I saw him and the other thugs play for Georgetown years ago. They would literally knock their opponents to the floor, and even the refs seemed afraid to do anything about them. TV announcers often mentioned being amazed at the nastiness they got away with. That wasn't basketball, it was one-sided street fighting. Basketball was supposed to be fun.

Patrick Ewing ripped up the league while he was at Georgetown with Coach John Thompson in the early to mid '80s. He was the Beast of the East. Ewing was so renowned for his stupendous shot-blocking ability as well as his uncanny ability to hit the long-range J. He had to endure so much discrimination and harrassment. People claimed him and the entire Hoya team "illiterate." Therefore, they avoided the media and ended up with that concept becoming known as "Hoya Paranoia." Patrick needs to start receiving the credit that is due to him for his years of greatness at Georgetown.

He has been one of the top centers in the league for many years, but I think the career is over...That old frame is starting to breakdown. I know he hasn't won a championship and he won't with the Knicks. His only ring might come as a backup/relief center like Bill Walton with the Celtics...of course, that is just my opinion!
