ItemImageBorn in 1976, Peyton Manning was selected out of Tennessee by the Indianapolis Colts with the first overall pick in the 1998 NFL Draft. Still a quarterback with the Colts, Manning (son of former NFL QB Archie Manning) set NFL rookie records for completions, attempts, yards, touchdowns and consecutive games with a TD pass in 1998.

I have watch Peyton Manning ever since he was quarterback for TN. He is in my opinion, the best all around quarter back. Not only is he a great player, he is a great role model and very smart player. Put to to you this way, he is the only NFL quarter back that I have ever loved to watch.

In my opinion, the greatest QB of all-time. Look at the record books already, he is already starting to close in on all-time marks and hes got a lot more time to go. He runs the whole show when he is on the feild and rarely makes a mistake. Sure he's got two great recievers, but if you put them on another team, neither one of them will put up better numbers than they have with Peyton. He has also marketed his funny/dorky personality into stardom. He can't do any wrong.

This douche would be second-tier without a very strong offensive line ... can you imagine him playing for a team where he had to share the ball with, say, some running backs?

Today is Superbowl Sunday, February 4, 2007. Let me tell you, fellow citizens, I am throughly gagged with the Peyton Manning hype and constant repetition on the tube. ENOUGH already!

The only thing that had more smoke and mirrors was Jimmy Carter's twenty year campaign for the Nobel Peace Prize.

Oh puuuuuuulease,,,,,it took the refs trying at every turn to give the colts and peyton a win in last weeks game. Just look at yesterdays ruling from the NFL saying they botched a key call in the game. They do not deserve to be there as the game was given to them on a silver platter by the NFL.

Only thing I dislike about Peyton Manning is he plays in the AFC South, vs. Tennessee! He simply is one of the best, period. It is refreshing to see a star athlete who is not thumping his chest, and being a butt, ala T.O., but is humble, confident, appreciative of the fans, and realizes the talent he is blessed with.

Peyton Manning? The best? I'd say yes... Give him a couple years and yes, he'll be the best of all time... For some odd reason, they place Steve Mcnair, and Tom Brady as Par to Peyton... Why? I don't know... Steve Mcnair... Moved to the Ravens... He is an average quarterback... Wins because of Defense, everyone knows that... Tom? He is a great quarterback... I'll be honest... The steady Defense, keeps the games "clutch" games as they say... and when given enough chances, with an offensive line that could repel nuclear missiles, anyone would have time to throw the ball down field and score... Though they all say he is better than Peyton... That is a NO... You give Tom all the credit, but if you ever took the time to study a team... You'll see that the COACH is the one who should receive the glory... Just look at it like this... Peyton and Tom... Both played in the pro bowl... Who managed the game better? With All stars... Excuse me... Superstars by their sides... Peyton is better, not because of who is around him... Look at the 2006-07 season... His offense has been injured, Defense is at an all time LOW... But they still managed to come out with a 12-4 record... Please tell me why? It's Peyton... They've beaten the Pat's already, 2 year in a row now... People are starting to turn their heads about whose better at this moment... He has somewhat of a running back, but everyone knows that the colts are going to PASS the ball... He passes, CONSISTENTLY, though no one can stop him... People say that he is great because of the people around him... Well, they may be right... But look at it like this... How great would they be without Peyton? Peyton was great in college... Came into the NFL, and became even greater... If Marvin Harrison was to be with another Quarterback, Would you think he would be receiving those records as he does with Peyton? Don't be stupid... Tom has the rings... I'll give him that, because he had a defense...He had the better TEAM... but the best player, hands down... Is Peyton... He is the Leader of the team... The Colts basically have 2 Coaches, Dungy and Peyton... He reads defenses in the blink of an eye... He isn't whining on the field... He takes his time to see who is rushing, and what scheme would best fit the situation... Tells his receivers where to go in code words, and guess the results of this? 49 touchdowns... Please tell me of a better QB managing a game... There is none... Look at the facts... I love brett, but his records WILL be broken by Peyton Manning, (Probably not the interception record which he is close to breaking) and maybe even his streak of games started... Yes, Peyton does look retarded, but behind that mask is a mind which is far beyond any other in the NFL today... In the Steelers game... Peyton brought his team back in the 4th quarter... and could bring his team in overtime with a field goal... But Vanderjact missed it... In my opinion, if he would have made it, they would have won... And would have challenged Seattle and possibly beat them for the title... Stop underestimating Peyton... He's showed what he can do... Who cares if he's on commercials... Tom Brady is the fag on the cover of male magazines.... You all truely are Manning haters... I... Well, If tom brady is great... Manning is Magnificent... Stop hating

two words Tom brady. If peyton manning is so good why is he 1 and 8 against tom brady why does he not have a ring yet. Tom brady has 3 and has one less year of nfl experience. i rest my case Tom Brady is just plain better and he just keeps on preforming

An over-rated whiny bitch. If the NFL and the Rules commitee weren't in the colts pocket, football would be great again. Terry Bradshaw was spittin' teeth over the line of scrimmage long before this wussy boy every threw a football and cried about it. Absoulutly Average but the bitching and crying makes him below average. if the nfl wasn't protecting the colts, tennesse and the giants would have already beat them.

The best QB in the league, bar none. He leads the team with surgical precision, knows what plays to call most of the time, and almost always hits his man. Contrary to what some people are saying, he IS a great leader. And the media loves to point out things beyond his control and call it "choking", just like they did with Wilt Chamberlain 40 years ago. The day after the Steelers lost ESPN showed all of these clips with him blaming his offensive line. First of all, that was taken WAY out of context. Woody Paige admitted it on PTI. Everyone kept asking him about the blitz and the Steelers defense and what could have been done differently. Manning didn't give any names and he would have been lying to say they did a great job. All he said was that there were protection problems and that everyone on the team, INCLUDING HIMSELF, was responsible. And can anyone who saw the game honestly say that the line did their job? They were eaten alive! It's easy to be "clutch" like Tom Brady is when you have a good 20 seconds to get rid of the football.

Manning: RED 48, BLUE 40, RED 40, RED 40! SET! SET! RED 47! GREEN 68! TonyDungy: Will he snap the darn ball! Ref: Delay of game, #18 offense. That's a 5 yard penalty. He's the best qb in the game, but sometimes he goes too far with his snap counts, but I would take this qb over anybody he's that good.

Loses one star. . .serious talent but now has to deal with an ugly fact that he has not performed well in the biggest games of his career. . .one can overlook the loss to the mighty Patriots (they would have beat anyone) but Peyton has to win a big game or he will have a mark on his career. . .and stop comparing him to Marino- Dan never had a team like this year's Colts. . .

I hate to do this because I hate the Colts, but Peyton may very well be the best QB in the League. He's a field general. He can take control of a game with constant audibles and precision passing. Most QBs on pass heavy teams look like they only look good because of their recievers' talent (Mark Bulger or Kerry Collins for instance). However, I get the opposite effect from Peyton Manning. It seems like he makes his recievers look good. Too bad I hate the Colts. UPDATE: Say what you want about Peyton not being able to take his team to the big game... because it's bull. I remember hearing the same thing about Bill Cowher. Peyton is arguably the best QB in the NFL, with only Carson Palmer, Trent Green, and maybe Matt Hasselback close. The truth to it is that while almost any QB would thrive with his reciever corps, probably no one is better suited for the Colt's offense than him. He has great arm strength and accuracy. Sure, you could find guys that could throw the ball farther (Byron Leftwich, Daunte Culpepper, etc.) or more accurately (Trent Green, Tom Brady), but you'd be hard pressed to find somebody better than him in both regards. Add to that his intelligence and passion for the game and you'll see a guy who has mastered his scheme. Graywolf06 liked to talk as though he throws the ball up and let's his recievers take care of things. That is a silly notion... that's what Kerry Collins does. What Peyton does is put the ball where defenders can't get to it... if that means throwing it low and outside, he'll throw it low and outside... if that means throwing it up and in, he'll throw it up and in. He has confidence in his recievers, which is far different from relying on his recievers. I'm going to say again I HATE the Colts. In fact, I HATE Peyton Manning, but I'd be dishonest if I said he weren't a top notch QB.

He needs to quit river dancing after the ball is hiked and start playing the QB position. The pre-playoff Payton Manning I remember would end up at the line of scrimmage with approximately 19 seconds left on the game clock (plenty of time to read a defense/call an audible). Against Pitt. On the other hand, he would show up to the line of scrimmage with 9 secs on the play clock. If you ask me, thats not enough time to read a defense, or even call an effective audible, he was constantly trady. He has no one to blame but him self. I still like him though, but its time to win the big one. He probably needs to go nail some good pussy during the off-season so he can relax for once and regroup for next season.

Payton manning sucks. And no I definately don't need to go to a brain doctor. I read on this blog that someone wrote that Payton is the classiest player in the NFL. No I'm sorry that is far from the truth. I know this because the one and only true greatest quarterback of all time, "Brett Favre", would never sit there like a spoiled bitch and point fingers at his offensive line. Oh, yeah, and to all of you colts fans, better luck next year. HA HA! You guys are pathetic. You get home feild advantage through out the playoffs, and you still can find a way to blow it. You guys bring new meaning to the word pathetic.

On Sunday, Peyton showed once again he is not a "Big Game" QB as he failed to cash in when he was given golden opportunity and golden opportunity. When he was at Tennessee his record was 39-6. Very impressive, but 4 of those loses were against Florida and Steve Spurrier. I think Peyton showed his true colors blaming his O-line after the game. How those guys are gonna come back and block for him is beyond me. That's exactly the wrong thing to do. Look at Donovan McNabb. He had a pretty miserable season but he was a stand up guy. No matter how disappointed he was with his teammates, he always accepted responsibility for the loss.

PM is the most over rated person in the NFL. He was raised a rich kid with his brothers in New Orleans. The guy does not know what it means to fight and struggle for something. He was given everything. I have seen it first hand. I wish he and his brother and his old man would just go away. I am tired of hearing about this guy and his passing records. You saw first hand what he and Eli are capable of in their playoff games - NOTHING BUT LOSING!!! The guy WILL NEVER WIN A SUPER BOWL. He is a pussy and always will be a pussy.

You 5-star people are stoned! That guy has zero composure under pressure. Who cares if he has 155.8 quarterback rating in the regular season. It simply doesn't matter -- if he can't win in the playoffs. Hell, by this time in Elway's career, he had already been to 3 Superbowls. Marino also already lost 1. Peyton Manning is lucky every year if he gets out of the first round! The Colts would be better off with Joey Harrington (at least they'd be no worse come January)....

There exists a thing I like to call, "The Curse of the Mannings." Peyton is probably the best example by being dumped from the big games over and over again, but really his whole family has had an almost devestating history of not being able to deliver a championship. Stats are great to put in a record book however someone will come along and remove your name from that page eventually. You can't erase a championship...it remains forever unbroken.

He has VERY antsy feet (can't seem to calmly drop back) and too much pumping of the football. He's too busy dropping too far back before passing. With the player core (and their foot speed) a three step would proof sufficient. He has qualities to stay consistent but fails to get better at learning. He is surrounded by the talented players that have allowed the team to be historical. BUT he falls short when the time is crucial to help his team win the needed games to make it to the Super Bowl. If he is so good put him on Commission to make is BIG BUCKS. Many others could play (QB) for the Colts and surpass his stats: Matt Schaub, Aaron Brooks, Drew Brees, Phil Rivers, Kerry Collins, Drew Bledsoe, etc... If he is so good why are ALL of the players seen having to DIVE to receive a high percentage of his passes. He's not accurate, he does throw it in the area of his players and they have to break the route to get the pass reception, then make a play afterwards (when possible).

Peyton will never be good, certainly not great, until he starts blaming himself for mistakes and stops blaming his line or receivers. The highest of the "intangible" qualities of a quarterback is leadership, and Manning is just too self-centered and egotistic to be a real leader

Manning and Brady are easily the two best QB's in the NFL at the moment. Manning set the single season TD record last year, has thrown for over 30k yards in just 8 seasons- passing for over 4k each of the last 7 years. His career td to int ratio is around 2:1, has a completion percentage close to 65% and is one of the best clock managers in the game. Peyton's ability to get rid of the ball quickly makes him very tough to sack and as skills at quarterback open up the running game. Yes, he hasn't won the big one of yet, but he's also been hampered by never having the home field advantage or ever having a bye week in the playoffs despite going 28-8 over the last two seasons. With the advent of a dominating defense you'd be hard pressed to find a better team, with a more explosive weapon than the Colts and Peyton.

I've been looking at some of the comments under other QB's. I've even put comments under them. But, what I mainly see is the Peyton Haters. Sorry folks, but Manning is one of the best QB's in the league......much to your disappointment. He plays on a helluvateam, can throw the ball with accuracy. What more do you want??? A QB who can catch and run and block too??? If you overrate other QB's, and then immediately turn around and underrate Manning, well kissing Brady's and McNair's and McNabb's asses isn't going to be much better.

Already accomplishing early what took others at the end of careers to do. He's just getting it done now so as not to worry about it later. From the time he was born this is solely what he has been raised and bred to do. Throw the football better than anyone who ever dared play. This is what he is here for. When we need heroes in days of babied athletes, he's more true blue than the uniform he wears.

Great stats, to be sure. But when it COUNTS...he is no where to be seen. The NFL and the Colts should have seen it coming. Great collage quarterback, but could not win a title. U of T wins the NCAA title THE YEAR AFTER he graduates with, of all people, Tee Martin. In other words, the team had the tools to win with Manning, but did NOT have a leader or winner with Manning at the helm. This type of play has carried over to the NFL...lots of yards, lots of touchdowns, folds when the going gets tough. What REALLY gets me though, is that the media has annointed him a Football God, and the Colts have given him obscene millions of dollars...to a guy, who in the end, is simply a loser.
