This is hard and fast rule, yet many of the people defending themselves are the worst shots and hit everything BUT the head, until its too late.

This is a tried and true rule. The best weapon would be Remington 7mm (rated elsewhere on Rate It All). "Always aim for the head" was some very good advice given on the National Lampoon Radio hour back in the mid-seventies.
