ItemImageFrank Solich is a graduate of Nebraska where he spent 19 years as an assistant coach before taking over as head coach in 1998. Moderate success at Nebraska was not enough and Solich was fired in 2003. Frank Solich will begin 2005 as the head coach for Ohio.

I have been watching Nebraska football as a season ticket holder evidently a lot longer than most of the posters here. Most probably do no not remember when the entire state was calling for TO's head on a platter. He was not thought of as the "God" of NE football until the 1990's. Everyone said that he couldn't win the big ones. Have you all forgotten that it was TO who hand picked Frank for the head coaching position? Most of you probably don't know that there has been more of Solich's recruits that have gone to the NFL than any other coach at NE. Know the facts before you open your mouth. I think Frank got a raw deal from our AD who had a bone to pick with him. Most of you probably don't know Mr. "Lisping" Pedersen either. I say bring back Frank and bring back the option!!! Get rid of the "Worst Coast Offense"

He drove Nebraska into the ground. Once Osborne's recruits left, the team won only 7 games. He could not recruit, either. He only went after in-state guys. Some friends of mine play football here in Nebraska and Solich is sending them letters. Had he been at Nebraska, they would be the gems of the recruiting class next year, adn they are not good enough to compete at that level. Terrible recruiter, terrible coach, good athlete.

Solich is a cancer that destroyed Nebraska football as we know it. After his firing, everything that Devaney and TO created will be gone forever. I just hope things move in the right direction.

He's torn down in 3 years what it took Osbourne decades to build.

I love my Huskers and I do not want to see Nebraska's coach rated last, but Solich has to go. A team that won 3 national championships in the 90's is now not even a Top 25 team. Hmmm coincidence? And to all the goody-goody fans who say "oh everybody's gonna have a bad year once in a while and you have to stick by your team, I am sticking with the team , just not the coach. Things have goten progressively worse since Doctor Tom left and it is more than just a "bad year". Get someone with some fire, coaching ability, recruiting prowess, and let him lead that Huskers back to where they should be, on top of the football world!!!

Program is falling apart. He needs to build a great defense again or the program will continue to slip.

He's taken a great program and driven it into the ground. He isn't a good play caller and hasn't prepared his teams well. It's time for new leadership.

Frank can't recruit and this new class proves it. He can't play call, and the Liberty Bowl proves it. He can't lead, and the overhaul of his entire coaching staff proves it. He can't win, the record proves it. The man was good at his old job to the extent that Tom Osborne was great at his. Frank has to go.
