His claim to fame being the so-called "King of the Four-Rounders", beating senselessly a stupid Johnny Knoxville in mall boxing, and nearly decapitating Bart Gunn after the 'Brawl For All' in the WWE back in 1998, Eric Esch still cannot be considered a serious boxer. Com'mon! This guy could not even hang with an old, come-from-retirement Larry Holmes (minus what was called knockdown in the final round- actually it was a slip). But give him credit, I suppose? He did make the boxing world take notice, albeit (as Randyman brilliantly puts it) for comic relief.

This guy is not a fighter he is more like a mauler. He is more of a wrestler than a boxer.
sfalconer 12/22/2004
He's a big guy with some talent but could never take on a real pro like Lewis or Hollyfield.
Randyman 07/20/2004
I give him a one. He does't even deserve that. How can this buffoon be taken seriously as a boxer? The king of the four rounders? What the hell does that mean? A man hangs around and fights four rounders with up and coming young boxers, over and over, c'mon. He got knocked out the first time they put him in the ring with a real fighter, and they never did that again. If his purpose was comic relief, than I suppose he was a success.

More of an entertainer than a boxer. He's a brawler and not much more. I congradulate him on milking a career out of the 'toughman' venue. . .

Say what you will of the man, the "John Kruk" of boxing puts on a hell of a more entertaining fight than most of the non-event bouts I have seen throughout the years. In a sport where brain damage is a sign to retire, the Bean goes out, turns his opponents into mush in four rounds, then goes back to the locker room for a light snack of twinkies and a case or two of beer.

He is a complete freak show- he is not even a boxer, he is just a joke- look a this record to see what I mean on www.boxingrec.com. He knocks out bums on the undercards of championship fighters fights, he will never be more than a good earner in a boxing world that is dominated by earning power.
Jsulli8040 02/23/2003
He is a joke and I am glad him and his 4 round championship is gone.

Here's a guy who gives fans what they want, and is one of few professional boxers in the news without obvious mental issues. The "Bean" is a decent boxer and I hope he continues for years to come.
bigtyke 01/29/2003
complete joke, an example of the casual boxing fan's utter stupidity.

FAT TUB OF shi@ !!!!! SHOULD BE DOING MCDONALDS COMMERICAL NOT BOXING. BEING KING OF 4 ROUNDS IS NOTHING TO BE PROUD OF.
coqu3680et 01/19/2000
A complete joke who always seems to waste "card space" on many major fights, promoter seem to lean more towards "performing" than fighting. I have vowed to not order ANY PPV events when this "joke" is on the card.

Nothing more than a circus performer.
