The only reason I give these guys a five star is because I have pulled for them for many years and so did my father, so you might say it is in the family. I do agree with everyone else in saying that Al Davis needs to go. He is horrible with his philosophy of a differnt coach each season.

Al Davis, please listen to me. You were not a good coach, you are not a good evaluator of talent. You are the reason Oakland has two good years followed by years of terrible teams. Go buy a copy of NFL Headcoach and let people who have a clue run your team. Stop suing the NFL, Stop suing Tampa Bay for copy right infringement (come on, they had a gay pirate on their helmet for years, give them the skull).

Your team has some potential if you will merely stay away for a year or two. Let your coaches coach for more than 2 years and you might start to see some improvement.

I'm a die hard raider fan since 1984 - 85 and I will simply say the raiders are trash. Don't get me wrong, I cheer them on every game they play, even now with a 4-9 record. I'm loyal to my teams and not on the bandwagon like others are with teams that win. The problem with the raiders first and foremost is that their organization is like a correctional facility. Take all the bad guys society don't want and try to turn them into productive people. It's a monumental job that needs a legendary coach at the helm along with a no nonsense supporting coaching staff....which the raiders don't have, never had and never will have as long as Al Davis has a hand on the team. They Got some hall of famers and long time contributers working for the team, but they were rebels in their day also. so you can't take a rebel and try to teach a younger group how not to be a rebel when the teacher never tasted what discipline is like themselves. I can't blame the players for most of if because it's like children, they only do what their parents allow them to do, with a few exceptions, nothing you can't weed out really though. The eagles are a prime example of how the raiders need to treat some of their players. You may be a great talent, but your not above the well beings of this team. However, the raiders don't do that, if they did, charles woodson would not be playing for the raiders the past 3 years and would have been traded to someone else. The players themselves have been very good, some of the best. In fact, the raiders draft D-linemen, D-backs, O-Linemen and wide recievers very well. They have a good track record for drafting and producing some of the better 0-Linemen and D-linemen in the league. That's going way back to the 60's too. However, it's one thing to draft and produce good players, but it's another thing to build chemestry and utilize their strengths. The raiders don't do that. They take a good player and force them to play out of their comfort zone whether it's out of position or not in the appropriate style of offense. The clearly shows year in and year out on defense. THE most recent showing is when they changed the defense to a 3-4 alignement after being in a 4-3 for the better part of 30 years and then moved warren sapp to nose tackle expecting him to take on 3 lineman most of the game (because the defensive ends weren't good enough to command double teams). On top of that, they take clearly productive players from an already struggling defense in order to boost the offense which did not have any problems that some good ole coaching couldn't fix. namely, trading the teams best tackler (middle linebacker neapoleon harris and good cover corner phillip buchanon) to get randy moss who can't even get down feild without pullin a hamstring. Not to mention all he can do is catch one or two deep passes and has yet to be the difference in any game. The raiders do not replace any of their good players either. They let them go and try to fillt he spot with unproven rookiee's or young 1 and 2 year rejects from other teams. Defensive coaching is completely and utterly trash. The schemes and way they don't utilize their best players strengths, makes them weak. The offensive line don't help the defense either by being out of shape and undisciplined. The O-line lately has been in need of some seriously disciplined players to replace barry sims at LT (he can't stop any DE's from getting to the QB for the past 4 years, got showed up in the superbowl and gets owned by jason taylor every year they play the dolphins). Instead of getting randy moss, Oakland should have went out and threw some money at a johnathan ogden type of Left tackle since they need that kind of protection to throw the deep passes they want to throw. Norv Turner had some great pass blocking O-Lines in dallas and WAshington....Oakland seems to think reformed players and bad coaching will be their answer to winning though and that makes this team trash in every since of the word. The mystique may be there, but the fear in the opponents isn't.

I've been a fan of the team since the sixties, so I'll give the current edition a third star just for old times sake. Not much here this year though, although they look a little more promising than the 2004 edition. The playoffs are not even on the event horizon right now.

I present to you the 2005 edition of Why the Raiders Will Lose. In the Raiders' very first game they managed to give what I feel is a full season preview. They lost. Just as I thought it would, the Raiders high-powered offense kept them in the game until the beginning of the second half before their defense let the game slip away. The Raiders offense had 351 Total Yards. That's more than they averaged last year. Pretty good really until you factor in penalties (a point I'll get to later). However, their defense gave up 379 yards to the Patriots who have never been considered a big offensive team, especially now that the Patriots lost Charlie Weis. Some would say it was a big night for Randy Moss. Despite being ineffective most of the game, Randy did catch a 73 yard TD pass, enough to statistically make him over 100 yards with 130 yards total. However, Randy's existence on the field can be entirely wiped out with penalties alone. The Raiders always have been and always will be a poorly desciplined team, leading the NFL in penalties last year with 134. This year looks to be no different as they managed somehow to get 16 penalties for 149 yards, many of them on key plays including a Randy Moss offensive pass interference call that otherwise could have kept them in the game. That's right, Moss's talent can't make up for the team's lack of discipline, not by 19 yards. If they were to have that bad of a game every game they would end the season with over 250 penalties. Kerry Collins also had a good game. Indeed, he only threw one interception, less than I expected. Kerry Collins is a disaster at QB. He's tied for the NFL record of most fumbles in a season with 23 (tied with Daunte Culpepper). Last season he was tied with Jake Plummer for most interceptions with 20. Lamont Jordan had his debut as a Raider by simulating the play of previous Raiders backs of late. He had just 70 yards while averaging less than 4 yards a carry despite having a couple big runs. He scored no touchdowns. When will you Raiders' fans learn that it's not the back that's the problem but the slow o-line that can't run block to save their life. The Raiders would have been better served using their money to get a solid defensive player instead of Jordan and moving big bruiser Zack Crockett to tailback and using Omar Easy as a fullback. At least Crockett would have the opponent worn down by the 4th quarter. Some may also note that the Raiders only gave up 73 rushing yards. That's because their pass defense was so weak there was no need to establish a run game. They gave up 306 yards through the air. Not a good game for any of their players in the secondary as they only tipped one pass all game. So, that pretty much sums it up. I expect very little out of this Raiders team. In fact, the only thing I expect out of them is that they'll be DEAD LAST in the AFC West.

Love them or Hate them (I like them), no other NFL club has the mystique of the Raiders. Some of this has to do with the best uniforms in all of sports. Some of this has to do with Madden and Al Davis. Some of this has to do with their pscycho fans. And Some of this has to do with the rousing Raiders theme song you hear on those old NFL films (where voice of God John Facenda is narrating) and you see Darryl lamonica hurl an 80-yard bomb to Warren Wells or see Jack Tatum unleash a punishing hit. Though they have been down of late, I am a firm believer that the NFL is High on the Hog when the Raiders are winning.

Raiders fan since I was a kid. The Oakland Raiders were once a team to be feared and respected but time and idiotic policies have tempered down the once mighty men in silver and black. Now us fans make up for it with a vengence. F(uck with us and you'll get the sh!t kicked out of ya. Want to committ suicide?, go to a Raiders game with a rival teams colors on and head for the restroom, we'll be happy to put you out of your misery. RAIDERS RULE!

The Raiders are one of pro sports' greatest franchises. Yes, they have fallen on very hard times due to the megalomanical actions of their over-the-hill owner. But love them or hate them, they have helped define the drama of pro football in the modern era. And three Super Bowl championships speak for themselves!

What the hell is the superball? Anyways, this broke dick, old, tired, team is getting what was coming to them. I feel sorry for a talented guy like Charles Woodson having to play for a clueless and non-caring coach like Bill Callahan. That guy should be coaching YMCA pee wee softball, not NFL football. He sucks. Gannon sucks now, and Jerry Rice should be playing bingo or something. What a disgrace this team is this year. They are just awful. They lost to the LIONS for god's sake. Then the moron Callahan said Detroit was a good team. Oakland might be the worst team in football right now.

The geriatric unit comes together for another year. The cap really hurt them, and a strong draft is going to be necessary for them to compete in the AFC West. Gannon is a genius, Rice and Brown play better than Jordan ever thought at 40, and the secondary has tremendous POTENTIAL. But potential doesn't mean jack if you don't play up to it.

As my username suggests, I don't like the Raiders, but unlike some people on here who give any team they don't like only one star, I'm gonna give them their due, 4 stars. However, in about two years, maybe less, all the old veterans will retire, and the franchise will go to $h!t.

Losers. Waaahhh, it was a fumble, waaaaaah. You bunch of cry babies. I just hope Daryl Stingley was watching the Super Bowl and saw you losers lose. Oakland sucks, it's a friggin' sewer, John Madden was the dirtiest coach in history, Atkinson sucks, Tatum sucks, Belitnokoff sucks, Stabler sucks, Steromonowski sucks, Raider damnation sucks. Al Davis would leave you in a heartbeat if he thought he could make an extra nickel somewhere else. By the way, Al, the sweatsuit is appropriate, it's like telling the whole world "I give up." Change the helmet logo to a picture of a baby because that would better serve the "fans" in the black hole. LOSERS!!! LOSERS!!! LOSERS!!!

I'm not that into football but the Raiders are my favorite team because they're controversial. I watched a game a few weeks back and, even though I barely comprehended the objective of the game, it was amusing because they played on a wet field and they splashed everytime they tackled! It was hilarious. Also, they won so that's good.

Black-outs. That's what "raydar" fans get. To see the Raiders last year, have such a great record and still not sell-out was embarassing. The Raiders had one of the best, if not the best record in the NFL for a time, but did the fans come out and support? Nope. When they went against their division rivals, the Broncos, in a pivoatl game, did they sell out? Nope. The "fans" needed a large corporation to buy out the remaining tickets for one game. It wasn't until late in the season, when the playoffs were right around the corner did the "fans" come out. The black-hole? Never heard of them 'til that the playoffs. If those aren't fare weather fans, I don't know what is. My rating is not for the team, but for the fans in the Bay Area.
