best team there is!! They have teamwork and I'll stay true to New York for life!!

I thought after the end of last year that the Jets were going to win the AFC East this year and be a real contender. NOT! Pennington gets hurt and old Testaverde doesn't get it done (surprise) and they are now 2-6 at the halfway point. The Washington Redskins absolutely sodomized the Jets and stole their free agents during the off-season and instead of having one decent (Jets if they had kept those guys and Pennington not gotten hurt) team and a crappy one (Spurrier's loose Redskins), we have TWO bad teams with no chance of any post season aspirations. It's not even worth talking about next year, because the Jets need to improve in just about every area. Pennington is a good quarterback, but he needs lots and lots of help.

The Jets are a great team, but they face huge setbacks this season. With Chad's wrist broken, it seems that their season is over before it begins. But not to fear, the Jets have Vinny Testaverde, but serious questions arise again. At 40, will Vinny be able to carry the team? I think so, he's done it in past years, and we have to have faith. The Jets are in the most unstable division in the NFL. I would not doubt that it is the best. The Dolphins, Patriots, and Bills make for a tough schedule this year. Jets fans can only pray that Chad's wrist heals quickly, but other than that, the Jets team looks good for 2003. Curtis Conway was a good addition for wide reciever with some nice catches in the preseason, especially a nice grab in Tokyo. Defense was also updated well during the offseason The Jets looked good in the preseason going 3-2, but only time will tell if they are Super Bowl caliber. Until then, J-E-T-S! JETS! JETS! JETS!

New JERSEY Jets
President -X-D 04/14/2003
Herm Edwards is getting the job done in NY. He came in to rebuild the team and has had sucess a LOT faster than anyone thought. Chad Pennington is among the top three new upcoming qbs. Curtis Martin still has some gas in the tank. Edwards is a defensive coach and I expect the Jets d to improve this year. Their biggest weakness right now is at wide reciever.
TheMyth 04/13/2003
Chad Pennington stepped it up and led the Jets to the playoffs. IF he keeps studying and doesn't get cocky or arrogant, he should continue to grow. He's a bright young star of the league. I was excited about LaMont Jordan when he was drafted, but with a stud like Curtis Martin, he won't get much of an opportunity. Don't forget the defense or special teams. A complete team, but they just have to play complete games.
angusmacpherso n 04/03/2003
Herm Edwards is a very good coach.
Shnikees 03/22/2003
Historically, they;ve been a let down. Yet lately they've restored hope, have a great head coach and to be honest, I've seen more people wearing Jets jerseys than the Giants jerseys in New York lately.
larydion 01/30/2003
A great season, an amazing head coach (as well as his coaching team). Edwards show the world that NYJ had a great team, and the awful begin of the season (1-4), was just a mistep. Chad Pennington prove he could throw, he could throw well. Lavernaue Coles proves he could be one of the best WR

I live in Wisconsin, everyone, almost is a Packer fan, except me; however, the Packers are not the topic of discussion. I had the pleasure of sitting in a room with many Packers enthusiats when the 2002-03 Jets dominated the Packers 42-17 in the Meadowlands Complex. I told them all week long that the Jets were the team to beat in that game. Why? The Jets were 1) fighting for their playoff lives. After seeing the Patriots beat the Dolphins, a Jets win put them in position to not only win the division, but put both the Patriots and Dolphins out of the playoffs. 2) Young, 3rd year QB Chad Pennington out of Marshall University. Pennington is a very accurate passer and always maintains his poise, he is comfortable in the pocket even when it is collapsing around him. This event doesn't occur often; however, as the O-Line headed by Center Kevin Mawae does an excellent job up front. Pennington threw to Randy Moss in college. Even though Randy is not a model person, it gave Pennington a chance to prove his stuff. In the NFL he has Wayne Chrebet, Lavernaeus Coles, Richie Anderson, and Curtis Martin, all accomplished players. 3) Special Teams was the Jets best area this year. Santana Moss is the best punt returner this season and Chad Morton leads Kickoff return yardage. John Hall is a great kicker. 4) Herman Edwards. He had to break up a couple fights in practice before Week 17. His team started 1 - 4 and didn't appear to be on the verge of anything, but his players gelled and the Defense stepped up. On January 12, 2003 the Jets have a huge opportunity to do something they haven't done in a while, get to the AFC Conference Championship game, but they have to beat Oakland in California. While Oakland is a good team, the Jets are on a serious hot streak outscoring the last two opponents Indianapolis and Green Bay 41 - 0 and 42 - 17, respectively. I think that the way the Jets are playing, they can have a special season.

Since Halloween, with the exception of the very scary performance in Chicago/Champaign, the J-E-T-S have been Awesome Baby with a capital A!
bigc_121 10/03/2002
Jets could be sweet if the o-line could hold and give vinny sometime to throw.
Munson 09/25/2000
Are the Jets the team of destiny? They are 4-0 against some tough teams, but have yet to play a good or complete game. With Testeverde struggling, Curtis Martin has been incredible and the defense has been tremendous. And, Al Groh seems to be pushing all of the right buttons. Maybe, their good luck will catch up with them and they won't continue to be as fortunate. But, if Vinny begins to play better, they won't need the good luck and they'll begin to win games convicingly. As a result, without a dominant team in the AFC, the Jets could be headed to Tampa come the end of January.
DAVI3648OM 01/14/2000
Would be the best team in the league if testeverde wasn't injured

Parcells need to go sit in his Denny's handicapped parking space and think about why he is sych a jackass. Then he needs to go and make another cheset tostitos commercial and sing La Bamba to make some extra $$ and get anothe lifetime supply of chips. Was the fat Bastard in Austin Powers modeled after parcells?
