Of all the greats, Spurrier has the highest winning percentage in the first 15 years (and that includes 3 years at Duke). After giving lowly Duke their first ACC championship in decades, he went on to Florida where he won an incredible seven SEC championships, and a national championship in his 12 year run. He has since taken over what was one of the most screwed up programs in the country- the University of South Carolina. His accomplishments there already include: 1) Becoming the first coach in school history to take the Gamecocks to a bowl game in both of his first two years. 2)Beating Florida in 2005 for the first time since 1939 (yes, the national championship Florida Gators). 3) Beating Tennessee for the first time ever in Knoxville. Without a doubt, the best college coach!

Quit the playa hatin'... He is the greatest coach that has ever performed on the college level, NFl was just a fluke, sit happens. One thing you can't disagree with is that when you face Steve's Cock-n'-Fire offense in the future, you will lose, so dont put money on USC games anymore. OK?

Say what you want about Spurrer (arrogant, cocky, etc.) but he played by the rules and he won with style. I didn't go to University of Florida by I always respected their team because they had fun playing football. Yes, they were cocky, but that was awesome. In the 90's, what game would you rather see than FSU-UF? That was THE GAME. That is just my opinion.

SS lacks both theology and geometry. As proven by his most recent recruting classes - no one wants to play there and be terrorize constantly.

I love to see Spurrier do his temper tantrums on the side lines & then throw that visor to the ground. He does seem to coach well enough to get his team to bowl games. What makes me sick is to see him get a break in a game when a BAD call goes his way & then he gets that smurk on his face like the Grinch, you all know what I mean. GO VOLS!!!!!!

I concur with the rave above from Hola de Chile - I simply wouldn't play for that guy - he's immature and obnoxious.

A lot of upside that gets tangled with the down- side of things! He can recruit and coach offense with the best. However, he's a whiner and a pouter, and is not as gracious as he should be in defeat. As a result, the character of his teams is often questionable...look at all of those all-pros who couldn't get a national title for him in college!

I hate Florida, but I love Steve Spurrier. He makes their games so exciting to watch with the Fun-N-Gun.

He is an offensive play-calling genius, however, this draws his attention away from his defense which may hurt the Gators when the play top 25 teams.
