Other than Pops, all the Bowdens are grossly overrated, having used Daddy's name to get jobs. Clemson fans are religious about their football. I will give Bowden credit for great recruiting classes. Too bad he can't coach them. In 2006,Clemson had the talent to be a serious BCS contender. They finished mediocre at best. He cannot beat Boston College and was embarassed by Va. Tech. His team very nearly lost to South Carolina in 2005. He did ose to them in 2006. The Bowden-Spurrier rivalry will prove to be a joke, with the joke on ol' Tommy. The Clemson faithful will not be laughing.

Just when he's about to be fired, Tommy Boy pulls out a face-saving W. His teams are too inconsistent mixing in a solid win with an awful loss. This makes for an OK coach, one who will do just enough to keep his job. Sooner or later that wont cut it at Clemson.

Sounds like Umar is an equal-oppportunity troller. Wonder how big a chip he's lugging around, or how much or little football he actually watches....

It seems that Tommy can only motivate our boys to play well when his job is on the line. Maybe his job should always be on the line??

I said it before the fluke after the WAKEFOREST GAME LAST YEAR. Bring Danny Ford back out of Retirement. Clemson may win one more game this year. May.

A second loss to Wake Forest will spell the end for this guy. In this case, the apple fell far, far from the tree.

Even though Clemson is as young a team, coach bowden is taking a beating. This really makes no sense. Consider the small amount of returning players and the large amount of new players and tommy's having a great year with more to come. Losing to georgia was inevitable. With thier depth they can run with any team. Lay off Tommy, after what they did to g.tech you should look at what can happen wwhen you doubt a bowden.

Is the 3 going to a four or a two? When we are down in the middle to lower end of the pack, stuggling against Duke, Wake, and forget about Maryland and NC State - its time to put up or move out !! I never thought I'd want to see Danny Ford's offense again, but come on home Danny !!

The absolute worst coach Clemson has had since Ken Hatfield. He underperforms, struggles against weaker opponents, gets blown out on national TV on a regular basis, is unprepared for big games, and had a team that completely quit on him last year after the Georgia loss. His staff is full of old friends and family that can't seem to coach their collective way out of a pee wee football game. In short TDP should be in Columbia when ULL plays USuC to put out feelers to Ricky Bustle or call Nashville and bring Bobby Johnson back. Bowden is in a tailspin. He has done some good getting facilities. Otherwise he is a complete bust and unless he pull out a miricle 10 win season he should be shown the door.

Assembling a lot of talent in Tiger Town. His "obsession" , as someone here put it, is rivaled only by his complete domination of his cross town rival.

Tommy Bowden is a great offensive coach. He had great offensives when he was the coordinator at Auburn. He walked into a mess at Clemson. The program was in bad shape. He will turn it around. He has to have the time to improve facilities for recruitment and also bring in his style of players. He has had long enough to recruit but he also needs the facilities to get the players to make a commitment and it is my understanding he is upgrading faciliies. He will get Clemson on the right path. He is a great coach. He seems arrogant but it is not arrogance it is confidence. Tommy Bowden is a good coach on his way to being great

Tommy Bowden is the most overrated coach in college football. He gets blown out on national TV more than any other coach. His teams often look ill prepared for big games. He has assembled a remarkable group of talent, but his game preperation and game management are horrible. He should never have been hired at Clemson.

I'm sure that somewhere in there beats the heart of a good tactician and a great football mind--he was raised and reared by the best, after all. But a couple of things trouble me here. First, he has an unjustly arrogant attitude. Sure, he's done a commendable job at Clemson and Tulane, but he has yet to prove his ability to win the "big game" (i.e., Florida State, or a respectable bowl game). Second, and I see this because I live in the local Clemson media market, this man is obsessed, and I mean OBSESSED, with the solid program Lou Holtz is building down the road at rival South Carolina. Hardly a post-game interview goes by (no matter who that day's game opponent is) that he doesn't make some snide, off-the-cuff remark about the University of South Carolina. Sure, be up-to-speed with what your rival is up to, but this guy takes it to the extreme. Show some class, Tommy, and worry about the game at hand. South Carolina will be waiting for you at the end of the season, I assure you.
