 | Manic87 (0) 05/14/2007 | Anybody that thinks he isnt the greatest can simply look at State's record while he was there and his ppg. Unlike Pete he actually had other players on his team who scored.

 | TMACK (0) 07/11/2005 | The Man put high flying B-Ball on the map. No one before him jumped out of the gym before him. Everyone who followed (Including Dr. J, Ewing), great as they were, were following the original

 | jam617 (0) 05/03/2005 | i can't explain in here what he means to college basketball. 2-time AP all-american, 3-time ACC player of the year, scored over 2,000 points in just the 3 years he was allowed to play in at that time (that rule changed because of him, as with the no-dunking rule). went 54-1 in 2 years, winning National championship in the year when his team was allowed to go to postseason. Far better than anyone else on this list.

 | R Harris (0) 04/16/2005 | For you folks who have only watched basketball since 1990 or later:
Imagine Dwayne Wade with Vince Carter hops and Michael Redd's shooting stroke. That would be a modern equivalent. He could block shots at heights previously only reached by players like Russell, Wilt, and Kareem. Inch for inch, the greatest player I have ever seen.

 | CapAnson (1) 04/30/2004 | Truly spectacular back in the day.. probably the only player in history with more hang time than Jordan.. He was better than Jordan in college, a bit worse in the NBA.. a drug casualty

 | packfan84 (0) 04/05/2004 | DT is the BEST College player to ever play the game! If you know anything about college basketball you would know that Walton and even Dr. J said that DT was the best player they ever played against. Michael Jordan didn't really make a name for himself intil his professional career (by the way he said he grew up idolizing DT). DT achieved so many things as a college player, even before the institution of the dunk and the 3 point shot, if these had been apart of the game at the time there would be NO debate over who is the number one college player of all time. Let's not forget about his 44inch vertical leap from stand still

 | DWJ1 (0) 12/07/2003 | Anyone who really followed College Basketball during the 70's considered DT superhuman, and only at 6'-4 195. He was unstoppable, period, and put NC State on the map. Just think if he was allowed to dunk and there was a 3 point line?

 | bigjohnson (0) 04/21/2003 | Yes he was great but get real not the best. Best college players Alcindor, Walton then maybe Thompson.

 | hogan42 (0) 03/27/2003 | he took the game above the rim 29.9 ppg before the 3 point shot and at 6'4" he had to play forward.

 | Deezel2001 (0) 03/26/2003 | David Thomson is the best college basketball player ever. Anyone who thinks otherwise is a moron. Alcindor was good, and is IMO second... Walton was good as well. However, neither of them were close to DT. He took basketball to new levels... ask anyone.
What kind of compliment is it that David Thompson is Michael Jordan's idol?

 | The Phantom (0) 03/26/2003 | David Thompson was the greatest college basketball player ever. Lew Alcindor comes close, but all of this Bird/Jordan/Magic stuff is only for people who are so young so as to remember only their pro careers. . .

 | uncleroger (0) 03/26/2003 | Anybody who rates him less than great, obviously never saw him play. He was the greatest college basketball player of all time. Michael Jordan couldn't carry David's jock in college.

 | speckman (0) 03/26/2003 | Are you f$#%ing kidding me. This is some kind of a joke. How is David Thompson not in the top 3. People re-read the criteria this is for greatest men's COLLEGE basketball player. Michael Jordan was a good college basketball player. But even placing him in the top 5 UNC players of all time is not a given. Tim Duncan was again a good college player but give me a freakin break. I cannot even continue with this ranting because this poll is so out of whack.

 | youngpack (0) 03/26/2003 | the greatest college player ever....averaged 27.1 a game when there was no 3 point line....and he could shoot from WAY back....greatest leaper of all-time 46 inch vertical, but dunking was illegal then....greatest scorer of all time, but freshman couldn't play----National player of the year Jr. and Sr. ---first team all american EVERY year(except freshman when they weren't allowed to play varsity)
even MJ calls him the greatest....you guys that never saw him play are sick to not have him in the top 2 or 3 EVER!
he was an entire notch above MJ in his NCAA years--ask either one of them.
