Great American comic. Had some pretty good acting chops also. He played Minnesota Fats in the movie the Hustler with Paul Newman. The Jackie Gleason show wasn't much like the Honeymooners and was a good variety show with plenty of skits and many repeat characters. I wish we had these re-run on some cable channel.

I liked this a whole lot more than the Honeymooners, particularly Gleason's schtick characters.

To the user who said this show is dated. Well no joke, it's dated! It's 50 some years old, you goof.

The Jackie Gleson show was far more than entertaining and brilliant. I really really love that show. There has been nothing else like it on the air and my guess is that things will stay that way. Now television is getting more boring and bland, but in the 50's it was the golden age of television, everything was simple and comedy was comedy!

Most of what's wrong with America today can be traced back to the popularity of obnoxious fat guys like Jackie Gleason. I wish he were still alive so I could track him down, tie him to a chair and smack him about the face and head with a fly swatter for a few days. He was never funny, because yelling isn't funny, it's the yelled material that is funny. The first in a long line of unfunny loudmouths who make sexist jokes even though they're supremely lucky that any woman even looks twice at them.

Jackie Gleason was a great actor. He also did the honeymooners with Art Carney, they were fantastic. Ralph Cramdon & Ed Norton was funny also but Jackie had those faces that he made that were the show. Jackie also did a few movies like The Toy with Richard Pryor. Gleason was great no matter what show he was in and no matter what generation he was doing. I liked the Jackie Gleason show but I have every Honeymooners ever shown on air.

Gleason was a classic comic. This show was terrific.

Jackie Gleason could convey more with a few facial expressions and moves than many can with an entire script. When I do catch an occasional re-run of anything he did back when, I think he’s even funnier than he was originally. I guess his humor was lost on children for the most part. He also reminds me in some ways of another guy I think is hilarious – Producer’s star Nathan Lane.

Jackie was just too overrated and unfunny. Very dated also.
