He had a good career. Long gevity, but just never an elite QB.

Never really was an elite quarterback.

Everytime I think of Doug Flutie, I still think of his awesome pass against Miami (FL).

He makes a solid backup. I'm not sure I'd consider him starting material. He has a 5 in terms of personality though. Everybody loves him. Just having him in the locker room has to help.

here's an idea.........maybe he should get a chance to play

My kind of guy. The Bills should have kept him instead of Rob "Peanut Brittle" Johnson. Granted, Flutie isn't the sole reason San Diego's been successful, but I'll take him for his leadership and his ability to be liked by (almost) all of the segments of the local populace. Hey, San Diegans, enjoy this guy while you can. Despite the local antics of our talk shows here in Buffalo, people loved this man. What he gave to Buffalo and Western New York was immeasurable. A class guy and a real human being.

Doesn't have the gaudy stats that other quarterbacks do, but has more than enough heart to compensate. The Bills made a major mistake by letting this guy go. He will have the Chargers contending again this year.

I've been a Bill's fan since the O.J. years and this year I have decided to solemnly switch to the Chargers!! The past few years have been hard for Doug, but now I have seen what a true team can do for its leader. Doug is going to lead our team to the Super Bowl this season, I’ll bet my life on it!! Go Chargers!!!!!

I have been a buffalo bills fan for years. Doug has been getting a raw deal from the begining! Although I will remain a Bills fan I can't help but watch the chargers this season. I hope they go all the way to the top, and Flutie will have my 100% support!! If for some reason the chargers win a super bowl w/ Flutie I hope he tells the NFL and the bills to kiss his a@S !!

Flutie was by far the superior qb for the bills and i am really disappointed that wilson picked his little injury prone johnson. comparatively speaking, wins count, and half way through the season when the bill are scrambling for a replacement qb (only scrambling you'll likely see this year at the qb position) I'll be somewhere else cheering for flutie. regards. tk

In my opinion, Doug Flutie is the epitome of sportsmanship and teammanship. Even though he had been given a raw deal, he put it behind him and thought of the team and winning, not himself. Every chance he got to play, the team rallied around him and protected him. With Doug on the field, the team seemed to get his winning spirit. I have had the pleasure of watching Doug play at Ralph Wilson Stadium, and when he is on the field, he is not only a natural leader and winner, he is a great sportsman as well.

I have been a Bills fan all my life and what happened with Doug last year was the most embarassing thing in Bills history. What the man lacks in hieght he makes up in heart! The man is a winner and should play the rest of this season no matter what! Johnson may be the future but if Doug gets benched, the Bills will miss the bus!!

The guy gives 100 %, always has !! I've watched him since college

Flutie is definitely a winner and got a raw deal when he was benched last year by Wade Phillips for the playoff game against the Titans. He's also a great athlete who still plays hoops regularly and is probably the greatest player in CFL history. I really think that if an NFL team had devised an offense around him, he would have had a productive career. But, at this point in his career, he is probably best suited to his role as back-up where he can offer a change of pace and win some games as an injury replacement. Now that he has once again replaced the oft-injured Rob Johnson, we'll see if he can regain some of that Flutie magic.

One of those players who it is very hard to root against. He has built a successful career against the odds, he comes across as a hard-working, good guy, and generally comes through under pressure. Talk about a great #2 quarterback to have on your roster...
