Players and writers say all the right things about Dungy- classy, smart, professional. . .and it was a shame that Dungy actually had to wait too long for his first shot as a head coach. . .still, a real winner. . .

Tony Dungy is contemplating retirement. This would be pretty sad to see. Tony Dungy's resume speaks for itself based on what he did when he was with Tampa Bay and what he has done with Indianapolis.

I'm really happy for him. After what he and his family have gone through with the suicide of his son, it's good to see karma send him a little something back. Seems like a class act, and obviously, a damn good football coach.

* Does Tony Dungy remind anybody else of Barack Obama?

Over the last 8 years who has a better record other than Belcheck with superbowl wins. Now with Tony's superbowl win what can you say bad about the man.

Why do the people refer to him over and over again as the Africian American. My father use to take me to the Bucs game every Sunday in the 70's. Due to family issues, it stopped. However, it never stopped me and my father from following the game. He died in 96. When Tony took over the Bucs he bought inspiration to me. He had that kind of vibe that just touched me. When his son died, I was hurt and praying for the family and friends, just like, I'm sure other fans did). He knew his fans were with him. For some reason, he caught my eye and bought Tampa Bay back to life. Why they let him leave, is unknown to me, but they let a good, no, great, man leave. So here I was tonight, wishing the Colts to win. And they did. He IS a GREAT MAN!! Not an Africian American man, A MAN. And to think what he could have finished and done with the Bucs. I just wish the commentators (SP) would get off this Africican American issue. That is not who he is. He is a heck of a couch. He is human. He is a family man. He has a speciasl talent to couch football. My personal wish was for him to stay with the Bucs, but since that is not the case I now follow him. He has a way of touching my heart no matter what team he couches. He is not only a couch (no matter what background he comes from) he is an inspiration to me with his beliefes, his firm face, yet loving. His team has got to love him.

I am somewhat disabled and cannot sit in a stadium anymore for a full game, like me and daddy did. But I would love to see Mr. Dungy at any game or any where he might be doing promotionals. He is the one person in my life that really touched my life.

I am glad to see Tony Dungy is going to the 2007 Superbowl. He is a gentlemen and has survived disappointment and tragedy to finally reach the pinnacle.

Coach Dungy is consistently good in leading his team to the playoffs. If he can get to the Superbowl, he may enter the ranks of "great".

One day soon,(probably '05 season), all Dungy critics will be silenced when he proves three things: 1)Discipline 2)Teamwork 3)Hard Work A few defensive changes and the Colts are sending New England home early next year.

A great guy and a classy smart gentleman. I look up to him as a father figure. I'm a Jets fan, but I wouldn't mind losing to his team. Hopefully he'll take his Colts all the way. Nice guys should finish first.

As a defensive coordinator he was a 5, one of the few coaches that could slow Barry Sanders. As a head coach he rates a 4.I believe he always has his teams prepared, they just seem to come up short.

Too much talent to lose in Tampa: he lost. Too much talent to lose in Indy: he lost... I see a trend here.

Tony Dungy is a defensive mastermind and a wonderful leader of great talent. Think that greatness does not need sideline leadership? Take a page from Phil Jackson! Dungy is indeed a class act and it would be a joy to see him holding the Lombardi trophy aloft.

Tony is a brilliant defensive coach, exactly what the Colt's needed. He will stay with the organization for many years to come.

Non-Bucs fans always think Dungy was the reason this team turned it around. Wrong! Rich McKay, who was hired as the GM the year before, is responsible for Tampa Bay's success. Rich handled the draft. Hell, Tony was still playing defensive coordinator in Minnesota when Brooks and Sapp were drafted. Even Sam Wyche drafted Lynch.

I have to give Tony Dungy five stars. He is the class act of the NFL and would be an asset to any team he coached. In Tampa, he built the foundation that Jon Gruden topped off. He is still the heart and soul of the Buccaneers. Would that there would be more coaches like him, who are admirable men on and OFF the field.

he's not a one, but im just trying to bump him down a little. he's not good enough to be in the top 10 if he can't have more success with a guy like Payton Manning who regularly posts 4,000+ yard seasons, and Marvin Harrison. everybody talks about Manning still winless in the playoffs...maybe it's the coaching?

Dungy benefitted from having a good D in Tampa, but they didn't win it all until he left. The Colts aren't exactly lighting a weak division on fire.

For years I thought Tony was overlooked while guys came out of obscurity to get headcoaching jobs.He has definitely turned the Bucs around. He has the defensive and special teams aspects of the game down, but he should know by now he needs some consistency on offense.
