Should be O.J.'s cellmate.

One of the best linebackers of all-time. Aside from the whole murder thing, what more of a leader for that kind of defense could you want?
RunsWithWhiteW olves 01/12/2006
He loves the game so much he killed someone after the super bowl.
Dansler 12/13/2005
One of the best MLB's there ever was. Not the best, there certainly are better. However, I say this because of what he did for the balimore franchise defensively. People want to give credit to other LB's on the team and that's fine, but what the fans don't see is how in practice, Ray Lewis teaches them all how to perform. Come Sunday, those great plays Suggs, Hartwell, Boulware make are a product of ray lewis teaching and their talents for listening and learning. Heck, most publicly known teaching is what he did for ED Reed....Reed admitted in an interview couple of years ago (not exact words..but he said), that Ray Lewis made him a better player and that he never had a feel for the game like he does now until he started learning from ray lewis....that speaks volumns, do you honestly think as outspoken as ray lewis is that he don't do the same for the rest of the team? When Ray Lewis retires, he will be some teams Linebackers coach just like Mike Singletary does now and he will be a great one at that. Also, injury is limiting Lewis production right now...you can't produce when your on the sideline hurt. That comes from making over 100 tackles every year. Ray Lewis brings the kind of play that you want from a middle linebacker.

Ray Lewis is the best player in the NFL regardless of position. go the ravens.2 times NFL defensive player of the year.
JnnySDBOLTS 07/28/2005
this guy is awsome, im a tightend and i would hate to line up againts him, but he has to calm his attitude down,
asskickingboot s 07/24/2005
He is not a terrible linebacker, but I think there were three better linebackers on the Ravens (Boulware, Suggs, and Hartwell in that order). Gets alot of tackles, but Boulware is the best linebacker from the Ravens. I think Lewis is more of a 3 star player, but I'll give him a 2 out of spite.
GB4Life 05/11/2005
he is a criminal, wheather convicted or not, if you are put in that situation your reputation is ruined. there are alot better linebackers in the game, one's that dont accually try and kill
big_boy55 03/03/2005
overrated
CanadaSucks 03/01/2005
The media made him. Look, Ray was an all-pro 4 times. But his yelling and screaming can't hide the fact that he hasn't been anything spectacular for two years. The media keeps putting a mic on this loudmouth for no reason whatsoever except for him to push his legend - anyone else notice that Ray's teammates are starting to look the other way when he starts barking and yelling? I'm not saying Ray's a bad player, he's actually pretty good- but he needs a few more pro bowls and good seasons - this ray's a hall-of-famer today talk is just silly.

Ray is an awesome player and a inspiration to the city of Baltimore.

This player is probably the most feared and toughest and most athletic defensive players in the entire game, he is a player with versitility, and can change the out come of the game.
markdatsun 08/04/2004
Not sure if we're supposed to be rating the player (outstanding) or the human being (disgusting). I don't know how Ravens fans can sleep at night cheering for this guy or having their kids wear jerseys with his name and number on it. Even if he didn't do it, he know who killed two people. And the companies that use him as an endorser are equally disgusting.
craig4770 08/01/2004
best player in nfl
numbah16tdhaha 07/24/2004
This monster is not human. He feels no pain. He can't be reasoned with!
jonhere 07/09/2004
easily the defensive MVP of the league year in year out. This guy is in on EVERY tackle no matter where.
louiethe20th 06/20/2004
Just a monster on the field. Kills people and flies to the ball. Wish my Lions had him.
rayru 04/18/2004
By far the best defensive player in the NFL today. No one can dictate a game from the defensive side as he can. That being said, he knows who killed two people and did nothing about it really. The fact that he is still getting tons of endorsements is disturbing.
yisman 04/01/2004
One of the best LBs of all time, and a great leader, too.
Ostro54 03/19/2004
wat a beast he can tackle anyone
minkey 03/16/2004
Big, scary player. Contender for the best linebacker ever. Definetely runs with a bad crowd outside of the game.
vtsciencenerd 03/12/2004
He is a great player and he's always an insper ation on the field and sideline he supports his team better than almost any other player in the league
jgls 12/24/2003
relentless pursuit and savage hitter who has some major demons off the gridiron. a flawed and disturbed man off the field.

Scary. Urlacher only wishes he could be half as good as Lewis.

Torlax 01/16/2003
I see a lot of comments about Ray Lewis being a thug and ruining team chemistry, but they must not be watching the same games. Ray Lewis elevates the play of every single member of the Ravens defense. In addition to being the most naturally gifted LB in the game, his intensity and purpose turn good to great around him. If you want to talk about people who ruin teams, look to Randy Moss.
norelle 04/03/2002
hes the man especally me represntin from b'more, maryland. yeah buddy!
raymondhof 10/09/2001
Should be playing in the Penal League
mossrandy84 02/17/2001
Oh my god. He is the Super Bowl MVP. You can't get better than that he should be number. This rating is for football talent not murders. Just because he murdered somebody doesnt have a thing to do with his talent he should be right under Rany Moss.
upchuck 09/05/2000
This element can ruin a team...he is the ultimate "bad apple"...if he were a boxer that would be fine, not a team sport...Even the old "bad-boy" Oakland Raiders wouldn't have room on the roster for this guy.
magellan 09/05/2000
A scary guy. No matter how talented he is, I would not want him on my football team - not if I were a Ravens' coach, fan, or player. Mike Ditka made a nice point on the CBS pregame show - that Lewis' coach has to know by now if Lewis is a good guy who has made a couple of bad decisions, or if he is just flat out a bad guy. Ditka went on to say that if in fact Lewis is a bad guy (as it would appear), he's gotta go.
Munson 09/05/2000
Strictly in terms of football ability, Ray Lewis may be the best defensive player in the NFL. Nevertheless, Ray Lewis is a bad guy. He is a thug who is lucky that the league fined him only 250k. So what if he plead guilty to a misdemeanor. He was involved in a murder (albeit of two guys who certainly weren't saints) and, for many months, was more concerned with his own back than the truth.
