One of the top 4 or 5 players in the history of the league. Great disciplined routes, great hands and probably his best asset, work ethic.
cadoo89 10/29/2005
I think Jerry Rice is the best wide reciever ever. The 49ers shouldn't have traded him to the Oakland Raiders.
Blitz52 10/20/2005
jerry rice is the micheal jordan of wide recievers the best ever.
asskickingboot s 09/07/2005
An absolutely fantastic player. Probably the best wide reciever in NFL history, and if not then he's probably still the best possession wide reciever ever. However, this is CURRENT NFL Players. He just retired.
numbah16tdhaha 09/07/2005
He flippin' old! His work ethic is the only thing that keeps him around. He's not the game changer that he used to be, but he still made a roster and even moved to #3 on the depth chart.
JnnySDBOLTS 07/28/2005
i gave him a 3 because he is nothing compared to moss,t.o., or even maccardell. he is good back then. hes got to go now
portecrayon 04/28/2005
In the Super Bowl era the best football player regardless of position of all time!
GB4Life 04/25/2005
it's time to go Jerry
big_boy55 03/03/2005
one of the best of all time but not currently
CanadaSucks 02/23/2005
Yes, he's hanging on too long. Yes, he's a grumpy old man. But Rice's numbers alone warrant him as one of the top 10 football players that have ever lived. He could have played in any era and survived. Terrific respect for the game and awesome work ethic.
Marinersfan11 02/12/2005
In the top 5 best recievers in the last few years. #1 is My Man Deion Branch
bballgrandslam mer32 12/21/2004
This guy is a great, or should I say an outstanding, receiver. He's always a guy that you can count on to win the game and get TDs. He's had over 200 TDs in his whole career.
clarkone68 09/14/2004
He USED to be the best.
BeatlesfanStev eo 08/21/2004
Although he is still very good and very athletic his age is certainly cathing up with him.
MariusQelDroma 08/03/2004
Old as dirt doesn't mean no good, as Jerry shows. Crafty, well-schooled in his art, and still physically capable, Jerry Rice makes for a tough cover assignment.
lahell84 05/30/2004
it's time buddy!
vtsciencenerd 03/11/2004
This guy may be forty but he runs like like freakin cheetah And he can catch with the best of them he is like an old torry holt not to mention when he was playing with joe montana he could probobly bounced it on his head jumped over it twirled it on his nose then caught it
DeathRattle 10/28/2003
Before any Jerry Rice Fans freak out at the rating, remember, this is a rating about current players....not all time players. He still has the ability to make some good catches. However, much like Emmitt Smith and thr Cardinals, Rice's performance has gone in a downward thanks to the performance of his other teammates. One may see more productivity with Rice than Emmitt. Yet, with the deterioration of the Raiders and Rice in his Swan Song years, it may be time for him to take off the helmit for good. We do, however, appreciate the effort.

He's still on top of his game, although his "game" is very different these days. Sure he's lost some speed, but he can catch everything thrown his direction and has more football smarts than 99% of the league. Although I have never been a 49ers or Raiders fan, I know what a great football player looks like. Jerry Rice could be argued as the best football player at ANY position of ALL time.
Mark72481 09/29/2003
sucks
sd_chargerfan 08/15/2003
JERRY RICE IS OLD JUST LIKE THE RAIDERS ROSTER
gummocatkilla 05/24/2003
A living playing legend! Love this guys heart. The best receiver to ever play the game. Period.
csimmsfan24 05/09/2003
This man most definitely deserves a 5. He's still going strong! He is still one of the best wide receivers in the league.
lowrider 04/29/2003
good thing he came to a real team
2003 02/25/2003
The 2nd best football player ever, Barry Sanders being the ultimate.
widgeon 02/16/2003
retire already your the greatest make way for some new blood ya geezer
Chunkmasterfat 02/13/2003
Nothing can stop this Raider. Not even age. You can't slow him down.
flundar 02/13/2003
His heyday is legend, but what sets him apart from other sports legends is his unflappable “sticktoitness”. I’m a Raiders fan, and I also participate in fantasy football. I drafted Tim Brown as my token Raider receiver in 02, because I thought Rice was too old. The magnificent bastard did it! In 01 he just kept running the slant, but was more of a distraction than a target. In 02 it was like Gannon “found” him. Their chemistry was at times stunning! I revered Rice and I let my inner sports analyst steer me from what my heart knew was the right choice. He taught me a lesson. And what about his infectious positive attitude! I love Jer! He is truly Great.
zuchinibut 01/31/2003
Amazing. He is 40 years old, and still capable of scoring touchdowns in the Super Bowl. He is definitely the best receiver of all time.
joekapp11 12/14/2002
old
kwamebrown_13 11/13/2002
Hey, I am having difficulties finding information abuot Jerry Rice' life off the field. If anyone has any information they could e-mail me or websites, please e-mail me at kwamebrown_12@yahoo.com thanks guys
Boonta23 03/13/2002
Simply the greatest.
Davis21Wylie 08/07/2001
He's still mentally Jerry Rice. He knows how to get open, how to set guys up, especially on crosses and slants. His hands are still great. He just isn't the fastest guy out there anymore. He's not going to hurt you after the catch. He's limited to the shorter routes now, and the guys throwing to him now aren't as good. Garcia and Gannon are a far cry from Montana and Young.
mossrandy84 02/17/2001
Has Been.
hanul 11/17/2000
Rice is a great WR, if not the best. He has so many records as a WR. His story is also an encouragement for those who live in poverty.
Munson 01/08/2000
Rice is the greatest WR to ever play the game and he came on strong this year for an awful 49er team. However, he is a shell of the player he used to be and, at this point in his career, should be nothing more than a secondary receiver on a good team.
nwc@751om 11/29/1999
Terrible year. Greatest ever, not even close now.
jerz1405om 11/21/1999
Jerry Rice is definitely a 5=Great! Because the man holds many receiving records. He is always one of the top receivers of all-time.
mike1163om 11/13/1999
Jerry Rice gets a 5 because of the heart he showed to get back into shape after his knee injury so late in his career.
saz@749om 11/09/1999
Gets a 5 on the alltime list but among current players he has slipped a notch.
MICA194TE 10/26/1999
Jerry rice is a good guy. He does not play for money, he play for the love of the sport.
