Born in 1973, Marshall Faulk was selected out of San Diego State in the first round of the 1994 NFL Draft by the Indianapolis Colts. Traded to the St. Louis Rams in 1999, Faulk set a record for total yards from scrimmage in a season and became only the second player in NFL history to tally 1,000 yards rushing and 1,000 yards receiving in the same season. In 2000, he was named NFL MVP when he set an NFL record for touchdowns in a season (26). (Add picture)

One of the best running backs in recent memory, and maybe of all-time. For a few years in a row there, he couldn't be stopped.

Was a serious hoss in his prime, as well as one of the best recieving threats out of the backfield ever. The Marshall Faulk of today doesn't deserve to be starting in front of Steven Jackson though... UPDATE: Marshall Faulk was not a better all-purpose back than Marcus Allen. He was probably a better recieving back, but not all-purpose. That's because the true meaning of an all-purpose back is a guy that does EVERYTHING! Marcus Allen was far better at running, pass blocking and short yardage than Marshall Faulk ever was. In fact, the only thing Marshall Faulk MIGHT have had over him was recieving.

Used to be a OUTSTANDING back who i liked so much to watch him play but his time is up now in his mind since he's been in the league longer than the golden girls have been on TV(ha). But i liked him alot but now he doesn't play hardly at all(well)so why talk about him?

He's the greatest all purpose back ever, even better then Marcus Allen. And how is he a ball hog? His teams were always pass-first teams, and he got little carries for an elite back, and still consistently ended up with 1000+ yards rushing because his YPC were up in the 5's. Age has caught up with him, but he's still going into the hall of fame.

He is one of the greatest runningbacks of all time. Its sad to see him slowly get older and less of a threat. In a perfect world we would have marshall winning every game, but we cant. Marshall Faulk, greatest player to ever play the game of football.

He is in the sunset of his career. But in the day, he made the Rams The greatest Show on Turf. As devastating as he was out of the backfield, he was even better going out for a pass. Brian Westbrook of the Eagles is a poor man's version of Faulk.

Although he might be losing a step, he helped popularized the pass-catching RB. (see Tomlinson, Holmes, etc.)

What can you say about him that hasn't been said before? The man leaves everything on the field, doesn't get caught up in petty, immature arguments, and he works in his community. Put him at 4th receiver and he still lights up the score board. And selfless. Sure he wants the ball, but he wants to put his team in the best position to win. A couple of years ago, when the secondary was devastated by injuries and incompetence, he offered to play corner until players healed up. That's rare these days.

Best all-purpose player in NFL. He's really natural out there, he's got good instincts, vision. His balance and footwork are excellent. He's at his best on sweeps, outside pitches, off-tackle stuff. There he can cut back, accelerate in the lane and explode. Where he struggles is between the tackles, especially in short yardage. He tries to dance and tip-toe around to make a big play instead of lowering the shoulder and pounding his way in. Recieving the ball, he's unmatched among halfbacks in the NFL. He's got great hands. He's the best at setting up screens, he does it so naturally. After the catch, he jukes defenders really well, makes guys miss. He's like another WR in the backfield.

Unbelievable. Breaks the TD record having missed two games. Playing like a man possessed - take him in Philly any day.

What a steal by the Rams to acquire him in the off-season. This year, he has been the most dangerous player in the NFL because he can score any time he touches the ball and is equally dangerous rushing or catching the football. Plus, he seems like a good guy and is unusual in this day in that he doesn't blast the Colts for trading him.
