This is an upscale seafood restaurant built directly on the Embarcadero. The oysters there are amazing, and the clam chowder is some of the best I've ever had. They have a full bar with an extensive wine list, a surprising number of which are available by the glass. The view is spectacular as the restaurant is situated right on the water at the base of the Bay Bridge. The decor is nice, designed to evoke a refurbished brick and steel loft, even though it is all new construction. There's a lot of attention to detail down to the faux rust stains leaking from some of the rivets. There are also two enormous fourteen-feet high cylindrical fish tanks in the main dining room that represent the fish you'd find among swimming among reef pilings in the bay. These tanks are separate from the built-in, for-eating lobster and crab tanks and are maintained by the same company that cares for the aquariums at the California Academy of Sciences. This restaurant is pricey, although there is a prix fixed lunch special and featured oysters that are only $1 each. There is also a $5 dessert that is a take on the It's It ice cream sandwich -- a bay area favorite -- that is made with oatmeal cookies and ginger ice cream dipped in chocolate. Definitely a winner.
