One of the top 4 or 5 players in the history of the league. Great disciplined routes, great hands and probably his best asset, work ethic.

I think Jerry Rice is the best wide reciever ever. The 49ers shouldn't have traded him to the Oakland Raiders.

An absolutely fantastic player. Probably the best wide reciever in NFL history, and if not then he's probably still the best possession wide reciever ever. However, this is CURRENT NFL Players. He just retired.

He flippin' old! His work ethic is the only thing that keeps him around. He's not the game changer that he used to be, but he still made a roster and even moved to #3 on the depth chart.

Yes, he's hanging on too long. Yes, he's a grumpy old man. But Rice's numbers alone warrant him as one of the top 10 football players that have ever lived. He could have played in any era and survived. Terrific respect for the game and awesome work ethic.

This guy is a great, or should I say an outstanding, receiver. He's always a guy that you can count on to win the game and get TDs. He's had over 200 TDs in his whole career.

Old as dirt doesn't mean no good, as Jerry shows. Crafty, well-schooled in his art, and still physically capable, Jerry Rice makes for a tough cover assignment.

Before any Jerry Rice Fans freak out at the rating, remember, this is a rating about current players....not all time players. He still has the ability to make some good catches. However, much like Emmitt Smith and thr Cardinals, Rice's performance has gone in a downward thanks to the performance of his other teammates. One may see more productivity with Rice than Emmitt. Yet, with the deterioration of the Raiders and Rice in his Swan Song years, it may be time for him to take off the helmit for good. We do, however, appreciate the effort.

He's still on top of his game, although his "game" is very different these days. Sure he's lost some speed, but he can catch everything thrown his direction and has more football smarts than 99% of the league. Although I have never been a 49ers or Raiders fan, I know what a great football player looks like. Jerry Rice could be argued as the best football player at ANY position of ALL time.

His heyday is legend, but what sets him apart from other sports legends is his unflappable “sticktoitness”. I’m a Raiders fan, and I also participate in fantasy football. I drafted Tim Brown as my token Raider receiver in 02, because I thought Rice was too old. The magnificent bastard did it! In 01 he just kept running the slant, but was more of a distraction than a target. In 02 it was like Gannon “found” him. Their chemistry was at times stunning! I revered Rice and I let my inner sports analyst steer me from what my heart knew was the right choice. He taught me a lesson. And what about his infectious positive attitude! I love Jer! He is truly Great.

Amazing. He is 40 years old, and still capable of scoring touchdowns in the Super Bowl. He is definitely the best receiver of all time.

He's still mentally Jerry Rice. He knows how to get open, how to set guys up, especially on crosses and slants. His hands are still great. He just isn't the fastest guy out there anymore. He's not going to hurt you after the catch. He's limited to the shorter routes now, and the guys throwing to him now aren't as good. Garcia and Gannon are a far cry from Montana and Young.

Rice is a great WR, if not the best. He has so many records as a WR. His story is also an encouragement for those who live in poverty.

Rice is the greatest WR to ever play the game and he came on strong this year for an awful 49er team. However, he is a shell of the player he used to be and, at this point in his career, should be nothing more than a secondary receiver on a good team.

Jerry Rice gets a 5 because of the heart he showed to get back into shape after his knee injury so late in his career.
